Welcome to Season 3 of the FOFC Sprint Cup Racing Series. If you would like to sign-up, head on over to our sign-up thread. We now have sign-ups ongoing for our Truck Series as the Sprint Cup Series is currently full. If you already have drivers in the Cup series but want more, sign-up for the Truck Series. New drivers to the series will have to first enter the Truck Series and earn their way to the Cup series.

PLAYOFF FORMAT

After 10 "regular season" races, the top 10 drivers, as determined by points accumulated during the season, automatically advance to contend for the Sprint Cup championship. These drivers are joined by two "wild card" qualifiers, specifically the two drivers ranked from 11th through 37th in drivers' points who have the most regular-season race wins. The 12 drivers' championship points are reset to a base of 1,000 per driver. Each of the 10 automatic qualifiers receives a bonus of 3 points for each win during the regular season, while the two wild card qualifiers receive no bonus. Every driver then will receive a bonus for their final position after 10 races. Wild card qualifiers receive no bonus.

1st - 20 bonus points
2nd - 18 bonus points
3rd - 16 bonus points
4th - 14 bonus points
5th - 12 bonus points
6th - 10 bonus points
7th - 8 bonus points
8th - 6 bonus points
9th - 4 bonus points
10th - 2 bonus points

Normal scoring applies during the Chase, with race winners earning 43 base points plus 3 bonus points, all drivers who lead a lap earning 1 bonus point, and the driver who leads the most laps earning 1 bonus point in addition to any other points earned.

PROMOTION/RELEGATION

If any driver from the truck series whose owner only has one driver in the Cup Series is eligible to be promoted to the Cup series if they finish in the top 5 of the truck point standings. Only one driver for each owner will be eligible this season even if two finish in the top 5.

Any driver that finishes in the bottom 5 of the Cup Series standings will be at risk for demotion. This season, however, we will only allow demotion of drivers whose owner has two cars in the series. If a driver finishes in the bottom 5 but only has one car in the Cup Series they will not be eligible for demotion.

Also, if you have a Truck driver and he finishes in the top 5 of the truck standings, he is eligible to replace one of your Sprint Cup drivers if you wish.

For future reference, past champions of the Cup Series will automatically be exempt from any demotions.

The Nielsen boys spent much of the off season in practice, with Rob giving his Danish cousin Magnus several pointers. The two worked on a lot of strategy this season, and Magnus is hopeful his fortunes will turn around this season.

As always, the Daytona 500 was a terrific race. This year we had 84 lead changes among 30 drivers throughout the day. Blue Neckansack led 32 laps on the day and Wallace Bryant led 31 as those two were the lap leaders but there was no one dominate car throughout the day.

As the race wound down, Bryant held the lead with 3 to go. Behind him was Comrade Twelve, winner of the Season 2 Daytona 500. Heading into turn 4 on lap 198 Twelve made the pass on the inside and took the lead. Behind him Red Neckanback and Helen Wheels would try and make the move for the win but were unable to as Twelve took the checkered flag for his 2nd straight Daytona 500 win.

The highest finishing rookie on the day was Chuck Long in 4th. Connor Root finished 14th, Will Kizer 29th and Jeremy Letto 42nd.

Mediocre start to the season for the #51 team. But you never know what will happen at Daytona anyway. The next two races will be a big test to see if all the changes we made in the offseason take effect.

Crazy though that Comrade Twelve won two straight 500's.

Season 2 was a tough one for Right Now Motorsports as Dexter Jackson Sr. finished 35th in the points and Ricky Anderson Jr finished 42nd and was demoted to the Truck Series. Today's Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire might have made up for all of that. Dexter Jackson Sr. completely dominated almost the entire race as he led 258 of 300 laps on the day, only losing the lead for a significant portion to David Ginsberg after pit stops. A final caution with only 8 laps to go bunched up the field again but Jackson pulled right away from Luke Duke to take the win. Lew Sifford ended up 2nd, followed by Duke in 3rd, David Ginsberg in 4th and rookie Connor in 5th.

