My favorite review: "DLC simulator 2018"

Anyone played [b]Niche[/B yet?
I am really intrigued by this game. It is a turn based game where you are trying to evolve your creature. It is based on the genetics and how you mate your animals. You try and get the best attributes to be dominant. Havent pulled the trigger. Bt Im close. |
I didn't play them, but always heard good reviews. https://kotaku.com/telltale-employee...1829272139/amp

I worked for a theatre that fired everyone Friday morning. We went from a two income household to a zero income with no insurance and there was no warning that things were that bleak.

Love, love, love the Telltale games. It's a shame. Quote:
That is the worst news of the day. Unreal. Sorry man. |
No, no. Not this Friday. This was a few years ago. I'm still employed as of today!
Thanks, though. |
Anybody playing Deep Sky Derelicts? I was all in until I saw the most recent reviews on Steam are mixed.

Rimworld 1.0, finally out of Early Access and released today.
|
Digital version of the boardgame Terraforming Mars out today too

What axactly does that mean |
From a game perspective, if you've been keeping up to date on the betas and had 19 already, not much. Seems like mostly bugfixes and a small new feature.
It also means it's not Early Access any more and they are charging more for it. |

That is really funny and sad at the same time.

Because when they all do it the only other choice is to stop buying games, and most of us aren't willing to do that. |

The other side of the coin is that a patient consumer can get the end product at a discount after the suckers that bought in early and at a premium have found all the bugs for you. The system works great for me! :)

I like the way some companies like Paradox due DLC -- you still get free improvements to the exe without buying any of them, and you can pick and choose what additions you want. I think they should do more of their development pre-release, but I find it hard to get upset at a company that isn't making DLC central to core gameplay and makes it all optional. I also don't have a problem with Early Access. I don't think 'charging you to test the game' is entirely fair there. No matter how much internal testing you do, the time spent on any semi-popular title is going to blown away by what the customer base gets done in two days after release. By that point it's too late to change a lot of things. Early Access gets them a lot closer to that level of feedback while it can still make more of a difference. I generally don't buy from companies who abuse it, but take games like They are Billions or Factorio for example. Those who do it well end up with a much better product than they'd have delivered otherwhise. Can't stand pay-to-win in any format, but ultimately I do think it really depends on the company and how much work they put it whether these things are really good or bad for the customer. |
These are fun things to meme about, but there are good reasons for DLC and Early Access.
Video games have largely remained steady in price for quite some time with no adjustments due to inflation or because of the larger and more expensive production cycles. Publishers have a choice to either raise the initial cost of the game or jeep the price steady and find other ways to boost revenue. I'm sure a massive amount of market research has told them more games will sell staying at $60 and including DLC, season passes and micro transactions than simply increasing pmthe price to $70 or whatever. Early Access is a big reason why we've seen a revival in indie game quality and depth. And indie developer can take a strong idea and core game, release it as early access, and get direct customer feedback while securing the funding necessary to increase the scope of the game or to simply finish it. |

I’d say that’s true for somewhere to a quarter to a half of the EA devs on Steam. Sadly the rest seem to be more interested in making a quick buck or don’t have the expertise or dedication to actually deliver anything more than a shell of a game. |
free golf game steam key
just go to this discord chat room and ask for one: Discord the dev there wants to get the game into lots of people's hands apparently i got mine it works. |
|
Apparently I picked it up the last time it was free, and I've still never installed it.

I've installed it-will check it out and probably quickly uninstall. But hey its free : |
That was literally my exact thought process when I got married the second time.

XCom2 at 75% off at Green Man Gaming for the next 24 hours. I think that is the lowest ($15) I've ever seen it on sale.

Project Hospital released today, too. Looks like a more tycoon-esque version of Theme Hospital/Two Point Hospital.
|
just bought it
|
Yeah, I picked it up yesterday. Even in its current, just released incarnation, I'm giving it an endorsement.
|
I've been debating whether to get Two Point Hospital or Project Hospital.

Two Point was to casual/easy for me, I would go Project if you want something deeper. |

I think casual is what I'm looking for. :D |
Anyone play either Bard's Tale 4 or Pathfinder Kingmaker? Both are getting mixed reviews - some love it some clearly don't. Both have bugs but lots patches may have helped them since they have been out for a month.
|
Pathfinder had its own thread.i haven't played Bard's Tale.
Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Front Office Football Central |
Kingmaker is a great game, but it feels very arbitrary. You can hit a situation which is impossible to get out of or something that will tank your kingdom without another good option available at any time. Combine that with the bugs that are still around and it can be quite frustrating.
With that being said, I’m enjoying it enough to have just restarted after 30+ hours because my main character build sucked, so take that for what it’s worth. |
Thanks reply and for the link. I purchased it last night and will give it a try later in the week.
What difficulty did you play? Especially on the restart. |
Quote:
I played on whatever the normal difficult is and it's a hell of a challenge at times. I do have a solid understanding of D20 rules so that helped a bit. I feel sorry for anyone with no D20 knowledge trying to play Pathfinder on normal. I'd venture to guess that's where a significant portion of negative reviews come from. |
Quote:
I do think character build and party balance is essential, but I'm no expert and it's more fun to figure that out on your own imo. Once I learn more I probably will go back and restart the game too to maximize effectiveness and try out some double builds. |
Playing on the default difficulty. With knowing what is coming and a better perspective on how to build a party it feels a tiny bit too easy this time through, but haven’t hit the real meat of the story yet where things start to ramp up.

Get a Steam key for free (if you subscribe to their newsletter) for Sins of a Solar Rebellion at Humble Store until Nov 22. Fall Sale going on there now, 75% off Civ 6 jumped out at me.

Thanks for the heads up! |
Steam Fall sale is here. It's basically the preview for the winter sale with no extra side games to play. Some good sales on games on my list. Motorsport Manager DLC's half off. I could see picking up a lot actually, but I think I'll wait for the winter sales for the extra nerd points.

where do I get the free steam key? from the company's website? what is newsletter link |

I may have posted an incorrect date for when this expires as I saw two different ones. Redeem by tomorrow 1 PM EST to be safe. |
i think it's done then. I don't see a banner like that and the page for that game doesn't have anything either.
|
Sorry about that CF-my only suggestion at this point would be to email them and ask about it.
