Bit of a weird question I guess but has anyone ever attempted to create an offline backup of FOFC? for 'archival' purposes - with the recent outages I'm wondering if it's worth it, to preserve the sacred knowledge of our FOF Forefathers.

I created a powershell script that I run every time I close the application. It zips up the files and copies them to my dropbox.

The application? What exactly are you referring to backing up here?

What I backup, and maybe not what you were referring to, is all of the save files so that if the game crashes I can also do a restore.

Ah right okay - yeah I've got a Python script that does a weekly zip and backup to my Googledrive mostly as a failsafe in case I lose all of my gameplans and playbooks (for whatever they are worth...). Mine doesn't run each time the application closes though - that's pretty slick!

What I would love to do, is figure out how to backup/create an offline archive of FOFC - to preserve the knowledge dropped in these threads!

Classic misunderstanding: HansMellman is talking about "FOFC", this website/forum, while redfox0000 is talking about "FOF", the game we play.
