- Statistical adjustments (this will increase offense)

Just did a quick look at this with an existing SP league, and it looks like this is a significant change, but the numbers aren't insanely high, either. The first three seasons listed below were with 7.0b. 2050 is with 7.1.

Can I continue my SP league after install the new version? Or need I to start a new one??

See post just above yours. I installed and continued. FWIW, I don't think there has ever been a patch to FOF that required you to start a new SP career.

Hmmm....no postseason games are in the current_schedule.csv after Week 17. It's not crucial, but would be a nice add to have the next week's games added to that export when it's done any time from Week 17 on.

Perfect. What about the new rookie class?? Are the players introduced in the SP league via Draft? Or need I to start again to have them in the Rosters??

Following this any 2014 Draft file with our new rookie class??

quick sim to see any significant changes for QBs. Looks like it, I'm happy. Did another sim and Matt Ryan threw 43 TDs with over 5000 yards lol.

It does export all games but the Bowl game. (I'm guessing that's because the Bowl game is stored differently because of the neutral site.)

Have to see if anything else was added to the export (such as formations for QBs in the draft pool) and if that means any utility updates.

Without having done any sort of detailed analysis yet, my initial take on the stats I am seeing is that he roughly split the difference between the 2009-ish stats that he had been using, and the last 4 1/2 years of NFL play.

lol, the next 4 games for you guys are brutal but if you can go 2-2 during that stretch then beat the Saints, you can probably get that WC spot!

Also that one sim, dunno how Ryan manage to have stats like that his ratings weren't that impressive. His overall was only 45, Julio and Roddy were only 59 and 52 respectively, and the O-line like IRL was shitty. Props to the update I guess.

Uh oh.

A LOT of veteran minimum salaries are suddenly no longer veteran minimum because I am guessing what counts as "minimum salary" has changed. This is going to cause a lot of problem for leagues as the old contracts aren't grandfathered in.

Ah, I hadn't realized. Should leagues wait until the next season to upgrade, then? That's tricky, because they can't be installed concurrently and I imagine most people have upgraded already. I don't even have a 7.0b install file to go back if I needed.

On the other hand, are those of us who spent an offseason working with our previous understanding of the cap situation SOL? I mean, we just wrapped up FA11-12 in the CFL and I've gone about walking right up to the line as far as our cap space went, and now I'm suddenly below.

Ben E Lou
11-21-2014, 11:17 AM
With quite a few people being forced to upgrade in order to grab 7.1 exported files, I would expect that most leagues will have to upgrade pretty soon. I doubt there's anything really that can be done apart from lobbying Jim not to change the veteran minimum every time he patches in future dot updates. The reality, though, is that it doesn't affect all that many people in big ways since owners do not make good use of the veteran minimum as a whole.

aston217
11-21-2014, 11:18 AM
Also, is there a reason releasing players only seems to save (Salary - roughly $1M) in cap space?

Shouldn't it place their ENTIRE salary off the books?

Example: I have a formerly minsal guy now counting as a $2.11M cap charge ($2.10M salary, $0.01M bonus). If I release him, I only gain $1.02M in salary cap relief. This is on a team with fewer than 53 on the roster currently. Why isn't it $2.10M?

Dola -- the team has 52 on the roster and the $1.09M missing cap relief only happens with the first release. After that, released players are producing cap relief at the amount expected.

Ah, so it is.

I suppose it'd be even worse had it remained at 53.

Well, apart from this little bit of panic, I'd like to say thanks to Jim for putting in the work to develop the patch and especially for doing everything that's been on everyone's wishlists -- contract logic fix, schedule CSV, even the FTP data wiping thing. All an extremely pleasant surprise.

I hope future updates come with some future proofing on this salary issue, though! Or maybe some utility that can go through and modify existing minimum sals accordingly.

I'm not too concerned about Boston. I'm a little miffed though, that the CFL just wrapped up Early FA11-12 today, I spent the offseason diligently making sure we'd have *just* enough cap room to do extensions and sign guys, and in one fell swoop nearly 60% of the team's open cap space disappears in time for Late FA.

