2018 Top Gun Draft Thread

Game Rules

1) Participants sign up to play in the sign-up thread. I will try to keep group sizes between 8 and 12 participants.
2) Each participant drafts a team of 6 players participating in the NCAA Tournament. Each participant must draft a player from a team seeded 10-16.
3) Participants' teams will be formed by a snake draft conducted in this thread.
-----a) The draft will start as soon as possible after the Selection Show and run until complete. If not completed by 12pm Thursday EDT, I will auto-fill participants' teams as necessary.
-----b) A draft clock will run from 10am to 6pm EDT each day. During this window, each participant will have 1 hour after the previous selection to draft a player. After 1 hour has elapsed, subsequent participants may cut in line to make selections. The skipped participant may back-fill their selection at any time. (NOTE: this rule relies on participants PMing the teams after them in the draft order. I will use discretion to resolve circumstances involving missed PMs and skipped picks.)
-----c) New for 2018 If a participant has not backfilled a previously missed pick and comes on the clock again, their 1-hour window will be skipped. Participants with back-to-back or hinge picks will have 1 hour to make both of their selections unless they have not backfilled a previously missed pick.
-----d) New for 2018 While the draft clock will not run overnight, four picks will nevertheless come due (that is, one for every four hours of overnight time) as of 10am EDT the following day. I will accept lists or otherwise arbitrate any confusion that arises.
-----e) Please do not sign up if you are unable to 1) participate during the day, 2) send in lists, or 3) be content to backfill your way to a title like Karl can.
4) Participants' teams' scores equal the sum of the teams' players' scoring in the NCAA Tournament. Play-in games do not count towards the standings unless a player is drafted before his team's play-in game and his team loses its play-in game.

New draft rules in action! Now that B & B's time has elapsed, the next two in the draft order are Bishop and Tarc; however, because they missed their prior picks, their window is passed and their picks are open.

Next, the rule making four picks due at the start of tomorrow's clock comes into play. Thus, Vince, Steve, Logan, and Karl are expected to have a pick/list in by 10am EDT.

As far as timing goes, with 7 people in position to pick, there's obviously some sorting out to do.

1. Vince is technically the next player on the clock. He can get a pick in at any time.
2. Once Vince picks, Steve will assume the position of having the first pick due at 10am, and I'll have the fourth pick due at 10am. The four-pick list rolls forward, and whoever is first on that list may choose at any time.
3. The participants with open picks can get their picks in any time overnight, and they'll get their picks, first come, first served.
4. The people behind the first person in line who also have picks due at 10am will leapfrog any picks that remain open at that time if they have submitted their pick/list.

I hope that's clear enough. We need to keep this thing moving!

Play-in games only count if the player is picked prior to the game and their team loses the play-in game. Guarantees that one game counts, prevents an extra game from coming into play.

Suggested rule change. Each team is allowed to pick an additional player either before the sweet 16 or final 4. This player replaces the lowest scoring non 10+ seed player and only his subsequent points count. Draft order goes inverse of points scored
