And that takes care of all the tournaments, there were some surprising results and a lot of expected results. Tomorrow I will work on getting the standings through the first 3 games up and get a screen shot of it on here somehow.
The next step is more non-conference play, as each conference will play every other conference, making 7 more non-conference games for each team. Games have been randomly selected, and it's going to be pretty generic, I'm not even worrying about selecting sites for the non-conference series. Hope you all enjoy |
I'm enjoying already!

I was gonna take some time and put some fancy graphics up for the standings, but honestly I just like to keep things simple, so the standings will just be in text format. Sorry to disappoint. But, here are the conference by conference standings as we've finished up the preseason tournaments:
ACC Standings Division A Wake Forest (2-1) Boston College (1-2) Clemson (1-2) Georgia Tech (1-2) Manhattan (1-2) N.C. State (1-2) Notre Dame (1-2) Virginia Tech (0-3) Division B Maryland (3-0) Virginia (3-0) Florida St. (2-1) Miami (FL) (2-1) Pittsburgh (2-1) Syracuse (2-1) Duke (1-2) North Carolina (1-2) American Standings Division A Louisville (2-1) San Diego St. (2-1) Akron (1-2) Cincinnati (1-2) UCF (1-2) UNLV (1-2) Houston (0-3) SMU (0-3) Division B Boise State (2-1) Memphis (2-1) UConn (2-1) Rutgers (1-2) S. Florida (1-2) San Francisco (1-2) Indiana St. (0-3) Temple (0-3) |
That's it! If there are no pretty graphics for me on a text-based sim message board, I'm quitting!

Week 2- American vs. ACC
American vs. ACC Challenge
Boise St. (2-1)- 62 vs. Clemson (1-2)- 58 San Francisco (1-2)- 52 vs. Pittsburgh (2-1)- 62 SMU (0-3)- 69 vs. Virginia (3-0)- 64 San Diego St. (2-1)- 51 vs. Syracuse (2-1)- 70 UNLV (1-2)- 65 vs. Boston College (1-2)- 56 Akron (1-2)- 54 vs. Notre Dame (1-2)- 70 Cincinnati (1-2)- 69 vs. Georgia Tech (1-2)- 74 UCF (1-2)- 82 vs. Virginia Tech (0-3)- 72 (OT) Louisville (2-1)- 81 vs. Manhattan (1-2)- 63 Temple (0-3)- 78 vs. N.C. Florida (1-2)- 55 vs. North Carolina (1-2)- 85 American vs. ACC Wrap-Up Both our undefeated teams in the ACC lost today, as SMU got a big win against Virginia and Memphis got by Maryland. Wake Forest beating UConn might be the upset of this challenge. Duke and North Carolina got much needed wins. Final Tally: ACC wins 9-7 This will be my format for at least the rest of non-conference play, and maybe the whole regular season. I thought about doing a game of the week and some game wrap-ups, but with such a long season to get through, plus having a lot of other stuff going on, short and sweet is better in this case. I like putting records for each team during the games, so that you guys have an idea, and this also eliminates me from having to post standings every single week. Bolding the winning team for each game also makes it easier. Let me know what you guys think. |
Week 2- Atlantic Ten vs. SEC
Dayton (1-2)- 83 vs. South Carolina (2-1)- 77
