The 2050 Superbowl was just completed in a test file I’m following as a spectator and oh boy was it ever a doozy. I tried to attach photos but it wouldn’t let me, so I’ll describe what took place.
The Houston Texans were trailing the Arizona Cardinals with the score being 17-10 at halftime. Early in the 3rd quarter the Texans score a touchdown that should have tied the game, but the extra point was blocked. Still trailing, 17-16. Fast forward to the 4th quarter with 2:29 remaining in the game, and the Cardinals successfully kick a 47-yard field goal. Crushing for Houston. It’s now 20-16 Cardinals.
Cardinals kickoff and the Texans return the ball 34 yards. Enter the two minute warning.
- Incomplete pass
- Delay of game on QB
- 3rd down..24-yard completion for a 1st down with 11 yards after that catch
- Dropped pass but Arizona called for defensive holding
- 5-yard completion with 9 yards after the catch
- QB scramble for 12 yards
- QB sacked for a loss of 6 yards
26 seconds now remain on the clock.
- On 2nd and 16, 20-yard completion with 5 yards after the catch
- Timeout with 26 seconds left on the clock
- BOOM! 9-yard Touchdown with seconds left. But wait..it’s called back as Texans TE was called for DEFENSIVE 12 on-field???
- 10 seconds left on the clock and a pass intended for that same TE falls incomplete. A chance at redemption so close
- Final play of the game with the clock ticking down and TOUCHDOWN! 14 yard completion, caught by that same TE! Redemption! 1 second left on the clock and the Houston Texans have won the SuperBowl!
Now, how freakin’ awesome would that be to watch live? Pretty great finish there.
Now, I do have a question. I apologize if this is easily explained and I’m missing something obvious…but how can a TE playing offense be called for DEFENSIVE 12 on-field? Was this just a text bug and it meant to say offensive 12 on field? I suppose I’m just not understanding how that’s possible?
But holy cow was that ever an exciting sequence to follow! I love this game, and once they fix the AI releasing players issue I can’t wait to get into a real long-term sim.
