2018 FOFC Hardcore League II w/keepers - 3 Hour clock starting 3/12 10am

Please tell me who is still in and those who are, post your keepers and the rounds. However, we have some holes to fill in here. At least 3 guys are out.

It appeared that we agreed to keep 6 players.

Keepers will escalate per the following:
Round 1-5 – increase one round per year
Round 6-10 – increase 2 rounds per year
Round 10-15 – increase 3 rounds per year
Round 16-20 – increase 4 rounds per year
Round 20 + - increase 5 rounds per year

Also, note, you cannot keep your first round pick in the second keeper year ever (because 1-1=0). However, please note that year 1 of the keeper is the round you drafted the player in last year. So if you drafted the player in round 2 last year, you keep him with your 2nd round pick this year.

Also, all free agents that are kept are subject to being kept at the last round (28th round) of the draft in year 1, then sliding scale after that. And if you want to keep multiple round 28 guys, you just keep them with the round before

The one thing I would add, and that everybody should read, is that when choosing keepers that have the same round, you want to choose the lowest round for the best player. If you think Marwin is the best keeper, keep him at 28 and keep somebody else at 27, etc.

The logic and the benefit of year 1 is that you get to keep the guy in the round you drafted him. The guy who drafted Aaron Judge in the 20th round, should get the benefit of keeping him in the 20th round. Then the subsequent years you start decreasing.

That's where my disconnect is then. Ramzavail says we can't keep our first rounder from last year based on the 1-1=0 rule, but every other player, for this year only, we can keep with a pick from the same round.

So my question is, if this year only, we're doing same rounds instead of one better, why aren't we able to keep our first rounders, this year only? Are we just making a rule to always exclude them, even this year?

I would rather be consistent across the whole draft class, or I would say there is no reason to ignore the one better pick rule this year for the entire draft class. Basically, I don't get ignoring that rule in our first offseason where we could do it, but still applying it to first rounders, rather arbitrarily.

I understand I will need to track down the Yahoo roster and draft list from the website, but I'm wondering what the point of this sheet is, since it is incomplete. This combination of incomplete spreadsheet, lack of clear explanation and hunting down last year's draft on Yahoo reallt makes picking keepers a chore.

Looks like he wants the pitcher version. That's pretty weird though having him as both pitcher and batter.

I was primarily picking him as a SP, yes, although I would be lying if I said I knew there was more than one Ohtani listing.

I have no idea the proper way to handle that, although I suspect in the first year at least, his value as a pitcher will far exceed his value as a hitter.

As in, I dont know if it will be worth it to anyone to have him as a hitter, since it seems likely he will only have one or two DH turns in between starts. Might occasionally PH and of course he'll hit when he pitches in NL parks.
