Oh damn, I met him in 1985 when I worked for Orkin and he was working for a transport company in California. Nice guy, got his autograph on one of my Orkin door hangers (all I had) and talked to him for a bit.

Weird, after I typed this realized he was 53 back then, just a year older than me now :)

I always hoped Ernie (and Ron too) would see the Cubs finally win one. Just not to be :(

I saw him play on TV, the only Cubs players I liked.
