Here's a funny moment that happened last night (and trust me, I'm in the need for funny right now.. expect another post from me "soon" that will be hard to post).
I'm changing to a more secure password system (because it's easier to remember/forget one master password and then have very strong passwords then 30 or so passwords that have to be fairly basic for me to remember). So I download and install a popular password vault program, and set it up.
I even use a passdice phrase system to generate a master password, and throw in some additions just to make sure it's a super strong password (22 characters). Of course, it would be the height of stupidity to save a master password on the computer, so I copy it to a notepad file, along with a couple passwords I need to enter on other devices (like the Xbox). Saving it would be stupid, so I'm going to print it.
Unfortunately, I still had a couple more passwords to go when I tire out, so I go to bed, and promise to finish it a couple hours later. Then I'd print it out and store it securely.
Except, Windows decides this would be a Jim Dandy Great time to apply those pesky updates, and reboots my machine. This happens to kill the notepad file I had open. And I hadn't written down the password on paper (because my handwriting is so bad, that's what printers are for, right?)
So I had to start over from scratch, resetting all my passwords AGAIN.
And I'm supposed to be a tech geek.
