I have dabbled in writing for a long time but have recently taken steps to get more serious about it. And I finished a short story.

I have. That's probably the early plan. I'm still in the "getting my name out there" phase and building a brand/catalogue. But that is a step in my plan.

What I have found so funny in this experience so far is when I re-read my story for about the 100th time, I still found a mistake or two or glaring errors. Lol...oh well.

Believe it or not, I had this one under the title of "Short Story" for about a year, year and a half. I have a habit of just working on a story when I feel like it, and let it sit when I'm not feeling it. Call me GRRM.

But I knew I needed an actual title. Probably took me 15 mins to settle on this one. Felt right once I hit on it.

It's a short story. Nothing wrong with playing off of a famous book title for something like that.
