Is there a reason all players are not on showing up on the trade screen?

Is there a reason all players are not on showing up on the trade screen? I am in the pre-season, but my team and other teams just show mostly starters and highly rated players on the trade screen. Is this some kind of default by the AI? For example, players the other team would not take need not be included and they assume that I would not take their scrubs as well.

I think I remember that you can’t trade players signed that same season - could it be that?

Maybe, some of the players were signed by the computer. Thanks for the info. Make sense. since this was a historical file, I just started.
