Why punt, Mizzou?

School of KF?

JonInMiddleGA 10-01-2022 10:03 PM

Break up the Yellow Jackets.

Brian Swartz 10-01-2022 10:11 PM

I'll file that under 'quotes I thought I'd never see from the person who wrote them'.

Feelgood moment after the game for a very emotional GT alum Brent Key, glad he got to experience that if nothing else.

Donald Brent Key is an American college football coach and former player. Key is currently the interim head coach, run game coordinator, and offensive line at his alma mater, Georgia Tech. He is also the only undefeated head coach in the program's history. Wikipedia

Not true.

Mac McWhorter was 1-0 (interim for the bowl upset of Stanford in 2001, as mentioned during the broadcast tonight)

Edward64 10-01-2022 11:30 PM

Welp, my butt hurts after the visit to the woodshed.

Hogs will drop out of the Top-25 next week. I know they have the talent to end back in the Top-25 by end of season. Just not sure their head is on right with 3 bad games in a row. In prior years, there would be a helpless spiral down. Hoping that's not the case this year.

larrymcg421 10-02-2022 06:08 PM

Kansas feels like a TCY dynasty.

2020 - Your first year and you don 't even bother setting lineups or playcalling (aside from shirting the 1-2 useful guys). Focus entirely on recruiting.

2021 - You only have one class of guys in and give the shirt to some of them, but there's some smidgen of talent now. You start gameplanning, almost pull off a major upset and win an exciting OT game late in the year.

2022 - This is when the team starts to perform. Your redshirt guys are now ready, with a year of training. You get off to a great start, but will probably come back to earth in conference play.

If this pattern holds, then Kansas should be ready to win a Natty in 2025 or 2026.

Chryst out at Wisconsin

Wow. I know they want Leonard to take over, but that is cold.

Iowa hangs onto BF

I wasn't surprised by Dorrell getting the axe earlier, saw that coming. I'll admit to being surprised on this one, I was figuring end of the season for Chryst.

bob 10-02-2022 06:54 PM

Barry Alvarez too busy to be interim coach?

Carry you don’t become Nebraska, Wisconsin.

cartman 10-02-2022 07:46 PM

What kind of odds could you have gotten preseason that Texas-Oklahoma would be a match up of two unranked teams, while TCU-Kansas would be a ranked matchup of undefeated teams?

Brian Swartz 10-02-2022 08:40 PM

Others beat me to it, but on Chryst: he's one of the coaches in the BIG that I respected, they had one of those runs for a few years where it looked like they might be about to turn the corner and become the top challenger to Ohio State. But obviously what's happening these days is not good for the program.

tarcone 10-02-2022 08:44 PM

I hope the firing of Chryst puts pressure on KF

HAHA no it wont

Same. Maybe there are some behind the scenes things we don't know about, but he's been incredibly successful for Wisconsin. Makes a bowl every year, including 2 BCS bowls in 7 years. Was one game away from being in the playoffs in 2017.

I get this would have bee another ho-hum year for them and firing him after season. But I wonder what are realistic expectations at Wisconsin. Seems like being in the 2nd tier of the Big 10, making a bowl every year, and flirting with some big ones every so often is a realistic ceiling for Wisconsin.

Again, maybe there is more to it. But I feel like schools like Wisconsin are much more likely to fall like Nebraska did than jump to that Ohio State level they seem to think they can reach.

Solecismic 10-02-2022 10:24 PM

Chryst had six bowl wins and a one-point Rose Bowl loss in seven seasons, and a 67-26 overall record. This surprises me. Unless Leonhard is more than an interim, it'll make recruiting difficult.

If they know Leonhard is the guy and they did this because they thought he'd go to Nebraska or someplace else if they didn't act, then they should have made it official for continuity's sake, because the new transfer windows mean you've got to move earlier and uncertainty affects your current commits.

But I look at the job Chryst has done and wonder why they would get rid of a long-time Wisconsin guy (played there, coached there for many years before becoming head coach) over the worst one-month stretch of his career.

I LOLed

Lathum 10-07-2022 10:12 PM

This Houston-Memphis game. Wow.

