Lot of buzz about Lebron and New York. Probably nothing, but who knows. Would be a huge signing for the Knicks and Lakers.

Mr. Sparkle 07-05-2010 03:10 AM

If LeBron goes to the Knicks, he deserves to never win a ring.

Don't worry, Amar'e would be joining him too, so there's no way he'd get a ring anyhow. :)

He also had an injury that slowed him, shoudln´t have been on the court for half the games that he did play (due to the warriors catastrophic injury situation he was deemed fit enough, gotta have 5 on the court ...)

His FTS are disastrous though ... Other than that he should really be a camby-type player with 10 points, 10+ boards and 2 blocks a game with decent man-defense and a whole lot of versatility on that end.

Fisher is a very good defender against the non-ultra quick PGs. The guys that can get by him will eat him alive, but against guys that even only have a step on him he is very good.

LOL - Daniel Orton Apparently got thrown out of his first summer league game today for fighting. 2-3 years might of been over board, 1 year might be more like it.

fpres 07-05-2010 06:54 PM

This is a different time and there may be different circumstances, but I can't help but think of the 2000 free agency period when looking at the Knicks, Bulls, and Heat trying to land more than one of the "Big Three" this year. Orlando landed T-Mac and Grant Hill that summer but swung and missed when it came to Tim Duncan.

I can't help but wonder if we'll all be looking back on the "winner" of this FA period a decade from now and trying to figure out where things went wrong.

Big Fo 07-05-2010 07:03 PM

Stoudemire will be a Knick next season. 5 years, $100m.

At least NY will get something even if LeBron goes elsewhere. Though it's a lot of cash for a guy with apparent knee and effort issues.

Calipari has already stated that this is the bet moment in the history of the UK basketball program.

Groundhog 07-05-2010 07:15 PM

Imagine all the trash that is going to get thrown at Orton from undrafted FA and 2nd rounders who feel they did a lot more than Orton to be worthy of a 1st rounder.

And he was putrid when he played...

Groundhog 07-05-2010 07:50 PM

Harangody with 23 points on 9-13 shooting (4-6 from 3pt) for the Celtics today. Only one game against lousy competition, but he was always my pick for "2nd rounder most likely to suit up in the 2010-11 season". I think he's one of those guys who is skilled enough to make up for his physical shortcomings.

Wish I'd caught the Orlando game, because Jeff Adrien had a nice game. I liked his game at UConn and if he was an inch or two taller he'd be a very solid NBA player.

Gordon Hayward had a quiet game for Utah with 8 points on 2-2 shooting in 25 minutes of play. 5 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals and a block though, so pretty well rounded.

Groundhog 07-06-2010 12:39 AM

Favors and Evan Turner also played today. Favors shot it poorly (2-8) but had 9 boards and 2 blocks. Damion James had 11 points 5 boards for the Nets also.

Turner looked like he was still at Ohio State, and finished with 12 points 8 rebounds and 4 assists, though shot it just 2-5 but got to the line.

Both 2nd year guys Terrence Williams and Jrue Holiday played really well, while Marreese Speights was terrible, shooting 1-11. Speights has had some impressive regular season boxscores for the Sixers over the past couple of seasons, but every time I watch him play he stinks.

whomario 07-06-2010 03:34 AM

For OKC Byron Mullens looked pretty damn good, posting 24/7 in the end.

I can´t believe the Nets have Cezary Trybanski on their summer league team, who´s biography will once read "the 40 year old project" (he´s 31 by now and still doing the d-league/summer league thing as a Euro ...)

Agree that Harangody looked really good, his skill set will make him a good role player for 15-25 minutes ultimately i think (maybe not this year but down the road)

RainMaker 07-06-2010 04:13 AM

I liked the Harangody pick. He's someone who can give you 10 minutes a night off the bench and not hurt you. I know everyone looks for stars, but sometimes these guys are valuable considering they don't make much at all.

Groundhog 07-06-2010 07:20 PM

Duhon to the Magic, $15mil/4. Good value.

stevew 07-06-2010 08:26 PM

you know what.....motherfuck Chrissy Bosh. Whenever he does sign that 6 year deal he will be the most overpaid player in the league. Plus he looks like a Predator.

He's simply a top 10 player and has been for 5 years now. Whoever gets him will have a 26 year old 4 who is going to win them a lot of games if they give him any support at all.

I think that was the anger speaking since he reportedly blocked a deal that would have sent him to Cleveland.

stevew 07-06-2010 08:50 PM

Basketball stats have a long way to go if Bosh is considered a top 10 player.

