I won't share a lot of fanfare. Game is familiar, questions were maybe too vanilla, only twenty or so entries. But a solid mix of stupid and wise in play.
1 - What token do you select?
hint: BOYS LIKE CARS
14 car
6 hat
3 dog
I play the hat myself, but Stupid is as Stupid does.
2 - What does your Chance card say?
Jail in or jail out, that is the question...
11 get out of jail free
10 go to jail
advance to Go
advance to Boardwalk
3 - What non-obvious property seems to always kill you?
I think "non-obvious" saved this question, and it turned into a big messy mix. Not sure if that's best for the game, though.
5 - Marvin Gardens
4 - railroads
3 - New York Ave
2 - Water Works, Illinois Ave
Connecticut Ave
Park Place
Pennsylvania Ave
Kentucky Ave
Vermont Ave
Mediterranean Ave
repairs on property
Marvin Gardens was my favorite property growing up, that was until I learned the more evil ways of the orange side. I guess a Stupid interpretation of non-obvious might be "not on the last side of the board" which makes some sense.
4 - What is the right age to introduce your daughter to Monopoly?
hint: STUPID LIKES ROUND NUMBERS
14 ten years old
3 five
3 seven
2 eight
1 never
Eliminator question, sorry. Well, not sorry to anyone who missed it, but sorry that it didn't add real intrigue.
5 - If you're forced to play a game with only one house rule (i.e. variation from the official rulebook), what rule do you choose as the most important to keep in place?
I booted this one, too - I even thought about ruling out free parking and making it interesting but was afraid that would lead to lots of judgment calls. So, I left it in, and it was the runaway winner. Sorry again.
17 free parking cash (variations bundled here)
2 land on Go for $400
roll again after doubles
no mortgaging
fines go to the bank
limit number of buildings
Obviously peripheral answers here coming from folks who don't know the actual rules, which is understandable - it's the most "house rule" laden game in history.
6 - You're playing a variant with friends, and "drafting" properties that you then have to buy at full value. Boardwalk and Park Place went first and second. You pick next and choose to buy...what property?
I wanted to avoid a Boardwalk eliminator here, but am not sure how to take this and shape it into a real, wide open question. I was happy that both Illinois Ave and New York Ave got support (as they are the best real answers, I believe) but the winner was just "whoever is next in line, then."
8 Pennsylvania Ave
5 New York Ave
4 Illinois Ave
2 Marvin Gardens
2 Pacific Ave