A top 10 for Will Kizer and the #5 team. Great race for the guys earlier on in his rookie season. We're gunning for that Rookie of the Year title.

Fort Worth, TX - Avery Thomas and his DD Racing #20 crew left everyone else shaking their heads as they left Texas Motor Speedway today. Thomas, driving a special #20 Coca-Cola sponsored car was able to stretch his fuel longer than any other driver in the race and wound winning by 22.78 seconds over second place David Ginsberg, who was the only other driver to finish on the lead lap. Thomas led 76 laps over the races final segments for his first career FOFC Sprint Cup Series win. After Ginsberg in 2nd, rookie Chuck Long put together a great 3rd place run. In 4th place was Luke Duke and Wallace Bryant was 5th.

Rookie Connor Root had a great run early on and led 67 laps before getting involved in an accident and finishing 30th. Dexter Jackson Sr. followed up his dominating win at New Hampshire by leading the most laps, 113, and finishing 8th. Bo Duke led 59 laps on the day before breaking a valve on the car and finishing 37th.

It sure looks like Dexter Jackson Sr. and the #6 team found something that worked in the offseason as he leads the points by 8 over David Ginsberg. In 3rd is Lew Sifford who looks to have taken some pointers from teammate and Season 2 champ Helen Wheels. Wheels is tied for 4th with Wallace Bryant.

Some early surprised includew 2-time playoff drivers Bo Duke and Wheely McStephens who finds themselves 36th and 38th early on as well as Patrick Hutt, a 5-time winner on the circuit, who is 40th.

For the most part it was the usual suspects that find themselves up front at short tracks once again running in the lead. Rob Nielsen took the pole but only led 5 laps before finishing 6th. The remainder of the race, three drivers took turns in the lead. First it was Patrick Hutt who led 108 laps before giving up the lead to Bo Duke who lead 104 laps before rookie Connor Root took over the lead and led for 75 laps. Root wasn't able to hold off Red Neckanback however. Red took the lead and led 140 laps to take the victory, his 2nd career win at Martinsville. In 2nd was Root followed by Bo Duke, Hutt and Aaron Kappe.

Great racing today from Michigan. Will Kizer took the pole and led the race's first 36 laps before fading to an 18th place finish. For the remainder of the race it was the group of Connor Root, Patrick Hutt, Bo Duke, Mustafa Henderson, Helen Wheels and Wheely McStephens battling it out. With 30 laps left, Root took the lead and held off challenges from Hutt and Duke to get his first career victory.

Red led 320 laps on the day and held off a late challenge from hot shot rookie Connor Root to win his 2nd race of the season. Bo Duke, who has been one of the best short track drivers as well, led 31 laps early on before getting into an accident and finished 42nd.

Segment #1

After the random draw it was Coy Duke sitting on the pole and Connor Root 2nd. Coy led the race's first lap before Root was able to make the pass and after that point there was no catching the #39 car. Root led the final 19 laps of Segment #1 to take the victory. His teammate Max Gresham was 2nd, Coy Duke 3rd, Brett Hawkins 4th and Bo Duke 5th. Impressive showing for Truck drivers as they grabbed the 2nd, 3rd and 4th spots.

Again, like Segment #1, one driver dominated the 20 laps of action. This time it was Jackson Pace who got the pole after the random draw and led all 20 laps of racing. It seems like everyone is laying back waiting for the final shootout. Benton Gale was 2nd followed by Dexter Jackson Sr., Connor Root and Mustafa Henderson.

Connor Root is just too good right now. After starting on the pole, he lost the lead on two different occasions but was able to get it right back both times and held off Jackson Pace to win the 2nd annual All-Star race. Jackson Pace finished 2nd followed by Brett Hawkins, Bo Duke and Mustafa Henderson.

In his last four races counting the all-star race, Root has 2 wins and 2 second place finishes.

