Corey Dillon predicts Bengals will win the AFC North in 2003 (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=fanball-bengalsdillonpredict&prov=fanball&type=lgns)
News
Corey Dillon is known for running his mouth, and he ran it some more on Wednesday, when he gave the Cincinnati Enquirer a bold prediction for the upcoming year. "I pick us," Dillon said when asked who would win the AFC North title. "I go with us. I'm saying if I were a betting man, I would bet on us. I just feel confident about what we're doing." Dillon, among others, is psyched about new head coach Marvin Lewis.

It's a good thing Dillon is rich, because bets like that could send you to the poor house in a hurry. We are hoping that an improved defense will lead to consistency from Dillon, who has been a roller coaster ride throughout his career. Another 1,300 yards and 8-10 touchdowns are likely from Dillon.

Corey Dillon doesn't need to smoke anything. He's high on LIFE.
Well, there was that coke bust in school.... but forget that. This man is smrt.

That's about an 8 on the unintentional comedy scale. :)
edit: only a 5 on the intentional one, though. ;)

Maybe the bungles should have made him sign a no-talk Clause like they made Palmer.....

He based his prediction on Madden, while playing under rookie difficulty. :)

Would you rather have your best player talking like this, or going out and saying, "Man, this is Cincy. You know we're gonna suck."
Personally, I'd bitch-slap any player of mine who went around saying anything BUT what Dillon said. You can't win if you don't believe you can win.
Am I on crack? Do I think the Bungles have a shot at a division title? No... but I applaud Dillon's commitment to his team and his bold stance. Maybe his attitude will rub off on his teammates.

OK, it's unrealistic, but someone from this team needs to step up and make everyone around them believe that they can win. Dillon is taking that leadership role, and who knows, it may be enough to add a few more wins to what they would have otherwise had.

Who thought St. Louis would've been a contender?!?
I think he went a little extreme, but he could've said, "I'm excited...I feel we can compete...I feel we can win."

The only thing keeping the Benals from winning the North is the Schedule this season. They have one of the worst ones in the league. If they could just play the other North teams they WOULD win the north.
Pittsburgh will have a strong defense as always, but the maddux touch is not going to carry them again.
Baltimore has no quarterback and they're also revamping a defense albeit with some very good draft picks. Until they learn how to score, they're still the truly least competitive team in the division.
Cleveland was a shocker last year, this team has so little talent overall they shouldn't have won 5 games let alone 9.
Will the Bengals win the North? I don't know. I doubt it due to the overall schedule. Will they make a run at the playoffs? oh yeah. They brought in the pieces they needed for a change instead of what they could afford cheaply. This is a team that can and will win games.
Dillon runs for 1600 yards, the defense ranks in the top 5 in the league, and rackers actually makes 90%+ in the kicking game. ok rackers is a long shot, but still.....
From a teammates p.o.v this is a good thing. They need CONFIDENCE. That's what they get from Dillon. No hater here.

If he says what he really thinks the Bengals will fine him millions, so what the hell, why not make shit up?

Gimme the bengals and odds and ill bet you that they will win the AFC North and not just cause those odds would be a million to one. I honestly think that if they can avoid a QB controversy they could be very competitive. The started to show some promise at the end of last season.

should've known we'd never get far...
Now back to the thread topic. More power to him if he wants to say that. It's better than him saying that his team sucks and they have no chance. That would kind of ruin team chemistry a bit.
