Is there anyone else out there saying WTF with regards to the Harvin trade? If we just transplanted the situation into a FOF MP league there's no way I would trade an elite kick returner with probably above average WR skills for a conditional mid round pick. Maybe Jim needs to make money even more important in his next FOF game.

This might be how you are (correctly) valuing him, but the Jets are probably seeing oh my god, 60/60 WR. I'm seeing a desperate team throwing away picks.

Reminds me of the Trent Richardson deal that Indy made: a team desperate for a need letting that push them to make a very poor decision. I read Andrew Brandt saying the Colts were initially applauded by most writers for that; really?

Or how about the disastrous Bucs trading a 4th round pick *and* TE Tim Wright to the Patriots for a 32-year old guard whose contract was too high for New England's taste? Surprisingly to me, that trade was met with largely skepticism for New England's call.

This is the key comment for me.

OK, you are the Seattle GM. You know these facts:

1) He has to go sometime in the offseason, because you have to sign multiple big name FA
2) He's injury prone, which could destroy any value he has left if you wait. Again, you need his salary removed to sign those other FA's. A major injury could destroy the ability to trade him.
3) He's a poor locker room guy. In the FOF world, lets say he has a conflict with Russell Wilson or Lynch?

So you have a very expensive, injury prone, locker room menace and suddenly some team in dire straits calls you up and says "we'll give you between a 2 and 4 for him based on how he does.) In the FOF world we'll call it a 4.

Add in the fact you drafted 2 WR in your last draft.

Yeah, I can see an FOF owner making that trade. I can see both owners doing it. Not often of course, but it doesn't happen often in the real world either.

I could easily see it in MP depending on how you value Harvin and how bad the chemistry problem is.

For example, a fair number of FOF MP GMs looking at a 53/53 WR with elite KR/PR and GD but a mixed package of other bars, plus injury issues, would consider simply cutting that guy if he became an "extreme conflict" with his position leader and other chemistry issues were such that the easiest fix was cutting the WR. Under those circumstances, a solution that includes picking up a mid-round pick would be considered a nice bonus.

And don't forget the NFL's injury setting is WAY higher than most FOF MP.
