Not sure if it is all the crack I have been smoking lately, but I have noticed something a little weird with linebackers in FOF4...
Please be warned that this constitutes a "cheat" or "workaround" type thing, so if you dont like knowing of such avenues then dont contine to read. I would also be keen to know if anyone else has had the same results...
After the draft, I usually hire a bunch of rookie free agents to play my exhibition games with my new starters / draftees etc whilst I keep my top 14 vets wrapped in cotton wool (inactive).
A couple of days ago I picked up a couple of OLBs who came in around 6'2 - 6'4" and around 240lbs. I switched one of them to ILB and got the message that it may result in a permanent increase in the stats. Cool, I made the switch. Then I decided to switch the player back to OLB on a whim (the crack you see)...
And I got the message that it may result in a permanent increase in the players stats.
What? The player is back at his original position with stats slightly increased on what they were to begin with... WTF? Note that I have done nothing else but go into the player screen and change the position and then change it back. No game time has elapsed and I have made no other changes.
So I switch the OLB back to ILB again. Same message - stats increased. I keep switching the player back and forth between ILB and OLB until all his potentials are maxed at 100 and his current (red bar) ratings are up a bit too.
I have found that this will work for any rookie ILB or OLB as long as they are within certain parameters:
Only LBs that have the option to switch to either SLB, SILB, MLB and WLB will be able to do this. It makes no diff which OLB position switches to which ILB position, i.e. SLB to WILB works and WILB back to WLB back to MLB. If the LB has other options, like DE or S or CB then it wont work. Only LBs with just the five LB positions will be able to be manipulated. Thus LBs with the physical characteristics above are usually suited.
Now I'm not advocating changing your LBs to super LBs, just thought I would share my little discovery...:D Although I am pretty confident that there will already be a bunch of threads on this somewhere...
