I'll be in Boston this weekend, suggestions?

from New Jersey I'm heading up to Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut Friday night, then up to Boston for Saturday/Sunday with my girlfriend.

Anyone have any good suggestions for activities in Boston this weekend?

have fun at foxwoods friday. You've ever been before? i'm like 15 minutes away and i still think it's pretty amazing. Considering it's in the middle of this little rural town. You come around the corner on Route 2 and bam! It's like the emerald city.

Catch a red sox game while you are in Boston. If you're into the whole clubbing scene check out a few of the clubs down on landsdowne street. I'm not into that whole scene myself, but i hear it's pretty good. Boston is a fun city to just roam around. Definately check out the Boston Commons and take a walk along the Charles River. Harvard Square is a very nice place to check out. And Quincy Market is nice too. You should definatley get to Boston Beer works too. The Prudential and Copley Square are good for some shopping. Annnd if you're into the punk scene, there's a show or two this weekend.

go check out McSweeny's town. neat little place. If you have the time drive the cape. Take the north road up and the south road back. What a great drive. You are probably too early to catch a cape cod league ball game.

more specifically what I'm looking for:

Touristy, local flavor sort of stuff. I don't want to spend tons of money (unless I win a lot of it at Foxwoods the night before :D).

The Sox game is out of the question, the girlfriend already shot it down. Aside from that I really don't enjoy baseball. I do however want to take the stadium tour, and will try to twist my girlfriends arm into that.

Nightlife suggestions are welcome too, we'll be in town Saturday evening.

Touristy things include the Freedom Trail, Fanneul Hall/Quincy Market, the Boston Common and State House, the Bull & Finch Pub (Cheers), the Boston Duck Tour, and the view from the Prudential Tower.

You can start the Freedom Trail at the Boston Common, if I'm not mistaken and walk to Quincy Market/Fanneul Hall. There is a lot of history along the way. The Bull and Finch is just off the Common, as is the State House (but on opposite sides). I'm biased, but Harvard Yard and Harvard Square are pretty cool too.

Over near the city, up in the meadowlands. Long story (not even a good one), but we wanted to go down there for a few things, had some free rooms given from a vendor, but couldn't find any in the city. THis one was the closest.

We try to get down there a few times a year for baseball and other things :)

Yeah you can start at the commons and go to the market. I usually go the other way when family visits. They love to see Quincy Market and the things along the way. Pretty neat historical sites along the way if you like the revolutionary period.

I went to Boston a couple of summers ago and had a blast. Drop your girlfriend off on Beacon Street and let her shop while you do the Fenway tour. I would go see the game, but you need to at least see Fenway. All the Freedom trail sites are pretty good too. If you like Italian food, make sure to go to one of the dozens of great restaurants in the North End. Tons of great seafood in the city too. I enjoyed just walking around different parts of the city, like Beacon Hill. It's a great city. I wish I were going this weekend.

If you go a little north (amtrak may take you) you could go to Salem and some of the nice things on Cape Anne.

A trip to Walden is good afternooner, and you will be close to Concord where you can see the Minute Man Statue, the Old North Church, the Alcott house, etc. A fine day.

1) Try a Duck Tour. They drive all over the city and even take a spin in the Charles River.
2) Freedom Trail - History. LOTS of History.
3) Fenway Park.
4) Quincy Market - shopping and lots of bars.
5) Newberry St - upscale shopping
6) Drinks at the Bay Tower Room. Restaraunt on the 30-somethingth floor of a high-rise. Great view of the harbor/airport/waterfront/North End. (Wear a collared shirt)
7) An Irish Bar - we're loaded with em. The Black Rose (Quincy Market) plays Irish drinking songs. For Irish folk music, try the Burren (Davis Square in Somerville - take the Red Line)
8) Cheers on Beacon St also include the FABULOUS Boston Public Garden right across the street.
9) Walk around the South Slope of Beacon Hill (not far from Cheers). Check out the antique stores on Charles Street. Mt Vernon, Chestnut St, Louisburgh Sq are beautiful. Also look for Acorn St - get a map or ask someone because it's small and kind of hidden. Looks exactly like it did almost 200 years ago (except for the cars).
10) Dinner in the North End. Wander Salem St, Hannover St, and the small side streets until one looks good. They are all small and most are very good. On a Saturday night, expect LONG waits though. But worth it.
11) For seafood, Legal Seafood is hard to beat. It's touristy but they do have good food.
12) If you win a lot at Foxwoods, eat at Olives in Charlestown. My personal favorite but it's pricy.
13) The view of the city from the Cambridge side of the Massachusetts Ave bridge is nice.

If you need or want more info on Concord you can ask me since I live down the street from all these places (except the Old North Church, which is closer to Boston.)
