After the initial few post-college years where we weeded out the guys who flaked out or didn't want to keep doing it with families, we've got a core group of 10 who are going to start a dynasty league. Slightly different than a keeper league in that we'll have like 10-12 keepers each, with no cost associated to them, and since it's year 1 everyone's available - so clearly this first auction is going to be huge. (Future drafts will be reverse order of standings, with no auction/salary cap in place - so draft AJ Green for $80 and it's probably an overpay, but he won't cost anything for the next 10 years.)
- Does Luck or Rodgers become your #1 QB, and would you pick them 3rd after AJ Green/Calvin Johnson, or is QB so deep it's not worth going after them early? Assuming a normal $200 auction fund, what sort of value does that make a Peyton Manning, Brady/Brees? I'm leaning towards the latter, and then figuring I can find a new QB in the next 2-3 years with all the rookies entering, but it does all depend on how other people treat it.
- Right now we've initially agreed on 4pt QB TD's, and .5 PPR (everything else standard I think, except no return yards and we're tweaking defensive scoring so points and yards allowed is as least as important as sacks and turnovers). Normally I love that for yearly leagues, but with the way the league is going (platoon RB's, more passes every year) should I argue that PPR should be eliminated entirely or dropped to .25 per reception? Right now I'm seeing very little reason to purchase any RB close to the top WR's - does anyone have faith in Shady McCoy being an elite RB in 3 years? Certainly not close to the faith I have in Green, Johnson, even Jimmy Graham at their positions. Is this worth arguing, or should I keep my mouth shut and just try to game the system?
In general I love this idea, but it's definitely something where 1 initial draft will have a significant impact for a few years, and it's such a weird situation there's really no online site that provides a good framework or an easy way to do a mock draft. Anyone have experience with this format? Something obvious I'm missing that I'll be kicking myself for missing?
