I put up a player for 75k about a week ago and he sells for 79k or so and I get a message saying that he has resold and I get 5.4k. He sold for 110k. I click on him and he is for sale again for 130k.

So which is better, start high and hope for a bid, or start low and hope for a bidding war?

Do you get mother club money for him?

For me it depends if I really want to keep the player or if I don't care so much. I'd rather overprice one of my recently popped trainee and see him go if anybody wants to overpay, than lose him for not so much money. Best example of that is a trainee I sold just this past Monday. Inner mid that had just popped to passable playmaking, with inadequate passing and weak defending. Even better, he was 18 and had solid stamina. I know, I could have kept him and trained him a little bit, but I have some debt to take care of and had an extra inadequate playmaking that I could try and train (17 y.o. that one). So I placed him on the market for 75K while he was only worth 38K or so. Well he sold for the exact 75K.

On the other hand, if I have a player I don't care too much about, I will probably let him go for under the market price and hope a bidfight will happen...

How about my 19 solid playmaking youth pull from a couple of weeks ago sold for $157,000. Went over to Sweden and was sold on Monday for $350,000, so got a nice pop of mother club and 1st sale money. Then the horror of getting a notice of $16,000 of additional mother club money yesterday. Thinking, who or what could that be. Turns out he was resold for $800,000 !!! Ouch !

So it goes.

What I've done on one or two occassions is if I put a guy up for bid and I'm not getting what I want (I generally start low and hope for a bidding war) I'll place a bid on my own player and raise it. I think I lose a couple of grand on the deal if it isn't matched (due to the agent fee) but it allows me to sometimes lure someone up to a higher bid.
