Feel free to use this as an all purpose dumping ground to talk about your grandparents or your parents as grandparents.

Me? I'm going to talk about becoming a first-time grandparent in September. I'm 61 and have also decided to retire from teaching (well, technically use up all of my remaining leave before I formally retire). I've been at FOFC since the early days - I even remember the first iteration as The Sideline. I remember people joking about our senior member (Bucc) back in the old days and now I'm officially a senior citizen. I think I was around since 1999 and FOF2 when my daughters were 8 and 5. That 5-year-old is now 31 and expecting my grandson. She is also putting an offer on a house today so hopefully that works out for her and her husband. I have offered some financial assistance if they potentially come up short.

BTW 40 years as a teacher and I realized that I've had enough. It was death by a thousand cuts that did me in. The students are still mostly good and I'm still good at my job but I'm just tired of the associated bullshit of a lot of minor changes.

Congrats! My daughter turns 30 at the end of the year. It is crazy how much time has gone by while being a member of this board.

Ugh, we welcome our 8th grandchild last year (62 years old), when I joined this site I had yet to meet my current wife (of soon to be 20 years) and my oldest kid was 19....Never really thought of how long ago that was.

40 years in the classroom? Salute to you Sir!

I went from zero grandkids to four grandbabies back in December. The only thing I know so far is their parents only kinda sorta exist not that the grandbabies have come into my life. :D

I joined this site when I was just married and a few years away from having kids. Now I have one who is one year away from college, and one who enters high school in the fall.

It really is insane how long many of us have been around here. I've been a member of this board, in some form or another, for over half my life.
