Setting up a web based business

I have seen several posts referencing websites that users (or their spouses) have set up to sell items. I've got an idea for something I would like to sell through a website but have no idea what that entails. I used to work on PC's back in the DOS/Windows 3.1 days but I am completely illiterate when it comes to the internet (other than basic downloading/surfing). Would anyone mind giving me some ideas, methods to start out with as far as setting up a website?

I started a web based business.

Babysitting by web cam.

And I have a russian mail order site that gives you a link of pictures and an email address. And a pay pal link. I get my sister to send letters to these losers so they will give me an extra $15. They think they 'might' get lucky so they try. Disposable income is easy to steal. These arent the exact details, but enough to let you know where i am coming from.
