Pretty incredible run for this show and it just keeps on going with no sign of it slowing down. Season 30 starts tonight with the premise of White Collar vs. Blue Collar vs. No Collar.

My older daughter is now eight and is getting to the level where she does a great job of following all the strategic moves. My younger daughter is five and she loves just rooting for a tribe color. Either way, it's fun that we all can enjoy the show as a family. Excited about the premiere tonight.

yeah, my kids (10 and 13) love the show. We're relatively new to Survivor. I started watching a few years ago, roped my wife in and now the kids watch it too. Really fun family show.

I'm not sure whether that was planned beforehand or not, but So was awful at tribal council. You never call out your alliance like that. I was shocked that Carolyn didn't play her idol, but it proved to be a good move.

My daughters and I used to have Survivor night, starting in Season 1. My oldest was 8, and my youngest was 3, and the youngest didn't really get it for a few seasons until she got older. We would usually have fish and rice for dinner that night, and I would let them eat with their hands to emulate the survivors. They liked that when they were little, but preferred silverware as they got older. We would always pick a player on the first night, and whoever's player went the farthest got to pick a restaurant for dinner at the end of the season.

Now they're both moved away and in another city for college/work. I miss family Survivor night. :(

Not saying she was a great person, just the best one to look at. :)

I like the law student on the no collar tribe the best.

We were shocked she didn't play her idol. I don't know how much trust you can build that soon to know she was safe, but she felt confident enough, and it turned out to be smart.

Going in, I thought I would like the blue collar the best, and I thought the no collar and white collar would annoy me to no end. Turns out I was backwards on that. The feather head guy is the only annoying one so far on no collar, and I only like the guy that ate the scorpion on the blue tribe at this point. The white collar hasn't been too bad except the guy that got the idol clue.

Should be a fun season. I like the class warfare element. It's funny how as soon as that was announced, all the players started actively trying to live up to the stereotypes.

I just don't see Will's move as being a good decision. He's now #4 in a three-person alliance and is one of the weakest players in challenges on his team.

He could have been safe with a three person alliance in their tribe til at least the first merge.

I think I'd be happier as #4 with 3 strong players than being in a 3-person alliance with a deaf old woman and a sex offender though. You just have to hope you don't lose 2 of the next 3 challenges, then there will likely be some sort of switch anyway.

The guy he voted out looked like he was a strong player though. If he just stuck with the 4 person alliance and did as they planned with a split vote he would be in better shape than what he did. He basically turned his back on the potential 3 person alliance AND went rogue on the 4 person alliance.

Yeah, but suppose they lose another challenge- I think he would be on the block over Vince, even if Vince is a creep. I don't think they pitch him over Nina.

Just got caught up. Two thoughts on the last episode:

- As always, the gimmick that the whole season is based on lasts just a few episodes before they scramble the tribes. I really wish they'd let them go a while longer -- it just feels so random to mix everything up after only a few days.

- Jeff's complete and total no-sell of Max's immunity idol fakeout was the highlight of the season so far.

EagleFan
03-22-2015, 09:22 PM
I think they should allow them to pick the tribes. Randomly pick one person for each new tribe and which picks first. They pick a player but it can't be from their original tribe. Then the players that were picked pick a player (same rule of not picking a player from your tribe unless it gets down to that is all that is left) and so forth until the two tribes are picked.

To make it more interesting, do not allow them to talk about their selections as they go (so alliances can't direct the selections).

and it was such a solid gimmick too. All three tribes were interesting and did a marvelous job following their stereotypical tribe credo (or at least giving enough soundbytes to allow the producers to edit the shows as such).

however, the switch did force a bit more gameplay on everyone which is always a good thing.

I've enjoyed this season. Lots of really interesting characters. Almost everyone has a clear and unique identity, which hasn't always been the case in recent years.

Then again, I assume there's plenty of "soft fix" stuff like that going on every season, especially with stuff like which challenges come when.

Yeah, exactly. That was the classic example.

Even some of the challenges themselves would be easy enough to rig. Look at all the "untie the knots" stuff they've been doing the last few years. If you need to create a little adversity on one tribe, just tighten those knots up a little bit. Nobody would be able to tell.

Ironically, Rodney is looking like one of the only players left, in terms of making multiple alliances and playing the game. Shireen too, I suppose. Mike is a favorite for winning at this point because he's at least made an effort to get an idol. But yeah, I don't get all these people just sitting on their alliance. Caroline still has an idol, right? Could get interesting with two idols there still to come out. And with Joe gone it seems like the group has to fracture now.