Rhode Island (1-2)- 70 vs. Arkansas (2-1)- 78 St. Josephs (1-2)- 61 vs. Georgia (2-1)- 73 Fordham (1-2)- 70 vs. Southern Miss (2-1)- 67 UMass (1-2)- 79 vs. Vanderbilt (1-2)- 67 Stephen F. Austin (0-3)- 87 vs. Kentucky (2-1)- 89 LaSalle (1-2)- 70 vs. Louisiana Tech (2-1)- 74 George Washington (2-1)- 73 vs. Tennessee (2-1)- 63 Duquesne (2-1)- 65 vs. Florida (3-0)- 74 Richmond (3-0)- 60 vs. Mississippi St. (0-3)- 64 St. Louis (1-2)- 70 vs. Alabama (1-2)- 63 St. Bonaventure (0-3)- 56 vs. Missouri (3-0)- 65 Belmont (0-3)- 68 vs. Ole Miss (0-3)- 73 VCU (2-1)- 59 vs. Texas A&M (2-1)- 67 George Mason (0-3)- 60 vs. Auburn (2-1)- 73 Mercer (1-2)- 71 vs. LSU (2-1)- 75 Atlantic Ten/SEC Wrap-Up Some good efforts tonight, as SFA played Kentucky very tough, and Duquesne played Florida tough. As far as the undefeateds go, Florida and Missouri from the SEC remain undefeated, and Richmond from the A-10 loses their first one. Fordham beating Southern Miss would be the upset of this challenge IMO. Final Tally: SEC dominates, winning 11-5 |
Week 2- Big East vs. Pac 12
Harvard (2-1)- 58 vs. Gonzaga (2-1)- 55
Creighton (2-1)- 73 vs. Colorado (3-0)- 78 BYU (1-2)- 79 vs. Utah (1-2)- 69 DePaul (0-3)- 61 vs. UCLA (2-1)- 70 Iona (2-1)- 84 vs. Washington (2-1)- 69 Middle Tennessee (1-2)- 69 vs. Arizona St. (2-1)- 56 Villanova (3-0)- 77 vs. St. Marys (2-1)- 68 Georgetown (3-0)- 79 vs. Arizona (2-1)- 81 Xavier (1-2)- 77 vs. Washington St. (2-1)- 75 Seton Hall (1-2)- 100 vs. Hawaii (1-2)- 104 (2 OT) Delaware (1-2)- 73 vs. Stanford (2-1)- 69 Marquette (1-2)- 76 vs. California (2-1)- 63 Wyoming (1-2)- 69 vs. Oregon (3-0)- 81 Butler (1-2)- 58 vs. UC Santa Barbara (1-2)- 67 Providence (2-1)- 61 vs. USC (2-1)- 60 St. Johns (1-2)- 78 vs. Oregon St. (2-1)- 76 Big East/Pac 12 Wrap-Up The big game this week was Georgetown and Arizona, and Arizona narrowly escaped. Harvard and Gonzaga, in reality, might be about as good of a non-power conference game as you can get. The surprise for me was UCSB beating Butler and Delaware beating Stanford. The Pac 12 teams Colorado and Oregon stay undefeated, but the Big East undefeated Georgetown goes down. Villanova from the Big East does stay undefeated. Final Tally: Big East wins 10-6 |
Week 2- Big Ten vs. Big 12
Northwestern (2-1)- 54 vs. New Mexico (0-3)- 69
Nebraska (1-2)- 57 vs. West Virginia (1-2)- 67 Toledo (1-2)- 67 vs. TCU (0-3)- 70 Cleveland St. (1-2)- 64 vs. Texas (2-1)- 53 Penn St. (3-0)- 73 vs. New Mexico St. (0-3)- 70 Purdue (2-1)- 72 vs. Kansas St. (2-1)- 70 Green Bay (1-2)- 81 vs. Texas Tech (2-1)- 72 Minnesota (1-2)- 79 vs. North Dakota St. (3-0)- 70 Wisconsin (3-0)- 64 vs. Iowa St. (1-2)- 81 Michigan St. (1-2)- 82 vs. Utah St. (2-1)- 58 Indiana (3-0)- 78 vs. Ohio (2-1)- 81 Ohio St. (1-2)- 53 vs. Oklahoma (2-1)- 72 Iowa (1-2)- 73 vs. Baylor (3-0)- 59 Michigan (2-1)- 79 vs. Wichita St. (2-1)- 86 Western Michigan (0-3)- 68 vs. Kansas (3-0)- 83 Illinois (1-2)- 63 vs. Oklahoma St. (3-0)- 72 Big Ten/Big 12 Wrap-Up We had 7 undefeated teams in this challenge, 3 from the Big Ten, and 4 from the Big 12. 2 of the 3 Big Ten undefeated teams lost, and 2 of the 4 undefeated Big 12 teams lost. The undefeated teams are already dropping like flies. Was surprised to see Ohio beat Indiana and Cleveland St. beat Texas. Also didn't expect to see Iowa St. handle Wisconsin the way they did. I'm happy that Wichita St. beat Michigan, with the Shockers being my team, I was a little nervous how WIS would handle that game. This was by far the best challenge of Week 2. Final Tally: Big 12 squeaks out a 9-7 victory. |

I think they can greatly enhance the experience, if used well. However, they can be a lot of work (and can cause people to stop writing because of the tedium). And I've seen a lot of dynasties where they are just extraneous, too. SI |
Just wanted to say good work so far.

