HAHA! Big game for both programs. This one could go a long way in deciding who is in the champ game. I will admit, I am nervous about this, given Iowa's soft showings in the first 3 weeks. Or we will just run the ball down your throat and win by 10. |
Hey Kodos, here is one for you. You will enjoy it.

The games for the season have started! Jacksonville State plays UAB tonight, and there are games every night between now and Monday,
Here's the matchups between Top 25 teams this weekend: #1 Alabama vs. #14 Miami #3 Clemson vs. #5 Georgia #12 Wisconsin vs. #19 Penn State #17 Indiana vs. #18 Iowa #21 Texas vs. #23 Louisiana |

Who cares about these pretender teams? Coastal Carolina plays tomorrow against The Citadel :) |
Kansas vs South Dakota
... Friday night (definitely not because this game is the caliber of a high quality high school matchup) ... on ESPN+ (after they've succeeded in breaking up the conference) ... in the only game we'll be favored to win all year. FML. SI |
Gophers start the season against the Ohio Bobcats. Wait wha? Ohio State??

Goofer fans are starting to get uppity again.... I'm going to go for tOSU tonight |

Better dead than red. |
I had no idea so many games were on tonight.
|
Enjoying the spread out schedule this week but they needed more than one game on Sunday.
|

I see they managed to fill the stadiette tonight! |
Drain the clock and we might hold OSU under 40.
|
#22 Coastal cruising at halftime 31-0
|
I LOVE college football. Im watchnig Minny/tOSU and at half a jumped to Boise St. v UCF . That was one of the coolest starts too a football game ever.
|
Can I get a sanity check on that penalty for roughing the passer/blow to the head? I guess he put himself in position where the call could be made but that was light from my homer point of view.
|
2021? That has been roughing for quite awhile now.
|
Yup, that has been being called for years now. That headline would have worked better if it had said 2005.
|
I don't think it gets called 9 times out of 10 but Minnesota was called for a pretty light unnecessary roughness on the next drive so I guess it evened out. Minnesota is playing tough football out there - hopefully Ibrahim is ok.
|
Ibrahim probably done for season (Achilles). Fuck me sideways
|
Quote:
And they managed to hang on and win 52-14. Great start to the season! |
Quote:
Damn, that sucks. That was one hell of a performance. I thought for sure it was something like turf toe. My brothers and I have been calling him Good Mike Hart all game. |
Dat targeting non-call though...
I have to agree with the announcers on that one. It should've been a penalty but w/o the player being thrown out of part of the next game. |
|
I didn't think it was possible to hate Gus Johnson anymore than I already did. Totally unfair for the defender to miss a game for that while the receiver will be in concussion protocol.
|
Ibrahim is such a beast. That makes be sick. Can only hope its a calf muscle strain and not his achilles.
The Gophers secondary was the difference. Can't cover and can't tackle. I thought Morgan looked solid tonight. |

And not even review it. BS |
If Penn State's QB could hit a wide open receiver they'd be up 31-10.
|
Yeah, learn how to friggin lead a guy.
|
College football is definitely back.
The phrase "right call by rule, but a horrible rule" can now return to our vocabulary for several months. |
I know it was only ULM, but it was odd watching UK play with a QB who can throw the ball downfield. Levis and Robinson are going to be 2 impactful transfers this year. Glad to see Robinson back home. He went top HS about 15 miles from here but went to Nebraska and then got out of the sh!tshow to come back to Lexington.
|
Big 12 may get OU back after this.
|
Good thing for them the portal is in full effect because they need to load up on D.

I am so afraid Georgia is going to lose because Duke's Mayo sucks. Yeah, that will be the reason.