This is what Memphis gets for playing it safe on their last drive.

cuervo72 10-08-2022 12:32 PM

Purdue just Purdued again.

larrymcg421 10-08-2022 12:40 PM

Wow Brian Kelly. What a stupid decision.

At a lacrosse tournament / what did he do?

4th and 10, with like 30 seconds left. Ball around midfield. He goes for it, QB gets sacked. Tenn is able to get in FG range to extend the lead.

JonInMiddleGA 10-08-2022 01:42 PM

How dominant has Tennessee been at LSU?

You can hear the "Bruuuuuu" (for McCoy) crowd noise on every catch he makes.

LSU fans were noticeably absent after halftime

bob 10-08-2022 01:50 PM

How the hell did Oklahoma fall apart so fast

larrymcg421 10-08-2022 02:08 PM

What a TD in the Kansas-TCU game!

bhlloy 10-08-2022 02:10 PM

Hope Venables got himself a nice buyout number. Holy hell that is a disaster zone right now.

cartman 10-08-2022 02:14 PM

I am pleased with the 49-0 score from the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

larrymcg421 10-08-2022 02:21 PM

Pooch kicks late in games are one of the most commonly stupid things college coaches do.

Edward64 10-08-2022 02:31 PM

Hogs are sucking, we are cratering after a promising start. 4 bad games in a row.

JonInMiddleGA 10-08-2022 03:24 PM

Pretend f'n coach from a pretend f'n conference, and STILL Harsin manages to be a bigger clown than I thought possible.

Holy Hell, if they don't fire him by halftime somebody may have to shoot the clueless p.o.s.

larrymcg421 10-08-2022 03:47 PM

Good news for recruiting? If you want to start as a true Freshman at DB, then Miami is probably one of the best places to go.

Sheesh, what did he do?

larrymcg421 10-08-2022 04:01 PM

So painful to watch this Miami team.

A fake punt by run that gave Ugag -- who has struggled to move the ball -- short field and an easy early TD

bob 10-08-2022 04:14 PM

How the hell does Bally Sports South not have a first down line in 2022?

Brian Swartz 10-08-2022 04:15 PM

Just gonna say here that it's only football. Shooting the coach might be just a tad excessive.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

The AD that hired the fucking guy would be acceptable collateral damage at this point ... and I don't even particularly give a shit about Auburn.

Can't afford one ;)

larrymcg421 10-08-2022 04:33 PM

At least Van Dyke seems back to normal.

JonInMiddleGA 10-08-2022 04:51 PM

Crazy stat: teams that beat Nebraska this season are now 1-11 since those wins
(assuming Northwestern doesn't do something crazy)

GrantDawg 10-08-2022 04:53 PM

Georgia playing more like classic UGA. Defense a the run the ball.

Not like they can throw it now that Cinderella has lost her slipper.

Almost everything anyone needs to know about this game's first half is that Ashford -- who looks more like a HS freshman than a college freshman -- was the game's leading passer AND leading rusher.

Hated to be on the wrong side of that game but it was fun

SI

JPhillips 10-08-2022 06:06 PM

lol at the student in the OSU/Mich St. game screaming,

Fuck you, Kyle!

Kyle, you dummy.

You should have stayed in Pennsylvania, Kyle!

Atocep 10-08-2022 06:15 PM

Emeka is having a huge year. Good to see. I briefly coached him in coach pitch and again in 10u baseball.

He played at a really small school here with less than 1k students. Great kid that I've never heard a bad thing about.

larrymcg421 10-08-2022 06:29 PM

Ugh, almost a miracle for the Canes on the onside kick, but the player stepped out of bounds and didn't re-establish before touching the ball.

JPhillips 10-08-2022 06:46 PM

Saban's gonna beat the hell out of A&M. He might be throwing bombs with 2 minutes left and leading by 40.

bob 10-08-2022 08:04 PM

Oklahoma State player geniusly uses fair catch to exploit rule book and ruin a Texas Tech onside kick

bob 10-08-2022 08:12 PM

Also, Bama / Texas A&M is interesting so far
