I guess they dropped an Age of Empires 4 trailer today too.

Is it anybody else excited for the new Flight Simulator? I haven't touched one in years, but I do have some fond memories of FS98. Everything I have seen from this new one looks really damn cool and I may just have to get myself a joystick, open my backlog of podcasts up, and just chill with some Flight Simulator whenever it comes out.

The artwork looks utterly incredible.

That said, I'm worried they spent so much time on the graphics that the flight modeling takes second fiddle, and MS is more than capable of fucking up the add-ons market, which is what makes flight sims (for those who are into more hardcore realism).

And knowing how they manage to stream all that satellite data, god knows how much ram your computer is gonna need to store that shit on the fly.

If you go to COH website and sign into Steam, you get the Stalingrad DLC for free. The below article just says go to Steam which I don't think gets you the DLC.

Company Of Heroes 2, the high point of their World War 2 operations, is free to download this weekend. Likewise, the rest of the wartime franchise has been cut to a quarter of the cost ’til Sunday evening.

Loved the first COH, but I never could get into the second. I really don't know why. I might fire it up this weekend. I bought Close Combat: The Bloody First yesterday, and immediately returned it. I didn't like the feel of it at all. I love the early Close Combat games, but the newer ones feel less and less enjoyable.

Age of Wonders: Planetfall down to $33 at Steam this week.

Very tempting but I have a lot of games on my backlog already, and I'll probably spend a good deal of my time playing classics like Tie Fighter.

I haven't played in 20 years but you might just be able to notice how traumatized I was when commie bastards were popping up out of nowhere in that scenario.

Tbh, I generally get me ASL fix by playing Steel Panthers. An updated Steel Panthers is a Kickstarter I would back at the highest level...

I gotcha, just trying to spread the love. I am part of an ASL group in Southern Ohio/Northern KY. One of the newer players had his first taste of Stalingrad the weekend before last. He was surprised at how little room for maneuver there was.

Edward64 11-20-2019 10:32 PM

I still have ASL and additional books boxed up in the basement somewhere (along with other AH games). Playing it in college with friends was a blast along with Bull Run, Diplomacy, Third Reich etc.

I like to think I will break them out again and do solo-play when I retire but TBH, I'm not sure I've got the energy to re-learn the rules, PC gaming is much more easy and efficient (but lacks the camaraderie).

There's a nice sized game store around here that hosts board gaming and D&D sessions. I'll have to check them out one of these days.

Same. I saw on boardgamegeek a print-and-play simplified version of ASL (Valor and Victory, I think it was). The nostalgia was strong but the laziness was stronger. By the time I finished downloading it, I was firing up Steel Panthers...

Warhammer 11-21-2019 08:56 AM

Last year I told my wife that ASL was going to be my hobby. I have always been a boardgamer, leaned more towards wargames, but its hard to get them to a table in a boardgame group. Found the local ASL club and have not looked back. Get 1-2 games in a month, get some social interactions, and meet some interesting people. Win - win.

I haven't played the Enhanced Edition, however, the base game was both incredibly fun and incredibly frustrating. The first few hours (8-10) are really slow and kind of boring. Once the world opens up and you get into kingdom management it really takes off.

It was also a very difficult game on release. I don't know if it's been rebalanced, but my party wiped quite a bit and there was a ton of bitching on the steam boards about the difficulty.

All in all, it has a Badlur's Gate mixed with Tabletop RPG feel to it.

This, plus the last chapter was by far the most ridiculously hard and arbitrary part of a game I’ve ever played, with no options to change your approach once you’d hit it. I got a ton of time out of the game and I really enjoyed it, but be aware of its foibles I would say. I’d pick it up for the price.

NobodyHere 11-29-2019 10:46 PM

Anyone else besides me ridiculously hyped for Mechwarrior 5?

SirFozzie 11-29-2019 11:07 PM

I am somewhat hyped.. the Epic move and delays make me worried.

Thomkal 12-05-2019 02:27 PM

Jotun is the free game at Epic this week. Its looking like The Escapists may be free next week so one to watch for

MizzouRah 12-07-2019 05:40 PM

Darksiders Genesis has blown me away. Love how they went to more of an isometric view this time around.

Critch 12-08-2019 01:00 PM

I've watched parts of a couple of letsplays for Phoenix Point over the last couple of days. I expected it to look a bit like X-Com, but not to look so much like an expansion/clone of X-Com. Review's arent great either, middling or bad.

Good thing it was an Epic-exclusive though, I'd have probably blundered in without reading reviews if it had been on Steam but now I'm ok waiting a year.

Yeah I was looking forward to this one.. but from reviews, it's going to need some patches. I'll check back on it in a couple of months.

I'm hooked on Deponia. Recommend it for the point and click adventure fans.

Paradox Management Bundle up on Humble is an incredible value if you're interested in Cities: Skylines and Surviving Mars.

Thomkal 12-11-2019 10:29 AM

Europa Universallis 4 is 75% off or $10 on Steam for its midweek deal.

Wasteland 2 is free as their gift to us on GoG.com

Thomkal 12-11-2019 10:42 AM

Winter Sale has started both on GoG and Fanatical so might be some good deals

Thomkal 12-12-2019 09:46 AM

Anno 1800 is free for a week at Epic and the Escapists will be the free game this week.

EDIT: Epic added another free game this week, waiting until after its sequel had been announced at the Game Awards. Telltale's The Wolf Among Us is now free this week. Thought Telltale was dead for a while there, but looks to have found new life. In other Epic news their sale starts on the 19th (I think) and has a free game every day for 12 days. No list available yet

Finished the entire trilogy (Deponia: The Complete Journey). Until midway the third game it was awesome, then got a bit weird (trying to avoid spoilers), but still acceptable through the end. Started Deponia Doomsday shortly after, but this hasn't hooked me in the same way the trilogy did.

Despite the awesomeness (fun puzzles as very few that felt too out of the box, addictive storyline, I like the art, good dose of humor), yet I'm not quite sure I'll go in for another play. It took me about 30 hours in total. Once you know the solution to the puzzles it'll be faster, but I'm not sure yet what the replay value is here.

Transport Fever 2 came out last Wednesday. It is all I have done with my free time.

It is a transport management game. I don't have much experience with this type of game but I love it. The micro management dealing with everything is a lot of fun for a number crunching person like me.

You can start any where in history from 1850 to present. You can go with US, European, or Asian vehicles from history. Lots of ways to customize maps. The campaign is a decent amount of fun as well.

Thomkal 12-16-2019 10:11 AM

Because nothing says Christmas like death and destruction, Postal 2 from 2003 is now free for about the next 48 hours on GoG.com

Thomkal 12-16-2019 10:23 AM

It's called the Steamville Holiday Market. Everyone can get a coupon there for a whole $5 off anything in the sale (I think) You can earn Festivity Tokens by buying games, and completing quests which change every day. You can use your tokens to buy things like stickers, chat emotes, etc. You can vote in the Steam Awards and craft a badge there. Woohoo!

Any thoughts on Disco Elysium, Sekiro, or how buggy Red Dead Redemption 2 really is?
