Have been a long time fan, it's really my #1 board game favorite, I think. (Dominion giving a strong run there) Got the iOS app for $10 a long time ago and got way more than my money's worth from that. Kids might end up in it before long, as stay-at-home tends to advance such things. Hope you enjoy the game, it's so wonderfully conceived I am routinely amazed. A good game against thoughtful players is a deep pleasure. |

Yes its supposed to be playable at the base level, but when I was playing it when it was free for a weekend, the game always crashed on me. For $1, I'm hoping I will have the time to research why it is doing that. |
Far Cry 5 is free to play of UPlay this weekend:
Spend the Weekend In Montana With Far Cry 5 For Free |
Darkest Dungeon is free to play through the weekend on Steam
|
If you like Slay the Spire, I recommend checking out Monster Train on Steam. Similar concept, but a cool twist with the levels.
|
Monster Train is awesome. I already have 75 hours in it. :D

I considered this one but the graphics appear to just not intrigue me at all. Is the entire game in the same styling as the videos? |
Quote:
I haven't played it with the latest DLC's, but yeah I think so. It's supposed to be a run down set of ruins on the edge of the frontier. Very gloomy atmosphere with usually ugly monsters (and sometimes "heroes"). I really like the "light" mechanic in the game. |
Quote:
Yes sir, between this and StS, I'm loving the style!!! |
Anybody playing Mutant League football?
If so, is it good? Can I use a mouse or do I need a controller? |
Quote:
Yes. The style is very unique. Personally, I really love it. I think it's a great game and the style adds to the atmosphere and feel of it quite well. |
When do games drop on Steam?
C and C is coming tomorrow and I need to know if I should take a nap to be up at midnight to DL it. |
Quote:
Release is determined by the publisher. Unless it's a major release, most unlock around 9am pacific. Right now it looks like that's the time for Cand C as well. |
Quote:
Thanks |
I am seriously thinking of sneaking out of work early in order to play C&C.

Total Annihilation: Commander's Pack is free to claim at GoG.com over the weekend. Contains the base game and 2 DLC's
|
I feel like it is 1999. I have Been DLing C and C for an hour and a half and am not even half way done.

Yowza, see you next year then :) |

How big is the file? |
18.1 GB. I have shitty internet or a crappy router though.

You are performing a great service. |

Thanks :) I'm just glad to share my love of games with everyone here. Even games I have no interest in like this one. |
C and C is not bad. I spent the last 3 hours playing. I like skirmish mode and they have a lot of custom maps from the old days.
Pretty fun. My favorite RTS for sure. Well worth the $20 |

Yeah, I've just started playing it and I love the reference to the old installation screens. |
I'm sure it is a coincidence, but last night I put EU4 on my wish list and this morning I got an e-mail that is is on sales and only $8. I realize there are lots of DLC, but is the base game worth trying out if I tend to enjoy Civilization games?
|
You should go and read one of Abe's dynasties playing EU4. You'll get a good feel for how it goes and enjoy is all the same.
EU4 - K'iche, (Now Maya) the New Hegemon - Front Office Football Central EU4 Dynasty - The Rajahnate of Butuan - COMPLETE!!! - Front Office Football Central EU4 - Kongo Awaits - COMPLETED! - Front Office Football Central Abe's New EU4 Dynasty of Mysore...um...Bharat is Now Complete!!! - Front Office Football Central |
I might have a key for the original game and an expansion or two lying around.
|
You got the sale notification because they typically put it on sale around when a new dlc comes out (like today a new one did).
I second the recommendation on reading Abe’s play through. Even with a heavy Civ background for me, I could never get into eu2 and it took me weeks to get used to eu3. Eu4 is even more intimidating for a new player, there is so much you can do In it. Seeing someone else’s experience helps give you a guide to run off of. Also there are a bunch of dlc for it, many of which are super wonderful and many of others are pretty bad or have since been obsoleted with later changes. With every dlc, paradox also implements a large number of free changes too so it has had a ton of attention paid to it over the years even if you have no dlc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
A game I've had on my waiting list just got released today: Deck of Ashes
Deck of Ashes on Steam It looks like a combo of Darkest Dungeon and Slay the Spire. Has anyone checked it out yet? |
Quote:
I don't have it, but that was my first thought when I heard about it. Could be worth checking it out. |

