View Full Version : Would people pay for slightly updated TCY?

Follow-up to a small thread from a couple of days ago:

TCY is one of my favorite games of all time, but it is so outdated just with respect to the conference setups, I no longer play it.

Would people pay full price for a new TCY in which the only change would be the user would have the ability to customize conferences, schedules, bowls and playoff system?

I'd also suggest a slight revision in terms of reducing the effect academics have on the game and the introduction of a random element to the prestige rating from year-to-year to ensure the same team doesn't have a rating of near 100 for years on end.

How can FOF be updated so many times and TCY not even once?

We need the powers-that-be in this community to push for this! :)

We need the powers-that-be in this community to push for this! :)1. The powers-that-be in this community don't have anywhere near the level of influence over Solecismic Software's decisions to even bother with pushing for this. Which game gets update when is rightfully Jim's decision.

2. I can't speak for others involved in this community's leadership, but speaking for myself, even if I *did* have that kind of influence, I would absolutely not be wielding it in the manner you describe. I would be constantly pushing for updates to FOF, and only be advocating for an updated TCY if I could be guaranteed that it wouldn't get in the way of Jim's time to keep FOF updated.

Agree. Just saying I would think that could be influenced if there is enough interest in TCY.

For your college football fix, there's still 2005's Bowl Bound College Football -- which does, if you dig into some of the data files with Microsoft Access or something -- have the ability to alter conference affiliations (although you may run into bugs here and there as a result).

My big wish is TCY updated. Bowl Bound I have had since it came out, but it lacks play calling depth.

As for Bowl Bound, from the reviews I've read, it doesn't sound like something I'd want to buy. What sticks out in my mind from memory is some of the statistics aren't very realistic, although I don't recall which ones exactly.

Plus it crashes a lot and causes one to lose everything since last save...and it has a hard limit of something like 60 seasons. After that limit it generates errors every time one tries to proceed to the next week.
