Anyone ever had problems with their sciatic nerve before? I'm going on 12 hours of awful, never ending pain. If I remain completely still, it abates a little...but the slightest move sets it off again.

This is pretty damned awful.

I have problems with it all the time. You can find some exercises that will help ease/prevent it, but I will warn you they hurt pretty bad while it is inflamed. Take some anti-inflammatory medicine before trying.

It first happened while I was at work, so I'm under their proscriptions on how I can handle it. They want me to just take some ibuprofen and acetaminophen, icing it until Monday so I can go to a clinic.

I've had issues ranging from annoying pain to outright debilitating. Not sure what causes the annoying nagging pain (ends in a dull ache that doesn't seem to go away no matter what I do).

The bad pain was caused by a tear in a disk that was putting pressure on the nerve and when I was sitting down at work it got extremely inflamed which put a lot of pressure on the nerve and made life unbearable (had to be driven home from work as I couldn't even stand up; went to ER and it was packed, the person next to me was telling someone that he was sitting there for 6 hours waiting to be seen so I had my wife take me home as sitting makes it worse so I ended up bed ridden for a couple days as it was the weekend; the doctor sent me to physical therapy and I picked up quite a few stretching exercises and have continued to do them off and on since then which seems to have prevented that major issue).

With the above said, I still have the nagging pain from time to time and it can be downright painful (though not an active pain; what I mean by that is that it doesn't seem to get worse or better no matter what I do, it is just there). It can keep me awake at night when it happens.

Oddly that pain will show up seemingly out of nowhere but it will also go away as quickly as it shows up with no idea what brought it on or what made it go away.

Yeah. I have almost no pain while sitting, but getting up is brutal. Once I'm up it's not bad, but definitely not comfortable.

A good friend of mine has been subjected to it for well over a year now. She has gone to some different therapists, with varying success. Sometimes it's good, sometimes not. She has a regular prescription to a higher grade of ibuprofen, or something similar. She has seemed better with things in recent weeks, but like I said, it comes and goes.

Anyway, I hope everything works out for you, Vince.