I was impressed with Joe's 30 second idol making workshop, that was great, especially with everyone trying to keep an eye on him. Would have been nice to see him stick around, he's one of the only guys playing the game (though even he really should have been doing more to make some alliances).

I am looking forward to future auction episodes, now that they've pissed off Jeff by figuring out how it always works and how to circumvent that by bidding strategically. Mike really blew it that episode by waffling. If you're going to screw everyone to get that advantage, screw them and own it. Backing off just meant he pissed everyone off and didn't get any credit for making a move. He was the closest we had to someone playing this game to win, and he just didn't do enough. Am I crazy, or is the list of candidates for next season's "second chance" cast pretty spoiler-ish for this year? Nobody on the list is a previous winner, and yet there's names from this season included.

Good point. There is one cast member still on the show that is in the vote. The others have already been voted out so for them it's not a spoiler.

If I read it right, I think there's more than one.

I've seen a disclaimer that basically says "If they turn out to be the winner, they're no longer eligible", but they've known this season's winner for months now. It would be really weird for them to include that person in the vote knowing they'd have to eventually remove them, unless it's all some sort of weird decoy. (In which case, I guess it's working.)

at this point, I'm rooting for Rodney just so I can read in 3 years how quickly and stupidly he blew through a million dollars. I'm guessing about 85% will be spent on his next birthday party

The only way tonight would have been better is if Mike would have voted Rodney. Make the others re-vote between Dan and Rodney. Even if Rodney doesn't go home you would know that he would explode back at camp; the egotistical, entitled douche bag of a diva.

How funny was it watching him try to use that hook? How many times did he ground it at his own feet?

Okay, back to watching game 7.

Personally, I am loving watching Mike continue to win immunity and screw up the rest of the group's plans.

As long as Rodney and the Youtuber dude who tore apart the one girl don't win I'll be ok.

Rodney seems to be another contestant that looks muscular, but whose muscles seem to not help him at all in challenges.

Loved tonight's episode. If we can kill Rodney, the season can be redeemed to some extent. I do find myself really rooting for Mike, even though he annoys me in some ways.

Mike is definitely the horse we're backing now in my house. Loved Dan's face when the idol was played.

It's funny too how he bitched about not being given a spot on the reward, then Dan finds two melons and then Rodney starts talking about how energized and rejuvenated he is (and, of course, goes off on a diatribe about how Mike needs to "look out" when Rodney comes full force at you). A day later Rodney's at tribal council and is the same whiny, "I'm so hungry" guy again.

Nice play by Carolyn, who I don't like but think might have played the best or 2nd best game this season. Dan playing his extra vote kind of blew up in his face, the numbers ended up being 5-2 and it might have been what triggered the idol play.

it really says something about the rest of these idiots when Mike and Carolyn are considered the strong players. It's been fun to watch, though.

I will not miss Dan's long-winded, delusional blathering. Cannot WAIT to hear his ridiculously wordy jury questions.

Dan has to rank in any discussion of the worst players ever, right? Specifically, those who fall into the class of "waited to make a move for the whole game and then got voted out before they made it"?

did anyone else vote for the cast for the next season...mercifully they have little video segments of the person playing to remind you of who some of them were...does it say anything about the "one world" season that when i watched that video, i didnt even remember a single person that i saw?

Yes, and yes. At this point, Carolyn and Mike just have to work to get the other one out. Whichever one gets to the end wins. If they go together, it's a crapshoot, though I would assume Mike gets more votes. I think the no collars like him better.

I loved Jeff stirring the pot about Rodney expecting to go on reward despite never winning. Make a frigging effort, dude. And the producers must be so disappointed in Will. They probably figured he was going to be hilarious and entertaining and yet he's so anti-entertaining.

Rodney is a lock for final three since no one thinks he can win. I'm looking forward to hearing him explain why he should win. He didn't win any challenges and pretty much every time he's said someone is going home, it doesn't go his way.

Can someone point me to a list of who's on next season?

MEN: Jeff Varner, Andrew, Terry, Stephen, Vytas, Woo, Spencer, Keith, Jeremy, Joe.

WOMEN: Kelly Wiglesworth, Kimmi, Peih-Gee, Monica Padilla, Abi-Maria, Ciera, Kass, Tasha, Kelley Wentworth, Shirin.

A good cast, except Shane and T-Bird should have made it on, especially Shane, who is genuinely crazy but not in a completely unlikeable way. Both of those people clearly got clipped by recency bias.

Showing the raw footage to expose him as a liar about being taken out of context was the best moment in any reunion show they've ever done.