Someone explain why college coaches play for 45+ yard FGs? I'd rather throw a pick trying to get into real makeable FG range than run the ball for 2 yards with 20 seconds left and run it down to call TO and take your chances from that far out.
|
I know there's a lot of season left, but damned if it doesn't look like Alabama and everyone else already.
|
Kirby Smart coaches like he's a 20-point underdog trying to avoid being blown out, even though he has a blue chip roster.
|
Georgia Tech off to a rip roarin' start I see
|
There is not enough money in the world to entice me to do this.
|
I like mayo, but I gotta at least have pickles. Or cheese sticks.
|
Even if Georgia wins, I am still not eating Duke's Mayo.

That makes me sick to my stomach just to watch SI |
I was rooting for Miami (tired of AL dominance & Saban has gotten his record) but looks like AL hasn't missed a beat.
Georgia-Clemson is a good defensive battle so far. GA hasn't choked like they are apt to do in big games ... uh oh, an interception just happened. And, of course, the big news is the Razorbacks beat the Rice Owls and covered the 19+ spread. We didn't come alive until mid 3Q and really dominated in 4Q. Texas is next week. EDIT: GA had 4 sacks in the last 2 series. Interception didn't hurt too bad. |
Ukelele looks completely unprepared to be starting in a P5 conference (never understood the hype on him anyway). He's getting little help from his OL or his RBs but even when he has time he appears to have no clue what to do with the ball.
Clemson appears to be well short of the necessary players to be relevant this season. |
The over- under on this game was 51.5. I know several people who put money on over.

Which never made much sense to me. Far too many questions about the Clemson offense for me to have bought into that. *No, I don't bet college football, no way I'd risk money on anything involving rosters who are that immature mentally/emotionally. |
Quote:
It seems like a strange offense to have him play in to be honest. But since the pick six he’s absolutely seeing ghosts out there. |
Quote:
He doesn't appears to realize that he has more than 1, at most 2, receivers on the field at any time. The OL play (a kind word for it) has done him zero favors but when he does have time he still looks clueless. |
Georgia probably should have gotten targeting there.

I swear I've seen at least 6-8 plays where 2 Clemson receivers are running the same route or end up next to each other.
|
Quote:
If that was FSU, we get 2 personal fouls and an ejection out of that sequence. |
GA had the momentum 3Q, seems to be shifting to Clemson on 4Q.
GA defense isn't swarming as successfully now. |
Quote:
And in the interest of fairness, they blew both calls -- the one they made AND they one they didn't -- on that play. |
This is getting to the point where I’m questioning what the hell the Clemson coaches are watching. You have a massive athletic QB who clearly is overwhelmed by the situation and are playing arguably the best defensive line in the country, why on earth is he sitting in the pocket play after play getting crushed?
|
Quote:
They looked uncharacteristically poorly coached. Ukelele is getting no help on the field nor off. |
I don't know about Clemson going on 4th in midfield with about 5 min to go. GA just needs a FG now. But Clemson should get one more possession.
Good game so far. |
Washington down to Montana with 3 minutes to go.
And geez Vandy, just shut the program down. |

Twitter has pointed out a few times that Dabo did say he didn't want to coach anymore once players started getting paid. From the looks of this offense tonight, he may have meant that. |
GT loses to NIU. Illinois losing to UTSA. Montana still hanging on against Washington.
|
Good game GA, congrats on the big win.
|
I think Ohio State exposed something in the Clemson O-line, and Georgia exploited it. I would love to think the Dawgs defense will be this good all season, but I am guessing catching Clemson early was probably a good thing. A big roll of the dice that paid off.

If the Clemson staff doesn't put forth more effort than they appeared to for this game, when you catch them may not matter. And if they don't find someone who can do something offensively, that's a multi-loss team even in a bad ACC. |
I can't even bother with #FireCollins.
That situation is hopeless, can't really be bothered to care anymore. |
Quote:
Jon, I think someone is stealing your lines on FB... :p |
Quote:
He was bad but I didn't think they did him many favors with the playcallijg. I still think they clean up in a bad ACC with that defense. They don't have to play UNC or Miami. |
Either way, Clemson this loss should disqualify Clemson from the playoff. They may not play a ranked team till thr ACC Championship game.
|
What an absolute ass whoopin'.
Iowa was very good today. 23rd consecutive game the defense has given up less then 25 points. 2nd longest streak was 10, probably 11 now. Offense is as advertised and the defense keeps putting out pass rushers. It is now officially Hate week. F*ck ISU, cant wait to ruin your season. |
Has anyone made the Coach O to Chizik comparison? Kelly just worked him over today.
|
Quote:
Subtle. |

