So our local TV place has a sale on some Samsung plasma TVs. For a 60" plasma 1080P it is $650. Is this something I should jump on? I'm not a huge TV guy, but for $650 it sounded like a steal. Any thoughts?

Which Samsung plasma is it?
$650 isnt bad..but it may not be a smoking deal either.
It somewhere between a decent deal and a smoking deal.

I'd assume the 500(0) series. If its a higher series than that it's a steal. You get used to 60" fast. I remember when the 58" 720p was like $5999.

Minor threadjack, but I'm looking around the 50-55" range for a tv in the next couple of months. It seems like you can get a screen at that size for anywhere from $400-$1500, depending on what "smart" features it has and probably some other minutiae I'm not even sure of. What "smart" features are worth having?

If I was going to stay with DirecTV I know that certain Samsung units can function as a box for your system. Otherwise I'm not sure what else really matters much if you're going to have multiple consoles plugged in. I like the way that Plasma handles motion. I'd probably avoid the cheapest units but I wouldn't go all out either.

+1...Except I wasnt aware of the Diretv deal...that is interesting.
You can get a 60" Panasonic Plasma for less than $900 that set up properly will make your friends ask how much you paid...