After I posted I realized the new DLC came out. Just seemed funny this morning when I woke up to the its on sale. They have a bundle with Rights of Man, Art of War and Common sense included for just $32. Those 3 are at the top of the essential DLC from Strategy Gamer, so that feels like a good option to get the best experience. |
Quote:
I've wish listed it. I love Darkest Dungeon, Slay the Spire, Iratus Lord of the Dead, Monster Train, Ancient Enemy, etc... so I'm sure I'll get this one soon. :) |
I have had deck of ashes in my wishlist for several months now, waiting for it to come out. I didn’t expect a game like monster train to precede it through which currently is scratching my deck builder itch (like slay the spire).
With my very tiny amount of time to play games these days, I likely will hold off on this one a bit while still loving monster train and having several other games in the rotation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
It's only on Epic, not Steam yet, but one of the better CIV designers put one out that's kind of a combination of CIV & CK, set in the ancient/classical Mediterranean world - Old World review (early access) | Rock Paper Shotgun
I've got a few hours in the past couple nights - there's definitely some mechanics that could be better explained, and maybe I'll just have to fiddle with pop-up notifications because it seems like having my wife and heir both die in the same "year"(/turn) seems like it should have been a more important notification than a farm being finished - but I really like some of the mechanic changes like allowing and letting you choose which specific units use 3-4 turns in one "year", the event/personality system adds more flavor than CIV midgame, and the tightness of the timeline means that you don't end up focusing on tech development and getting OP when you make a technological leap like happens frequently in CIV. |

Yeah I talked about this in one of the threads here a few weeks ago, a few of my YouTube "Regulars", like Quill18, the Yogscast, etc were beginning to play it. I liked a lot of the features that made it a bit different than Civ, especially the fact that your leader would die at some point, and your heir would take your place creating a dynasty. I would certainly be interested in trying it one day (maybe using my $10 off coupon if it goes on sale sometime soon) |

I'd definitely recommend watching Vormithrax (best known for his CDDA plays) play this one, especially his Noble Difficulty run (which was his 2nd or 3rd effort I believe). I feel like I understand what's going on better in this game than perhaps any that I've never played & only watched. That series in particular he does a great - if methodical - job of explaining what he's doing & thinking, and freely admits when he hasn't figured out something, so you kinda learn from observing while he's learning from playing. |
The one concern I've read about Old World in Early Access are potential memory leaks. Since I'd been using my laptop, I'd like to see that cleared up a bit before investing in it.

I was wondering if anyone played this game. I got it a couple of weeks ago on sale and really enjoyed it. There were a few quirks and things that could have been done better (a proof-reader would have been nice), but I liked the dual open-ended/storyline gameplay that let me do what I wanted and finish the main quest at my own pace. It's definitely more of an RPG than anything action. Again, a few weird hoops to jump through (like having to cycle through certain types of crew members to unlock being able to upgrade parts of the boat), but overall, I had fun with it. |
Quote:
I got an update today but unlike Steam I'm never sure of the patch notes on Epic. :D |
Quote:
Need more info on Old World before I drop $40 What say you? |
Quote:
Haven't played it, just reading about it on reddit. |

That actually got mentioned briefly in the (now 2 week? old*) episode of the Vormithrax playthrough I mentioned earlier. He said something about that being a reported issue and was noticing enough occasional stutter that he made a save just in case. I've only seen the game legit crash once in about 12h of that playthrough tho and it didn't appear to be a leak type crash. *I usually stay intentionally behind when watching YT eps made from longer live streams, so that I have something to watch when I want something to watch |
Might be a good time to checkout Gloomhaven as it looks like they are really gearing up with more content. Coming on June 25, a new Guildmaster mode will be introduced which will allow you to team up whatever mercs you want, and they introduce multiplayer co-op. The video also talks about future plans for later this year:
Steam :: Gloomhaven :: Events |
Pathmaker: Kingmaker coming to PS4 and X-BoxOne on Aug 18 with a new turn-based mode, and the PC Version gets the turn-based mode on Aug 18th too,
|
Free game at Humble Bundle-Snake Pass-a puzzle/platformer
|
Free game at GoG.com-Hitman:Absolution through the weekend

Ooh! I may jump back into the game with a turn-based mode. There was a lot I enjoyed about the game, but the convoy eventually turned me off of it. |