Unless there are dramatic improvements in a hurry, I've got them losing at least 1, possibly 2, between NC State, BC (unlikely) and Pitt. You may not have to do much to outscore them, grind it out and just hang around hoping for one break - a kick return, a defensive score, anything. And while none of those teams are particularly good, it may not take a particularly good team to beat what Clemson showed tonight. |
All time bad loss for my Huskies. We were outplayed in every part of the game. This one lands totally on Lake.
|
Quote:
I bet if they run the table and then take down whoever in the ACC title game, they'll be there, even in that crap league with their crap schedule. People will talk about "how improved" they are, even playing nobodies SI |

I heard that comparison on a talk show somewhere. It was a couple weeks ago. I always think of waterboy when I hear his pressers. HAHA. |
Interesting back story of the Cy-Hawk trophy game between Iowa and ISU.
The teams were finally scheduled to play again in 1977 after a 43 year hiatus. These 5 dudes on a bowling team were drinking the PBR while bowling and one of the guys said there should be a trophy. So these guys created a trophy. They found out the Governor had a daughter at UI and one at ISU. So they went to his office and showed him the trophy and what there idea was and 2 days later there was a presser and the trophy was shown and the Gov presented tot he winner. That 77 game had Earl Bruce as the HC of ISU. That game ISU came out in jerseys that said "Beat Iowa" on the front. Iowa went on the win. This a very underrated rivalry. Every game is pretty close despite the quality of teams. |

Jon, Tyler Goodson of North Gwinnett HS class of 19, who I mentioned to you a couple years ago (Lifetime ago?), was 1st team all B1G at RB.
I know you remember him in HS. |

Good example of how stars can be misleading sometimes. On the one hand, he was player of the year in the largest classification in Georgia (which is weighted toward productivity & success). On the other hand he came out as roughly a 3* by most. Sometimes productivity is a better predictor than whatever the hell goes into star ratings. |
Quote:
On a team with a bunch of 4* and 5* guys right. He is just a spark plug. |
New year, same sh!t.
A "matchup concern." If you matched me up against air I would win. Most of the time, anyway. |
I know FSU isn't what it once was, but the Irish are looking pretty damn good.
|
I dunno if tearing up the FSU defense is anything to brag about, but Wisconsin fans are certainly clutching their pearls watching Jack Coan right now.
|
Quote:
Wiscys defense is ELITE |
Quote:
Yep. Like usual, the offense is questionable. I heard rumblings throughout camp that the backup to Mertz was playing better. The o line still needs to gel. The RB transfer from Clemson looks decent. I expect a 13-10 game when Iowa and Wisconsin meet up. |
Quote:
Tell you what if we arent 12-0 going into the champ game I may be disappointed. Iowa has an O line that needs to develop and a QB that needs to make zero mistakes. And WRS that have to figure out how to get open. I am really happy we have 2 stud TEs. |
Quote:
What's the over/under on weeks before you call for Ferentz's head? :) |
How many bad snaps has FSU had tonight?

Quote:
Funny you mention this, but KF has adapted and let BF run the offense. I like wht they are finally doing, KF has evolved from his early 70s offensive philosophy. but knows defense and a strong running game wins a lot of games. |
Screw the outcome, Milton already won.
Hell of a story. |
Could see that missed FG coming a mile away
Norvell is a super genius His guy nailed the 50 yarder but after the whistle, challenges the play, wins (which was wrong, but whatever), dude misses the much shorter attempt |
WOOT ND just beat the 8th nest team in the ACC. HAHA
That will be worth 4 #1 picks. |
