Why is the available cap from the league list of teams differ from what is shown as available cap on the player salary negotiation screen? Which one is right?

Are you before the draft? Best I can think of is that FOF figures out how much your drafted rookies are going to cost, and removes it from your available cap.

I'll have to check but I think it happens no matter what stage I'm in.

It happens at any stage that I've tried...maybe I'm missing something but it seems to be everywhere.

Can you show screenshots? I just looked at leagues I just loaded in various parts of the season, and I'm seeing the same number for my cap room in:

Salary cap report
Team Roster view
Player Negotiation Screen

If you show me where you're looking, I can try to check.

Well, I think I've figured out what the issue is with the cap showing different amounts. The column I was looking at on the Salary Cap Report page was for rosters with estimated salaries for a 53 man squad. I should have been looking at the one for 'cap room' for existing squad members because that is the amount that is used on the negotiation screen. So, my bad.

Thanks for your help! It won't be necessary for me to upload a screenshot as I understand now what is going on. :)

Glad I could not help!

You did help by getting me to scrutinize what the headings actually mean on the columns on the Salary Report page. I often run without 53 persons on the roster, so I now know to just look at the CAP heading rather than looking at the estimated Estimated RM column.

I am the Bengals and lost my third round draft pick in 2026 for a salary cap violation. An online search didn't show that this was a real-life thing, so wondering where I messed up?

I feel like that's been in FOF so long I assumed it to be true. But it sounds like your payroll was larger than the salary cap.

That is correct.

Each player takes up a certain amount of cap room, based on his compensation. The total cap room from your entire roster must fit under the salary cap at all times. Your team will lose draft picks if it exceeds the cap.