I guess I should have paid more attention in the offseason when it was time to change my stats, although I don't know how to improve Mike Schaplowsky. Sometimes he is a top 10 finisher, other times bottom 10. No consistency, has to have something to do with the different type of tracks.

As I admittedly know nothing about racing, my guy is pretty much a crap shoot.

Also, I am interested in putting a driver in the truck series as well, but I can't remember how the rules work as far as promotion/demotion, stuff like that. What's the max I can have in each series? You can have up to 2 drivers in the Truck Series as well as 2 in Cup so 4 maximum.

Blue Neckansack's #96 team has had a terrible Season 3, struggling all season and finding themselves in danger of possibly being demoted to the trucks. That all changed today as the #96 team put a great car together and led the race's final 36 laps as Blue passed Wheely McStephens to get the win. McStephens was 2nd followed by Avery Thomas, Rob Nielsen and Hawk Grey.

Kennington stepped into the #61 Subway/Peak Ford Fusion for a surprise last second entrant into the Sprint Cup Series Cheez-It 355. Kennington went on to crush the field. He started on the pole and led 70 of the race's 90 laps in his first career Sprint Cup Series start. No other car could even stay close to Kennington. He lost the lead for a bit after pit stops but regained it after only a few laps. In 2nd today was Hawk Grey who keeps up his strong run this season. In 3rd was Jace Hunter followed by Hana Ginsberg and Magnus Nielsen. Kennington is next entered into a Sprint Cup race at Iowa.

After a rough outing at Watkins Glen for Connor Root, Lew Sifford has taken back the points lead and has a healthy 23 point lead over Root. With only 2 races remaining until the playoff Sifford has essentially locked his spot up. As of today, the two wild card positions would go to the 11th and 12th place drivers putting the top 12 in the playoffs.

Bo Duke, sitting in 29th place, is in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time as he has struggled all season long. Wheely McStephens sits only 1 spot ahead of Duke and looks like he will miss the playoffs for the first time as well.

Al Cohallik, a playoff driver last season, is in danger of being demoted to the Truck Series unless he can turn his season around in the next 7 races.

2 more good races seem to have Schaplowsky in the hunt for the playoffs, but it'll take a couple top 5 finishes (at least). Still not a bad run. Word is the camp will be looking to add a driver to the Cup Series and a driver, possibly 2 drivers, to the truck series in the offseason

What a mess today at Talladega. 5 cautions knocked out 22 cars from the running. A small pack of cars ran up front all day with Connor Root leading the most laps with 52. As the laps wound down everyone seemed to be on a different pit strategy and it was the #66 team of points leader Lew Sifford who had the best strategy of all as he needed one less pit stop than everyone else and ended up with an easy victory by 16.54 over Jace Hunter. I never thought I'd see something quite like this at a superspeedway. After Hunter in 2nd was Comrade Twelve in 3rd. Benton Gale and Hawk Grey rounded out the top 5.

Only one race remains until the playoffs are set. After his win Lew Sifford has locked up his playoff spot as has Connor Root and Hawk Grey. Rob Nielsen, Helen Wheels and Chuck Long all are in a good spot and only need average runs at Iowa. The real mystery now becomes who will get the final two wild card spots. Red Neckanback sits 9th in points and if he drops out of the top 10 he will automatically get a spot with his 2 wins. Avery Thomas currently has the first wild card spot in 11th. If he gets into the top 10 and Neckanback and Jackson stay in as well that opens up a spot for Blue Neckansack or a new potential winner.

It was starting to look like we wouldn't have a Duke in the playoffs for the first time. Luke Duke, however, made sure that wouldn't happen when he passed Benton Gale for the lead with 27 laps remaining and went on to take the win and get a spot in the playoffs. Gale led 102 laps and finished 2nd. Jeremy Letto came home 3rd and was followed by Hana Ginsberg and Ginny Tonic. Mike Schaplowsky led the most laps with 127 before finishing 11th.

