Who really is the best team in college basketball. It is not clear who is the favorite next year. With Carmelo gone Syracuse has no chance, and with Ford gone Texas has no chance. I think that Michigan State will have an outstanding year. They have a good chance in the tournament. They aren't losing much besides Big Al and a freshman who made a stupid choice.

I think SU has more than no chance. With Warrick, MacNamarra, Edelin and Pace, they will be a top 20 team preseason. Note that is better than they were last year preseason, so it is tough to say any team has no chance.

I don't think preseason means much, nothing really does. Once you get into the tournament everything changes.

I can't really see an argument for anyone but Connecticut as the pre-season #1. They bring back the whole team but Hayes and Robertson. It's one last run for the Big East in hoops.
Keep in mind they beat Syracuse twice last year.

Duke's freshman all add another year under their belt.

dola..
If Bruce Weber can hold fort at Illinois then they have some great talent on that squad. I'd put them in the top 5-7 teams easily.

What, no one thinks UC Santa Barbara is going to run the table? :)
Seriously, though...I think many people will discount Syracuse now that 'melo is gone, but I agree with Samdari. They'll be right up there.
