I'm the troutyest trout that ever trouted. I have followed this at all, but on what has seeped in against my will as the media has been force feeding this down everyone's throat, both people are pretty gross.

Same boat as GrantDawg. I have not paid attention but still have seen a lot due to the media (both traditional and social) being all over it. Both sound like a nightmare to be around and at this point I could not care less who was worse.

I'm #teamtrout. It's difficult to read any analysis of this shitshow and not come to the conclusion that these are two very unpleasant people who likely did a lot of horrible stuff to each other.

Heard. Some of the shit that has gone is so funny. This is almost a comedy skit. Catch the high lights, they are pretty funny.

Add me to the “I’ve tried to avoid it, but imagine they are both terrible” camp.

Trout. It would be nearly impossible for me to care less than I do.

Trout. I don't know why this is getting so much play in the media, IDGAF.

This trial caused me to use twitter's mute word feature for the first time ever (I muted "Depp")

From what little I can glean, it seems like the trial is another opportunity for the worst people on the internet to blindly attack her because she's a woman. So that sucks. But I have no idea what the case is really about or who should "win."

I haven't seen enough to know which one (or both) is lying, or which one to root for.

It seems like they're playing a game of some sort. Maybe a long-game cautionary tale or a parody of whatever Instagram/TikTok is all about with young people.

Surely, as far as movie careers go, this is mutally-assured destruction in that each has destroyed his or her future box office.

Depp's starting to remind me of Ron Jeremy. But I can't think of a better illustration of A) why you shouldn't do drugs if even the stigma is gone and it's pretty much legal now and B) why when you get a divorce, the less space that your ex occupies in your mind, the better you'll feel about your own life.

Mostly, though, I think of the remarkable amount of court time they've eaten up and how in the world the legal system expects us to take it seriously when this circus is on display.

Yeah this is my main issue with the whole thing too. It's got a real incel vibe to it that doesn't sit right with me. Could care less about either of them in general.

Maybe it's just the difference in our feeds or something but I've seen far more women go after her than men.

At the risk of a near-sidebar/sidetrack, a recurring theme in this thread kinda has me scratching my head.

Sure, there's been a media frenzy (best I can tell) but the way the topic has hammered social media (broadly speaking) I can't say that isn't simply media responding to demand/interest.

But that aside, is it really THAT hard for people to avoid the subject? I'm aware of it because it's a popular sideshow on Twitter but I doubt I've seen it mentioned three times total aside from the Trending stuff on the Twitter side panel. Likewise, I think my entire FB feed has mentioned it in maybe two threads and those lasted about a day each. And it was literally just 2 people out of 700+.

Are you following people that post about it a lot? Maybe THAT is the issue more than "the media".

And if you mean traditional media rather than social media, maybe it's time to examine more closely what you're watching/reading if you're getting an overdose on that subject. I'm far from disconnected from events - be those local, national, or international, yet I haven't gotten any sense of being beaten over the head with the celeb news. It's there but I hardly ever click, so it's no more or less than just another advertisement for me to ignore basically.

To be clear: I'm not criticizing, I'm trying to ask a sincere question. Basically, wtf media are you consuming where you're getting annoyed by getting OD'ed on trial coverage?

It's been mentioned pretty much nightly on our local news. (Sinclair station, for whatever that's worth.)

I kept seeing it on twitter, but no so much from people I follow. Instead it was with the "you may be interested in" or whatever they call it suggested links.

My guess is that the algorithm (correctly) associates me with being interested in legal stuff, so it started promoting this. The problem is that this isn't legal news; it is celebrity news that happens to be a civil trial.

I will say that simply muting Depp pretty much got rid of it for me on the twitter feed.

I've literally seen almost nothing because I don't watch TV or really do social media. That being said I have seen enough to know that she would shit on his side of the bed for god knows what reason and that he has a drug problem and honestly who knows what he did when he was so high he doesn't remember. They both are bad people and the relationship was toxic. I guess we are doing this simply because she decided to go public with how shit of a person he is? I guess in that sense I will side with him. As toxic as this was and as bad of people as these two are none of this should have ever went public.

Huh. So this really ended up becoming “He’s a man; she’s a woman. Root accordingly.“

I feel happy that I avoided as much of this story as I could and didn't really know what the fuck was going on. I guess I was more astonished by how long the trial went on and how many people seemed to care.

She lost credibility (hahahahahaha) with me, when she denied shitting the bed and then Momoa came on and said she shit in the pool they were in during a scene.

Really, this was just comedy gold throughout.

Er, didn't know about that. Good thing I wasn't reading everything about the trial.

From the little bit of what I saw about Momoa, he's an asshole acting like that in court video conference.