It's been a tough season for Hana Ginsberg. Only one season removed from a trip to the playoffs, Hana struggled throughout the season and missed the playoffs with a 20th place finish after the first 10 races. Today, Cyberams Racing seemed to not just get Hana's teammate David Ginsberg ready for the playoffs, but made sure the #17 car was just as strong. Hana led 109 laps on the day and David led 82 as the teammates finished 1st and 2nd with Hana winning by 8.61 seconds over David's #16 car.

In 3rd place was the Connor Root as he continues his terrific rookie season. In 4th was another playoff driver, Patrick Hutt. And in 5th was Bo Duke who put together a good finish after a frustrating season.

Playoff driver, rookie Chuck Long finished 6th. In 7th was truck series driver Barrett Hays making his Cup Series debut. Deacon Palmer had a strong run with an 8th place finish with Wheely McStephens and Jeremy Letto rounding out the top 10.

Rob Nielsen, looking for his 2nd title finished 11th and playoff driver Avery Thomas was 12th. Lew Sifford finished 14th. Hawk Grey 15th. Helen Wheels finished 17th as she begins her quest for a second straight title. Benton Gale was 20th, Luke Duke 31st. Red Neckanback was the final playoff driver in 33rd.

Food City 500 Preview

The FOFC Sprint Cup Series heads to Bristol tomorrow for the Food City 500 which will be the second of five playoff races. After Atlanta, Connor Root has jumped out to an early 9 point advantage over Lew Sifford. Root has been terrific all season long. Expectations were high for the Season 1 Truck Series champion but I don't think anyone quite expected to see him fare so well so quickly. Sifford is another huge surprise. He was barely a factor in the Cup Series' first two seasons but it's obvious the #66 team took lessons from teammate Helen Wheels' Season 2 championship and applied them to their car as they look for an improbably championship run.

One of the favorites for Bristol has to be Red Neckanback. Neckanback has established himself as one of the top short track drivers on the circuit with two wins this season at short tracks. It wouldn't be a surprise at all to see the #69 car in victory lane.

Expect Neckanback to be strong and I would also expect to see Bo Duke up near the front despite not being in the playoffs.

A bit of a shocker today. After winning his 2nd straight Daytona 500, Comrade Twelve didn't have much to show for his season, until today. The driver of the 12 car led the race's final 60 laps to take the win over Indy Wahl, Aaron Kappe, Will Kizer and Mustafa Henderson.

The top finishing playoff driver was Red Neckanback in 6th. A lot of the playoff drivers had disappointing days, Luke Duke finished 22nd, Patrick Hutt 23rd, Connor Root finished 29th, Hawk Grey 32nd.

Bristol bunched up the points quite a bit with 3 races left. Lew Sifford leads the points by 2 over David Ginsberg. In 3rd is Connor Root only 3 points back from the lead. Chuck Long is 4th only 6 points behind the leader. Rob Nielsen sits in 5th, 9 points back of Sifford. We have a 3-way tie for 6th between Avery Thomas, Patrick Hutt, and Helen Wheels and they are only 14 back from the leader. Benton Gale sits in 9th only 15 back of Sifford.

Bo Duke's #01 team finally found their old form, just a little too late to salvage his season. Bo led 176 laps on the day and picked up an easy win for the #01 team. In 2nd was rookie Connor Root who nows heads to Homestead with a great chance at winning the title.

DNF's from David Ginsberg and Helen Wheels have essentially eliminated them from title contention.

What a statement that was from Connor Root and the #39 team. Root started the day 24th and methodically moved his way up the field before finally taking the lead around halfway through the race. From there no one could touch him. Root dominated, lapping all but 2 cars and beating 2nd place Blue Neckansack by 12 seconds. Root is your Season 3 champion. The rest of the top 5 was Neckansack, Comrade Path, Hana Ginsberg and Bo Duke.
