Been looking up some of the stuff I watched/played as a kid lately. The fact that some of this stuff is over 15 years ago is officially touching off "Jesus christ I can't believe it has been that long" territory.
I was just telling StarBuck that Pilotwings was the first game my brother and I got for the SNES. We had really been wanting the system and while my father, my brother and I we were out shopping a day or two before Christmas my dad decided to buy it for us on the spot. That is a great memory. |

This article was published recently:
LONDON (AFP) - Regular swearing at work can help boost team spirit among staff, allowing them to express better their feelings as well as develop social relationships, according to a study by researchers. Yehuda Baruch, a professor of management at the University of East Anglia, and graduate Stuart Jenkins studied the use of profanity in the workplace and assessed its implications for managers. They assessed that swearing would become more common as traditional taboos are broken down, but the key appeared to be knowing when such language was appropriate and when to turn to blind eye. The pair said swearing in front of senior staff or customers should be seriously discouraged or banned, but in other circumstances it helped foster solidarity among employees and express frustration, stress or other feelings. "Employees use swearing on a continuous basis, but not necessarily in a negative, abusive manner," said Baruch, who works in the university's business school in Norwich. Banning swear words and reprimanding staff might represent strong leadership, but could remove key links between staff and impact on morale and motivation, he said. "We hope that this study will serve not only to acknowledge the part that swearing plays in our work and our lives, but also to indicate that leaders sometimes need to 'think differently' and be open to intriguing ideas. "Managers need to understand how their staff feel about swearing. The challenge is to master the 'art' of knowing when to turn a blind eye to communication that does not meet their own standards." The study, "Swearing at work and permissive leadership culture: when anti-social becomes social and incivility is acceptable", is published in the latest issue of the Leadership and Organisational Development Journal. So with that in mind...I offer: |

Sorry if this was an illegal act, I have no idea (is this why it is gone?). I was downloading some videos to use in my classes at school. |

We still sing their tribute song to the 1980 Oscars around the house. My favorite line is, "Raiders, of the Lost Ark, met a Nazi, then his face melted - hey!" |
Found this on Youtube, I posted a thread with this video well over 3 years ago here at FOFC entitled 30 hornets vs. 30,000 bees

Yes, it's old, and I'm sure 99% of you have seen it several times, but gosh darn it, "Tiny House" is still funny.
"I'm just trying to make an omelet!" |
Also, here's a classic that makes me feel a little old. There are probably lots of teenagers out there who wouldn't get the reference if they heard the famous line at the end. Yes, I feel so old. :(

Weird...I added that to my favorites a couple weeks ago, but never thought I'd see it anywhere else due to the awesome Japanese commentary. Watching Barry run never gets old. |

That man was such a joy to watch... just pure awesomeness and like thesloppy says, it never gets old. The guy must have greased his uniform because no one could tackle him. |

Barry's constant end zone celebrations were a little annoying, don't ya' think? :) |
You know, the Lions just beat the shit out of my Broncos, so it's hard for me to say anything nice about Detroit this week, but... watching that video makes me think it's a real shame how the Lions only managed to win one playoff game during Sanders' incredible career. I know people point to a guy like Dan Marino and say that he was cheated because he never won a Super Bowl, but at least the guy got there and also played in a few AFC championship games. Barry Sanders only got as far as the conference championship once, and his team got waxed.
Not to derail a YouTube thread, but if there's one player from the past 20 years I feel for, it's Barry Sanders (not counting guys who lost their careers to injury or whatever). Jeez, that man deserved better than he got. |
What I love about the Barry Sanders series of clips is that it also shows that he didn't dance around in the backfield when there was decent blocking as a lot of people always seem to allude to. The only time you see him doing that was when the blocking collapsed and he made the most of out those plays. The 3rd and 1 clip against Tampa Bay is a prime example as 3 guys basically got into the backfield just as he got the ball. You also see that those wide receivers were often better blockers than the offensive in a lot of the plays as well. Still the best back I have seen play. What he also did against the Chicago Bears in about 2:34 is just ridiculous consdering that he was going against a hell of a defense.
