First thing they start coding, next thing you know they start thinking they are a male's equal... Slippery slope!

Women will end up taking all our IT jobs because why wouldn't they want to work in one of the most male dominated fields where they're looked down upon and sexually harassed constantly?

And I say this as someone that works in IT. I truly feel sorry for women trying to get into anything IT related.

Pennsylvania school district bans Girls Who Code book series | Pennsylvania | The Guardian

"In a statement explaining the ban of the diverse resources, the school district’s board president at the time, Jane Johnson, said: “What we are attempting to do is balance legitimate academic freedom with what could be literature/materials that are too activist in nature, and may lean more toward indoctrination rather than age-appropriate academic content.”

Encouraging girls to code is too activist.

I'm sure this doesn't count as cancel culture for "reasons".

albionmoonlight 09-26-2022 01:55 PM

I'm woke. By which I mean I am not in favor of banning Girls Who Code books.

Some conflicting reports about the book ban. It would be great if it turned out to not be true.

Sounds like it was just an old news story. They did ban the book but due to public outrage, the head of the school board was removed and the bans were rescinded. This apparently happened last fall.

cuervo72 09-26-2022 05:15 PM

Ah, sorry. I saw tweets bubble up from both the author and Guardian.

RainMaker 09-26-2022 05:26 PM

It's not your fault, The Guardian portrayed it as a new story it seems. The book was banned but it's been reversed. Still pretty insane to ban that book.

RainMaker 09-26-2022 06:02 PM

It's about reducing abortions, which is why they are banning the thing that reduces abortions.

You could argue they even went light on that one. His actions seem awfully close to attempted murder and he did rob the officer that he assaulted too (which they either didn't charge or dropped when he pleaded).

I agree, just glad we aren't seeing this 90 day sentence bullshit as much.

I think you underestimate the stupidity of the American public. I would not at all be surprised to see him win again if he runs.

Alright boys, Marjorie Taylor Greene is about to be single. I know everyone wants a shot, but let's be civil and try one at a time.

The rumor looks like it was true. Mr. Tough Guy Trump made them move the USS John McCain b/c he didn't want to look at it.

DeSantis, Abbott, etc. can try. But there will only ever be one Trump. You can't fake being this mentally damaged. It has to be natural.

In this respect I would argue socialism is everyone gets a shot. Capitalism would be a group free for all.

What would seem the most likely is that when it the wider banlist went out, the books perhaps erroneously ended up on there. So, still banned temporarily, but maybe not intentionally so.

So sick of the bullshit. So sick. If he gets off by court or delay or new president or congress, after all the bs over the Supreme Court over McConnell and the 2 stolen appointments, I think I might slide further to the left and genuinely fear for the future country that my kids and grandkids will have.

Atocep 10-03-2022 04:33 PM

Not much in there I don't agree with. I do think Trump gets indicted for the documents and that case is pretty cut and dry once you're away from Judge Cannon. There's zero chance he ever spends a day in prison though.

I also think once the DOJ drops the indictment on the documents case you're going to see the case in Georgia pick up speed. IMO everyone is hoping someone else is the first to drop an indictment on Trump. Once that happens the flood gates open, so to speak.

Has Christian Walker's Twitter account been hacked?

Because if not, Herschel Walker is definitely the winner.

However, according to 538, Warnock is only leading the race by 2.1 percentage points.

Thomkal 10-03-2022 08:45 PM

Trump sues CNN for over 450 million for defamation-comparing him to Hitler, being a Russian asset, an insurrectionist, etc. Almost hope he wins so everybody can then sue him for the nasty things he said about them

Add that to the fact that it was reported today that Herschel paid for his girlfriend's abortion and this is looking like a landslide.

Oh and then there's the John Lewis stuff.

Atocep 10-03-2022 08:54 PM

At the debate with Warnock I just want someone to ask Herschel to explain the difference between Senate and House.

It really would be incredible to watch him answer 6th grade civics questions. What is the filibuster? Who breaks a tie in the Senate? etc...

I don't think this hurts him as bad as people think. These folks don't care if their own people beat their wives and pay for abortions, they just don't want you to be able to do it.

RainMaker 10-03-2022 11:15 PM

It also shows that it was never about saving lives or whatever. The abortion issue was always about control over people.

flere-imsaho 10-04-2022 07:09 AM

Yeah, again, the GOP have absolutely no problem voting for politicians who don't live the GOP's professed values (e.g. have abortions, get divorced, adultery, etc...), as long as it's clear that the people they vote in will vote the correct way on legislation.

The ends justify the means, unlike with Democrats, where if the means are ethically compromised, the ends are tainted.

flere-imsaho 10-04-2022 07:10 AM

At this point Conway is the boy who cried wolf. This is wishful thinking, no more. When indictments, and more importantly convictions, actually land, then I'll start to believe that Trump is going to face a reckoning.

PilotMan 10-04-2022 07:15 AM

Agreed. I get that the process is the process, but if the game is played out and suddenly it's December of 2024, convicted or not, one of the R planks will be, "I will pardon trump! " Guaranteed.

Yeah. I always laugh at the twitter people who get all excited every time news breaks, which is daily, that this is what is going to get him. When he is found guilty in a criminal courtroom is when I'll believe it.

I guess I have to give Conway a little credit for breaking from the party, but he is still married to that ghoul, not sure how he can pull that off. I do always find it amazing when people claim they thought Trump would change after being elected. That means they knew he was a deeply flawed human and still voted for him, hoping that massive amounts of power and influence would somehow improve that character. That makes him almost as bad.

Not really. If you're a pro-life person you're going to vote for the person that wants to make abortion illegal. Period. Even if you have to hold your nose while voting.

A little repentance and a little grace and all's good!

(Or no repentance, and...you know what? As long as it didn't happen last week it's water under the bridge.)