I can think of maybe 8-9 players that are clearly better than Bosh and a couple of those are probably a stretch. If you don't think he's a top 10 player I'd like to see 10 than are clearly better.

Agreed. Apparently stats can even be used to show that Drew Gooden is a good player.

Bosh is a great scorer. That's it. And as good a scorer as he is, he still settles for far too many jumpers.

It's not hard for me to pick 10 guys I'd rather have than him.

Not patronizing, but can you post your list?

A great scorer who also averages 10 rebounds a game sounds pretty darn good to me.

He's a pretty damn good defensive rebounder and has rated as an average defender the past 2 seasons.

I'll take a guy that's 6'11", can score rather effeciently, rebound, and doesn't get abused on the defensive end any day. He's not going to carry anyone to a title, but there aren't 10 players in the NBA that can.

Danny 07-06-2010 09:19 PM

I mean, there are some obvious choices that stand out.

1. Bryant
2. James
3. Wade
4. Durant

Are the ones I think are obvious choices, then you have some that appear to be in the same tier as Bosh who are still in the younger range.

5. Howard
6. Paul
7. Anthony

I can't see taking too many others over Bosh. Guys like Duncan and Nowitzki are likely better players now, but are the downside of their careers.

Scoobz0202 07-06-2010 09:20 PM

Rondo?

Danny 07-06-2010 09:21 PM

And on that list, only Bryant, James and Wade are really players that you could argue are capable of leading their teams to titles as "the guy" and even James hasn't done it yet.

He's a great fit for the Celtics, but I don't think I would want Rondo as my top player.

Groundhog 07-06-2010 09:28 PM

Guys I'd rather have than Chris Bosh (off the top of my head and in no order):

LeBron
Kobe
Melo
Wade
Howard
CP3
Deron
Durant
Rondo
Rose
Granger
Gasol

Depending on my situation (ie. if I want to win a title this season), I'd also prefer:

Duncan
Nowitzki
Pierce
Billups

Then there's someone like Amar'e who I consider about equal with Bosh.

Coffee Warlord 07-06-2010 09:34 PM

Frankly, I'd rather have Boozer + one of the big 2 (James/Wade) than Bosh + James/Wade.

Heavily crossing my fingers for breaking news that the Bulls get Wade + Boozer. :)

You know...maybe I just take offense at the notion that "top 10" actually means something. Basically there are about 4 franchise players in the league. Wade/Kobe/Bron/maybe Durant. The next 30 or so guys are depending on taste/team needs. Obviously it is heavily debateable

Groundhog 07-06-2010 09:37 PM

Yeah, Boozer would be a better complementary player than Bosh IMO too.

Every time I read anything about Bosh, he just screams cancer. He's gonna get some obscene contract and just vanish, and/or be a completely awful me-me-me teammate.

Which means he is destined for the Knicks.

stevew 07-06-2010 09:47 PM

What makes Bosh dramatically better than Zach Randolph?

This I agree with. It's not a stretch to imagine Bosh as a top 10 guy, but at the same time I don't consider him a lock for that top 10 nor do I think he's a superstar.

I do believe people would view him much better if he were put in more favorable conditions. Give him a team with one of those top 4 and I think he'd be similar to Gasol in that people would suddenly realize how good he is.

Who's the best player he's played with in Toronto? A washed up Marion? Hedo? A washed up Jermaine O'Neil? TJ Ford?

Better shooter, better passer, better defender, realizes he can't shoot 3s, doesn't have the embarrassing youtube "highlights", not a complete headcase.

Randolph is a better rebounder.

Noop 07-06-2010 09:58 PM

Bosh is a very good player and anyone who thinks otherwise is bitter or a hater. I can think of about 8 guys I would take over Bosh right now and for the future.

1. James
2. Wade
3. Bryant
---------------------
Those three are tier 1

4. Durant
5. Deron Williams
6. Melo
7. Howard
8. Chris Paul
-----------------------
These guys are high tier 2 with Bosh being right there with them.

Celeval 07-06-2010 09:59 PM

I'll be shocked if it isn't Cleveland at this point.

I think if Durant isn't up there with the top tier, he deserves his own little space right below them, but above the rest of those guys.

Noop 07-06-2010 10:08 PM

I would be amazed if LeBron ever won a championship in Cleveland, although it is not impossible but it is improbable at this point.

Oh come on. Randolph had this past season where he could be considered OK to be on a team, other than that I wouldn't want him on my team for free. Bosh is a good #2.

That's why I listed him fourth because he is about as close to that level without being at that level. One more season like the past one and he leaps into the top the tier.

RainMaker 07-06-2010 10:14 PM

Bosh can't even get a team into the crappy Eastern Conference playoffs.
