Ok, here are the much awaited results...
We had a solid 31 participants this time around, and here's how the questions went down...
For my first question, I went with Baseball, my favorite sport, and tried to come up with the closest, most difficult to predict race this year. It seems as if you guys have already narrowed it down to two…the Cards and Cubs. Although I’m proud to report that at least one of you thinks that my Giants are good enough to win the NL Central :)
1) Who will win the NL Central?
<pre><font face="courier" size=1>
St. Louis Cardinals 13
Chicago Cubs 11
Houston Astros 4
Cincinnati Reds 1
Kansas City Royals 1
San Francisco Giants 1
</pre></font>
RonnieDobbs’ first question was a doozy, and I’m glad I didn’t have to guess. In a wide open field, this was more of a runaway than I thought it would be.
2) NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year
<pre><font face="courier" size=1>
Suggs 17
Newman 9
Trufant 1
Williams 1
McDougle 1
Kennedy 1
Polamalu 1
</pre></font>
RonnieDobbs’ second question, and my personal favorite, turned out to be a dead heat…it seems that you were all thinking oldies are goodies!
3) Nicholson’s Best Movie
<pre><font face="courier" size=1>
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest 10
The Shining 10
A Few Good Men 7
Batman 1
As Good As It Gets 1
About Schmidt 1
Chinatown 1
</pre></font>
My second question, and it turns out that this could have been the deal breaker for those in first place. The un-cola put up a better fight than I thought it would, but it was a lowly fourth place finish.
4) Best Soft Drink Excluding Coke/Pepsi?
<pre><font face="courier" size=1>
Mountain Dew 11
Dr. Pepper 9
Sprite 6
7-Up 5
</pre></font>
RonnieDobbs’ last question, and there was some serious dogfighting. Oakland, Boston, Chicago, Montreal and Los Angeles were all separated by only one vote. Too bad that Philadelphia ran away with this one ridiculously.
5) Worst Sports Fans?
<pre><font face="courier" size=1>
Philadelphia 22
Oakland 2
Boston 2
Chicago 1
Montreal 1
Los Angeles 1
</pre></font>
My last question, which I thought was a good one, featured such heavy hitters as Al Capone, Jack the Ripper, and even Jesus Christ. But in the end, not even Abraham Lincoln could stand up to Adolf Hitler’s dominance.
6) Notorious Historical Figure?
<pre><font face="courier" size=1>
Adolf Hitler 25
Billy the Kid 1
Jesus Christ 1
Abraham Lincoln 1
Christopher Columbus 1
Al Capone 1
Jack the Ripper 1
</pre></font>
And the winner is…Hammer755 and cuervo72! Both managed a solid 100%. Congrats guys, and I look forward to the next contest!
I'm going to edit this message (for formatting) and post the results in a little bit.
