First time posting with phone so bear with me. Last week the local cable provider
(Not ours) started upgrading their access in my neighborhood. Holes everywhere so they can replace their cables. No problems for the most part-just a water main break not on my street. So Thursday they get to my street and everything is fine at first but about 8 pm half the neighborhood loses power-me included for about 3 hours. Friday before the long holiday weekend about five o’clock, I’M playing city of heroes and I lose connection and phone tv and internet not working. So we call our provider spectrum they send someone out and he is here 10 minutes comes to the door and says our cable has been cut and there is nothing he can do because our connection is on the other side of the street which means a special team will have to come because they will have to tear up the street to repair it.

Can’t come during the holiday weekend and because they have a govt contrast with this repair team the earliest they could come would be the 31st or up to 10 days later. No one has called or shown up yet😩

And if it's related to a city contract, do the same thing to the managers, mayor, whomever else needs to be aware of it, especially if they're the reason why you're not getting a fix.

Day 2 no sign of repair guys yet spectrum has a govt contract with the company who is doing the repairs so we have to live with their schedule. Basically told us this was our only option.

Two bright sides-1. I found out by accident that we still had access to th the side our computer are one DVR Or did at least until Sunday when we lost the box entirely
2-We still have limited internet access on one side of the house sadly not the side that has our computers on it

Use your phone as a hotspot. That is what I have been doing until I get internet at my new house.

Use your phone as a hotspot. That is what I have been doing until I get internet at my new house.

Odd aside: discovered today that we'd been paying $20/month _per device_ on our AT&T phone account for wireless hotspot ability. That acct covered three devices so it had been $720/year for something we typically used maybe once or twice a year for a few hours total.

Mentioning simply cause I had no idea that change was so significant (i.e. phone bills just came down a tick)

Day 3: I have everything back. My mom called while I was on a walk that they had come-not sure how long they were there-15 mins or so? And we have a normal life again.

Felt kinda cut off from the world with only a newspaper to catch up on things-missed sporting events like the Indy 500 and Coastal Carolina's baseball team somehow getting to the NCAA Regionals as a 5th seed in the Sun Belt and losing their first game in the conf. tourney before winning the next four or five.

They ended up in a tough regional with Georgia Tech and Auburn, and what's been killing them all year-their pitching did it again. Had at times a 5 run lead over Tech in an elimination game and let it all slip away. :(

Nice to not have to type all that out on a phone. :)

Man...if no cable and and no cell phone is your hell, it is really true that one man's heaven is another man's hell.

I'd gladly trade cable and phone for closed circuit porn channels and a topless resort.
