Had 1.13 in my steam wallet from random card sales. Said I was gonna wait.

Caved.

sabotai 10-25-2022 07:10 PM

I didn't have a refund.

....well I didn't cave, either, because I preordered it.

Played the Sweden tutorial for 3 or 4 hours so far today. After I eat, I'm going to dive in for some more. It's early but I really like it so far.

JonInMiddleGA 10-25-2022 07:48 PM

I was tempted ... and then I read the reviews (that were longer than two sentences)on Steam. Worse than I expected which relieved my temptation TFN.

The bugs in By Blood Alone are more than enough for me to deal with for a while, I shouldn't even have been tempted. (though the bugs seem minor compared to the bewildering design choices)

Did anyone ever play Thimbleweed Park?

Yes, it's excellent. If you are a fan of Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island, etc. then you will undoubtedly enjoy it.

CrimsonFox 10-29-2022 03:49 AM

Holy Fuck boyzzzz I'm playing the closed beta of THE OUTLAST TRIALS!
YEEEEEEEHAW~!

GrantDawg 10-29-2022 01:24 PM

I finally got a chance to play Vicky3 this morning. Enjoy it. Still a little overwhelmed with all that is going on, but it is interesting. I like the focus on economics/ I do think diplomacy needs more fleshing out. If you are not going to focus on micro-managing the military, then you really need more diplomatic options.

Thomkal 11-01-2022 07:07 PM

Gog.com has the game Jazz Jackrabbit 2 free to claim for the next day or so

Here's a new take on a city builder/RPG entering early access on Steam:

The First Men

Inspired by mankind's creation myths, you start with a couple and create a family and town, explore the world, etc. Not sure its my cup of tea, but certainly worth checking out I think:

TFM: The First Men on Steam

Dwarf Fortress, a Roguelike that I have been interested in for several years, but always found too complex, finally arrives on Steam on Dec 6:

I've been a fan of Space Rangers 2 Space Rangers HD: A War Apart on Steam. Pretty old game. Not much talk of a Space Rangers 3. It's a Russian developer and although still supported, the goodies are mainly in Russian.

I just read about StarCom Starcom: Unknown Space on Steam and it looks similar. Starts early access on Dec 14. Will have to check it out.

Thomkal 11-03-2022 09:17 AM

Thanks Edward, had not heard of that one-put it on my wishlist :)

It lost me at real-time pausable combat. No thanks. It's also probably a little *too* micro-management heavy, judging from the reviews.

It's that time of year again-the Yogscast Jingle Jam! This year for donating to one of the charities they are working with this year, you can get over 85 games in return! Site should be active later today:

Tiltify - Livestream Fundraising

MIJB#19 12-03-2022 06:22 AM

I picked up Justin Wack and the Big Time Hack during the fall sale.
I'm a little bit so-so on it so far. It does have the point-and-click adventure vibe that the classics offered and it wants to give, some silly humor, neat easter eggs that reference some of the classics in the genre.

Thomkal 12-06-2022 09:39 AM

Dwarf Fortress now available on Steam, but not currently on sale.

Satisfactory is 40% off

Looks like a good chance to win a Steam Deck on Thursday. Watch the Game Awards on Steam where Valve will give away one every minute. Need to enter using the link in the article to be registered for the contest:

I highly recommend the steam deck for those interested and know they'd use it. It is an impressive piece of hardware and blows the switch away in features and just about every other conceivable way.

A friend of mine bought one after my recommendation and it's so popular in his house his wife has taken it over. It was great to have on our trips to Portland and Disney last month.

Did I already miss my window for winning a free Steam deck? I'm obviously an oldtimer who is challenged by any tech more complicated than an electric shaver but I'm not sure if I had to be online yesterday or "the event" continues through to the 12th like Steam is telling me. I guess I'll just wait for a telegram telling me to come on down to the Sears and Roebuck office and pick up my Steam deck...

GrantDawg 12-09-2022 11:01 AM

I think I broke a hip just reading that last sentence, Bobbie

Elden Ring is just over $37 at Fanatical for the Standard Edition. Probably the best price I've seen on it for Xmas

PilotMan 12-22-2022 09:31 PM

Feels like money will be spent by me on the sale this year, but I don't see anything special this year with the sale. For the first time in years, it doesn't look like there's anything to actually do, other than just buy games. Oh well. We had the good old days once, a long, long time ago. They were fun.

CrimsonFox 12-22-2022 11:44 PM

i got Bendy and the Dark REvival and It Takes Two and A Way Out
going to get Disney's Dreamlight Valley
but i'm not certain if i should get the regular version or the deluxe or ultimate...decisions decisions
