We're headed to the Seattle area in a few weeks. Mainly going to spend time in the national parks, but we will have a couple of days in town.
I am assuming that going up the Space Needle is worth it, but I was a bit sticker shocked by the ticket price.
If it is one of those "worth doing once" things, then I am happy to do it. But I guess I'd like a heads up on whether it is one of those "biggest tourist-trap/scams out there" things.
Thanks.

IDK, but I did the arch in St. Louis once. I am glad I did it, but I will never do it again. I imagine the Space Needle might be along the same lines.

what is definitely worth it is the area AROUND the space needle. THe international fountain.
There is a small church across the street from the fountain with really neat stained glass saints.
inside the main building is like a lot of food and a children's museum on lower floor.
It also has the scariest elevator in the world. rickety AF

Hey man. I’m busy but I’ll write back soon or you can message me on Facebook. Lived there for 5 years so happy to give some advice.

Hard to say. I lived out there for almost a decade and never went.
Vancouver has a similar tower (it's about two stories shorter) with a revolving restaurant at the top and no tourist fees (the restaurant was a bit overpriced, but not insanely so). It was fun to eat there and see the views, but nothing like being in NYC and going up the Empire State Building.
I'd skip it if you have other things you want to see.

I skipped the Space Needle when I went there for my Pack Up + Go trip. Don't feel like I missed anything at all. Once you've been to a couple structures like that, you've pretty much been to them all IMO. And all the locals I talked to told me not to bother.
Lathum is definitely a great resource - I made time to go to the UWash campus on his advice and I'm so glad I did (Though granted, that was relevant to my interests, and I wound up talking to a couple people in the English department)
