Sid Meier's Civilization® V Shipping with Steamworks - Pre-Purchase Now! - Plus Save 75% on all existing Civilization titles on Steam

2K Games and Valve today announced an agreement to power all PC versions of the highly anticipated Sid Meier's Civilization V with many of Steamworks' features and offer a special Digital Deluxe Edition via Steam. Customers who pre-order the regular or Digital Deluxe editions of Sid Meier's Civilization V on Steam will be rewarded with a free map pack when the game launches in fall 2010.

Sid Meier's Civilization V players will enjoy the benefits of the Steamworks' features included in all PC versions, such as auto-updating, Steam Achievements, downloadable content, ability to access from any computer*, multiplayer matchmatching and more.

Sid Meier's Civilization V Digital Deluxe Edition will expand players' conquests with the new Babylonian civilization and their ruler, Nebuchadnezzar II (c. 630 - c. 561 B.C.). As King of Babylon, gamers will be able to expand their empire with advanced Babylonian Bowmen to rightfully earn the title of Nebuchadnezzar the Great. Sid Meier's Civilization V Digital Deluxe Edition will also include an in-depth "Behind the Scenes at Firaxis with Civilization V" video feature, as well as the game's epic soundtrack.

Gamers who pre-order any version of Sid Meier's Civilization V from Steam will receive the downloadable bonus content, Cradle of Civilization Map Pack: Mesopotamia for free when the game is available. The map pack will let players experience the traditional Western and Middle Eastern "Cradle of Civilization." The pack will include the Fertile Crescent with the Nile River valley to the west and extending east down the Tigris and Euphrates river valleys to the Persian Gulf. Leaders will be able to explore new terrain, cultures and conquests.

For those who can't wait for the immersive experience of Sid Meier's Civilization V, 2K Games is proud to offer a Steam-wide 75% off sale on all previous Civilization titles for a limited time beginning May 6, 2010.

Grazie, I've been waiting for this one.

Don't know how many are into games like Forza 2or 3 but I just picked up the MS wireless racing wheel for $49.99 at Best Buy. They seem to be disappearing from webstores as BB doesn't even show them online and Walmart is out of stock. Guessing this is a "if they have" and "while supply lasts" deal.

Must be discontinuing them and coming out with a new model or leaving wheels to third party developers?

I don't know and don't care, for $50 I just added a whole lot more fun to playing Forza3:) (which I got through Goozex, basically for free, by trading a few old games;) ).

Do you think Civ IV would be difficult to play using a touchpad on a laptop? Is it something that absolutely needs a mouse due to the amount of management involved?

I think it would be possible since it's not real time and there isn't frantic clicking involved.

Last time I saw 'em at work, they were still $99. I haven't seen 'em recently, so maybe they did a clearance-and-poof while I was in California. Would be a bummer; I'd have picked one up for that price. Alas.

I agree, and even if you're not a racing fan, you most likely drive a car, and this can make a racing game extremely fun!

Is this XB360 and PC compatible or just one or the other?

May have to look at it for that price if any are left around?

I thought just for the 360. However on the bottom of the box it says...

Quote:

Exclusively for use with the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system and a PC via a wireless games receiver for windows (sold separately).

You'll either have to look around or call your local Best Buy as it no longer shows up online so the "in stock store locate" feature isn't available.

It is so worth $50, I am having a blast with Forza 3. Was slightly concerned as some user reviews were critical, to a ranting level, about how the wheel handled. Must have been some 12 year olds whiners without a clue because
it does a great job. I don't even have it table mounted(playing with it on my lap) and it still is a dream to use. No slipping off at all and the pedals are very responsive with a nice resistance to them.

DataKing 05-10-2010 09:53 AM

For those with the Xbox360 wireless wheel, some people (including myself) found the pedal settings to be a little off, especially if you turn off ABS and Traction Control. Consider setting your deadzone insides to zero and the deadzone outsides to full.

Glad to hear you're enjoying Forza Sweed. I've gotten away from my dynasty report the past few weeks, but I'll probably be getting back into it here shortly with the new Exotics car pack being released tomorrow.

I went a little Steam-crazy this past weekend. Tropico 3, Torchlight, Portal (free), the Indie pack, Freedom Force +the sequel/add-on.

Don't know when I'm even going to get the time to play them with FBCB & FM10 taking all my time these days.

JPhillips 05-16-2010 09:07 PM

What was that, 40 bucks total? Pretty good value for that amount of cash.

At least, B2G1 is what the website says. I'm reading that the coupon may be working as B1G1, but that makes me wonder if GS would just cancel those orders.

Trying to decide which Mario Galaxy deal to do:
Wal-Mart $20 online gift card
Gamestop $20 future purchase
Amazon $20 future purchase
Best Buy - some crappy number of RZ points (500, I think, so $10)

Now if it were a regular Wal Mart gift card, the choice is easy. But how often do you buy something from their online store? And the other two are video game only. Amazon works better since I get more deals from them but Gamestop does have their moments, particularly on their B2G1 sales.

I went for Amazon, particularly since they frequently do the pre-order bonuses, which makes for the ability to chain from one to the next. Use the $20 from Mario on a preorder of a game with a $20 bonus, and use that bonus on a preorder of a game with a bonus, etc.

That's why I ended up doing, too, and for just that reason. If it's still going next week, I'll pick up NSMB Wii for $35 + $10 bonus with the $20 code when I get it, so that'll be $15 with a $10 bonus. But I bet it will have expired by then since they only did it to price match EB/GS.

Oh, Gamespot just gave Galaxy 2 a 10 as well. Their list of 10s is as follows: MGS4, GTA4, Chrono Cross, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, Soul Calibur, and Ocarina of Time.

I don't know if it's 10-worthy to me yet, but it feels like a very solid 9 at worst.

I got SMG2 in the mail today. I can't break it out until my son finishes 1, per conditions set out by me (because its technically his) and enforced by the wife. He's almost there, I need to spur him on. He's 7, so the attention span is sometimes lacking.