Nice to see the update. I know that expansion has been talked about to death but maybe a middle compromise would be the ability to adjust the simulation numbers for era in a config file. I have no idea how hard it is to implement but it would nice if possible.

Also nice to see that returners are getting the right bars from the draft file imports. It kinda screwed up historical sims because all the returners were getting nerfed.

- Tweaks to salary negotations, particularly to address back-loading into three-year contractsSo the first obvious thing I've noticed on this: minbonus/minsal/maxsal/maxsal contracts now get the ol' "Your offer is too low..." with MUCH greater frequency. Seems like only the guys requesting barely above minsal will even entertain such an offer now.

anybody figure out how? IHOF is in 2046 with zero retired numbers.. Seems if the game did it there would be a few.....I wouldn't expect that it would do it retroactively or immediately. Given that it's in the HoF screen, my assumption is that it will do it moving forward as part of the HoF processing. Checking that in SP right now...

Ben E Lou
11-25-2014, 06:33 AM
Loaded up a 7.0b SP career that was in 2049. Ended season, no retired numbers, despite there being three new HoF guys who played their entire careers for one team. QuikSimminghttp://www.younglifenorthdekalb.com/fofc/trademark.gif forward five years now to see if the algorithm runs right at the time of retirement...

Ben E Lou
11-25-2014, 08:33 AM
Yup. The guys who retired after 2049 are the first ones to show up with retired numbers when they hit the HoF, meaning that the game makes the "retire number" decision at the time of retirement.

Sorry, I haven't played much FOF7, so these questions might seem dated.

Is 100 injury setting good this time? 200 seems like everyone on my team gets devastating injuries.

The consensus is 225 I think, career stats end up looking realistic long-term and it allows back ups to make a name for themselves. Most MP leagues will play at 200 or even less, set it to whatever number that would make your experience fun I guess.

The "consensus" is 225 only if you're interested in "realistic" injury amounts that are annoying to deal with for most people. And most MP leagues do not play at 200. 100 seems to be the norm, and quite a few play at 50 to avoid having to deal with all the luck/randomness of injuries.

Just booted up an old Windows laptop and am currently installing this now!

Quick question -- how do I install team logos?

EDIT: Nevermind, got it!

Started a new career with the patch. Has it always been the case that you don't get a pop-up when signing a new position leader who doesn't bring any affinities/conflicts, or is that new in this version?

That's not new. I think it has been that way all the way back to 2003--definitely since 2006.

Thanks - never noticed that before.

Would be nice to know if you are about to replace your position leader for any future patches.

Just did a quick look at this with an existing SP league, and it looks like this is a significant change, but the numbers aren't insanely high, either. The first three seasons listed below were with 7.0b. 2050 is with 7.1.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed a lot of rexed Gameplans (mainly in SP testing) generating multiple QBs with 70%+ completion percentages?

What does "a lot" mean?

wustin

I'm like 30 years in with the patch now and the league has definitely transformed into a passing league.

Last few years completion rates have been around 65-66% and pass YPA is hovering around just above 7. QB Rating, 85-92ish.

Honestly this is prob due to all the super quarterbacks that were in the top 5 of their draft class.

4 or 5 per season. The screenshot by wustin seems pretty typical.

This likely *heavily* depends on QB talent. And because there are only 32 starting QBs, there can be a fairly significant variance at any given time in a league's history. Here are numbers and QB talent from my most recent 7.1a season:

Roster Management is pretty hard with so many injuries thoughAnd to be clear, if you find that fun, more power to you. I'm just more interested in guiding the franchise through numerous seasons, figuring out who is going to be the next starting QB for the next decade. And once he's in place. I'm interested in who is going to be the one after him, so I want to get through those 10 seasons quickly. Having to mess around with switching players in and out of the depth chart all the time just ends up being a nuisance to me. I find it more fun to increase the challenge in other ways.
