Yes... Grand Theft Auto 4 is coming out. It' kinda like Gabbo on the Simpsons. Anyway, for those who don't play it, it's really about a mobster running around with machine guns and heavy artillery and basically, you get the story after noting the title. Now that the 1970's and the 1980's have already been covered in Grand Theft Autos III and Vice City. It's onto the Clinton era of the 90's. The game will obviously take place in a place of hedonism, crime and other evil what-not. So, if we held Rockstar Games hostage and told em where to put GTA 4, where would it take place in ?

I really, really hope it is Vegas. That would be so cool, especially driving up and down the strip. :)
However, I heard that the general consensus is that it will be a Silicon Valley type setting (like Vice City is Miami, they will have a fancy name for Silicon Valley).

VEGAS! Since they've done the 60s and 80s in the series, maybe this one will be the 70s? ;)
I'd rather have it be present day, but the 70s wouldn't bother me too much.

Awww... Silicon Valley ? I bet the only thing that the Mobster (I'm assuming that you might control a different mobster)can do is bash computers and make fun of Windows 3.1.

dola..
It'd be strange if they switch from the 70's and the 80's and go to the Middle Ages. Grand Theft Auto: In Saxony.

LOL
I was actually thinking (in a brainstorm daydream) of having it in 1930s Chicago... but the problem would be lack of radio stations and not as many fun weapons.

You do have the Thompson, and it'd be cool to have a shootout with the Untouchables or Bugs Moran. Unfortunately, 1930s Chicago was already covered in the "Mafia" PC game.

Yeah, but GTA3 and Vice City had so many different weapons :D. It'd be hard to drive by with a Thompson :D.

Unless Rockstar Games allowed you to control extra gangsters and have them drive the car while the main character let's loose the traditional drive-by. Other things Rockstar needs to look at are the complicating target system with the M-16 ( I had trouble with that), the REAL physics on the car (I know it's an arcadish like game in a sense but why not lean towards realism) and a neverending radio broadcast thing (that seems neverending but it then reverts after 16 some broadcasts and not just 5 like the "Pressing Issues" thing). It also needs to support Online gaming on the consoles, and even though I'm a PS2 type of guy, it wouldnt be fair if we didnt put it on X-BOX and Gamecube.

I'd like to see GTA4 have more choices in dialogue... like you can pick which mission you'd like to go on ("You can either do A or B").
And perhaps be able to choose which gang you work for (and have different paths to victory because of it). Like have the Mafia, Yakuza, and the Cartel and you can pick and join either one, and then continue on one of the three paths.

I'd like to see it be in San Francisco in the late 60's so I can go around killing hippies.

And it needs to be more interractive with other charracters and people on the street like in Shemue, like you mentioned in terms of dialogue. After the main story in GTA: VC, I found my character just going around doing random acts of violence and lobbing molotov cocktails at random.

See, I was thinking of people on the street, but I don't think Rockstar would add dialogue with them... many because they want to preserve the action-y game.

Well, I'm thinking more interraction with the main characters, if adding more dialogue to people on the street isn't on their list as of yet. Also, more buildings really need to be available for the character to enter, I'm tired of going to the Ocean Hotel or the Malibu Club all the time, hopefully Rockstar added something to remedy this.

I just hope the game is a lot more open ended. It would be great to have your actions affect how your character progresses. Add to that a couple different endings and I will go back and play it again and again.
As for the settings, of the choices Las Vegas would be the best. However Rockstar seems to like making their own cities. Id love to create mindless destuction in a different country. A China setting would be a lot of fun. Ninjas throwing little stars at you and chasing you down the street with swords. Hookers walking down the street saying "me suck you good" or "sucky sucky $10".
Come to think of it, Iraq would be fun too. Destroy the palaces and steal back the priceless artifacts only to sell them on the black market. The possibilities are endless.

They do, but I heard that Grand Theft Auto Vice City could also be released on X-BOX and Gamecube.

San Francisco would be the best! Remember the movie bullit? Come on now SF would be the best city to put GTA4 in. For some reason I want to be able to drive in the SF zoo.

Hell yeah, with that car chase and Steve McQueen. Too bad we can't get him to do some voice acting because um of that rotten deal with mesethelioma. Probably would be cool having a car chase across the Golden Gate Bridge.
