I know there will be an FOF4 update later this year, but does anyone know whether there will be a schedule/roster strength update for TCY?

Forget an update, Give us TCY2.....Because Jim should look at the new features of NCAA 04 and Madden 04, they are getting closer every year to becoming just as deep as text sims....

The People need TCY2, Not just an update....

I agree 100% with Husker, I enjoyed TCY more than another FOF version. Saying that though, I did enjoy the newest version of FOF more than previous editions.

Not caring at all about College Football, I was surprised how much I enjoyed TCY. I would go back to playing it if recruiting was done in the off-season and there was a filter to narrow down searches. Since both these things are missing, it takes way too long to play for the way I like to play.

I guess we'll just have to wait a year.

I bet we are going to have to wait until 2005 for a new TCY : (

I know it won't come out this year, but I hope we don't have to wait til '05!!!

I recall in one of his interviews Jim said that TCY needed a playcalling interface, like the one he put in FOF4. I wonder what TCY fans would say about that. Personally, I like the playcalling interface, but don't think TCY "needs" it. I think the main thing that it "needs" is better AI clock management and playcalling. I'm so sick of my offensive coordinator (with terrific playcalling skills) calling for long passes when we are winning by less than 7 and have the ball with less than two minutes left in the game.

I'd also like to see the players that are already on my roster evaluated not by the local scout, but by a consensus of the entire staff (which would rely partly on the local scout's ability, partly on the ability of the scout that was involved in recruiting the player, and partly on the basis of the player's on-field performance).

I could go on and on.... TCY is my favorite version so far, and I really had no interest at all in college football when I bought the game.

I'd be more excited about .400 studios new football sims, either college or pro before jim's because they'll probably be out long before.

If Jim add his FOF4 playcalling interface and releases tcy2 without any financial upgrades I am comming after him. FOF4 was a complete step in the wrong direction. With EA quickly expanding there sims in the dynasty area I fear that there will be no 2005 for TCY or FOF.

Without a major upgrade in the Empire/Financial builing aspects of FOF/TCY the end is near for SOL/Studios.

Here are a few of the ideas I've read on this thread, that I just want to agree with. A few of my own ideas are at the end of this post.

-- have the ability to take to make adjustments in the gameplay/roster at halftime...

-- There should be a recruiting feature that allows you to take recruits to strip clubs. ;-}

-- There really needs to be an elaborate recruit filter. I spent way too much time with pencil and paper. If I want to list all LBs over 6'0, with a 1000+ SAT, a 75+ athletic prep, a 50+ academic prep, a 3.30 GPA+, with at least 30 tackles in their last year in high school, who live in the northwest, I should be able to do this.

-- I would say just continue to perfect the actual game engine, as well as the recruiting aspect (look at the rosters of teams like UCLA...most of the players are from CA and surrounding states), include playcalling, and make the pbp scroll (ootp) or progress (cm) to build tension.

For example:

Smith back to pass
(.5 second pause)
Smith evades the USC rush and rolls out of the pocket to his right...
(1 second pause)
... etc. etc. etc.

(I LOVE this idea, but if it would significantly delay the release of TCY2, I could certainly live without it)

The following are my own comments, from a previous thread...

-- I recall in one of his interviews Jim said that TCY needed a playcalling interface, like the one he put in FOF4. I wonder what TCY fans would say about that. Personally, I like the (FOF4) playcalling interface, but don't think TCY "needs" it. I think the main thing that it "needs" is better AI clock management and playcalling. I'm so sick of my offensive coordinator (with terrific playcalling skills) calling for long passes when we are winning by less than 7 and have the ball with less than two minutes left in the game. (Also hate it when my Def Coord calls time out while we're down by 40 points and opponent has the ball inside our 20 with less than 2 minutes left).

-- I'd also like to see the players that are already on my roster evaluated not by the local scout, but by a consensus of the entire staff (which would rely partly on the local scout's ability, partly on the ability of the scout that was involved in recruiting the player, and partly on the basis of the player's on-field performance). Once the player is on my team and has been in a few games, shouldn't the entire staff have a say in the player's evaluation?

Can't wait to see TCY2, and would be willing to pay for it in advance of completion if that would help bring this project to the top of Jim's "to-do list".

TCY single-handedly got me into college football. I really never cared about it before, and would maybe watch the national championship. Now I'm a die-hard fan who will watch almost any game I'm around for. Already being a huge NFL fan I guess it's easier now to appreciate incoming rookies after watching some of them for a few years. It's made watching the NFL draft a lot more interesting.

But back to the games themselves - FOF2001 is probably the best game I've ever played, but TCY is arguably just as good. It's also the most challenging of the bunch - the dynasty reports confirm it. It took me until my 7th season to have a winning record with Rutgers, and the Indiana Village challenge is in 2039 and still without a national title.

Just reading the feature list ofr NCAA '04 and Madden '04, it would appear as though they are getting as close to the text sims. But I don't buy it for one second. I'll beleive it when i see it, and I'm doubtful that I will see it.