Week 3- Atlantic Ten vs. Big East
LaSalle (1-3)- 60 vs. Xavier (2-2)- 61
Fordham (2-2)- 73 vs. Butler (1-3)- 70 UMass (2-2)- 88 vs. Creighton (2-2)- 105 George Mason (0-4)- 80 vs. Seton Hall (1-3)- 83 VCU (2-2)- 73 vs. Wyoming (1-3)- 82 Rhode Island (1-3)- 53 vs. Delaware (2-2)- 74 Richmond (3-1)- 73 vs. DePaul (0-4)- 72 George Washington (3-1)- 66 vs. Middle Tennessee (2-2)- 51 St. Josephs (1-3)- 85 vs. Iona (3-1)- 68 Stephen F. Austin (0-4)- 83 vs. Providence (3-1)- 61 Mercer (1-3)- 65 vs. Harvard (3-1)- 56 Duquesne (2-2)- 89 vs. BYU (2-2)- 94 St. Bonaventure (0-4)- 69 vs. Georgetown (3-1)- 60 Belmont (0-4)- 66 vs. St. Johns (2-2)- 75 St. Louis (2-2)- 52 vs. Marquette (2-2)- 72 Dayton (2-2)- 81 vs. Villanova (4-0)- 87 A-Ten/Big East Wrap-Up The big surprise for me is Fordham beating Butler. Mercer over Harvard was a surprise too, as well as Wyoming over VCU. My fear is that the farther into this I get, the more parity there will be. I'm already having that feeling there may be a lot of even records and seeding the NCAA tournament may be impossible. Final Tally: Big East wins 9-7 |
Week 3- ACC vs. Pac 12
Florida St. (3-1)- 66 vs. Washington St. (2-2)- 53
Virginia (3-1)- 68 vs. Oregon (4-0)- 73 North Carolina (2-2)- 60 vs. UCSB (2-2)- 71 Virginia Tech (0-4)- 85 vs. USC (2-2)- 89 (2 OT) Duke (2-2)- 66 vs. Utah (1-3)- 67 Boston College (1-3)- 69 vs. California (2-2)- 62 Pittsburgh (3-1)- 81 vs. Stanford (2-2)- 72 Miami (FL) (3-1)- 48 vs. Gonzaga (2-2)- 58 Syracuse (3-1)- 73 vs. UCLA (3-1)- 83 Georgia Tech (2-2)- 69 vs. Hawaii (2-2)- 48 Notre Dame (2-2)- 59 vs. Arizona St. (2-2)- 74 N.C. State (1-3)- 82 vs. St. Marys (2-2)- 72 Manhattan (1-3)- 48 vs. Colorado (4-0)- 83 Clemson (1-3)- 70 vs. Washington (2-2)- 67 Wake Forest (3-1)- 56 vs. Arizona (3-1)- 65 Maryland (3-1)- 80 vs. Oregon St. (2-2)- 83 ACC/Pac 12 Wrap-Up UCSB beating N. Carolina and Utah beating Duke are by far the 2 biggest shockers. I go back to my previous point about this dynasty being wide open and a lot of balanced teams towards the end. Final Tally: Pac 12 beats ACC 10-6 |
Week 3- SEC vs. Big 12
LSU (3-1)- 68 vs. West Virginia (2-2)- 67
Alabama (1-3)- 50 vs. Texas Tech (2-2)- 64 Auburn (3-1)- 70 vs. Ohio (3-1)- 57 Mississippi St. (1-3)- 45 vs. North Dakota St. (3-1)- 71 Louisiana Tech (3-1)- 87 vs. Wichita St. (3-1)- 85 Missouri (4-0)- 48 vs. Utah St. (2-2)- 69 Florida (4-0)- 58 vs. Texas (2-2)- 84 Texas A&M (3-1)- 75 vs. Kansas St. (2-2)- 75 Vanderbilt (1-3)- 62 vs. Baylor (3-1)- 75 Kentucky (3-1)- 81 vs. Oklahoma (3-1)- 74 South Carolina (2-2)- 63 vs. New Mexico St. (0-4)- 60 Ole Miss (1-3)- 62 vs. TCU (1-3)- 71 Arkansas (3-1)- 54 vs. New Mexico (1-3)- 60 Tennessee (2-2)- 79 vs. Kansas (4-0)- 92 Georgia (3-1)- 84 vs. Iowa St. (2-2)- 80 Southern Miss (2-2)- 80 vs. Oklahoma St. (4-0)- 73 SEC/Big 12 Wrap-Up And 3 more undefeated teams go down this week. Oklahoma St. lost their first game from the Big 12, and Florida and Missouri not only lost their first games, but both teams were hammered. And the parity and balance early on continues. Shocker of the day for me is how easily Texas handled Florida, beating them by 26. Lest not forget the real Florida team is on its way to the final four, probably to win the whole darn thing. WIS is a crazy thing. Final Tally: Big 12 wins 9-7 |
Week 3- American vs. Big Ten
UConn (2-2)- 83 vs. Minnesota (2-2)- 67
South Florida (1-3)- 57 vs. Illinois (1-3)- 70 San Diego St. (2-2)- 72 vs. Indiana (3-1)- 57 Louisville (3-1)- 91 vs. Michigan St. (2-2)- 92 (OT) Memphis (3-1)- 82 vs. Ohio St. (1-3)- 68 Akron (1-3)- 59 vs. Wisconsin (3-1)- 60 SMU (1-3)- 59 vs. Northwestern (2-2)- 56 San Francisco (1-3)- 65 vs. Cleveland St. (2-2)- 69 UCF (2-2)- 45 vs. Green Bay (2-2)- 70 UNLV (2-2)- 63 vs. Purdue (3-1)- 47 Indiana St. (0-4)- 63 vs. Toledo (1-3)- 71 Houston (0-4)- 55 vs. Iowa (2-2)- 71 Boise St. (3-1)- 65 vs. Western Michigan (0-4)- 74 Cincinnati (1-3)- 51 vs. Michigan (2-2)- 82 Temple (1-3)- 71 vs. Penn St. (4-0)- 62 Rutgers (1-3)- 64 vs. Nebraska (1-3)- 66 American/Big Ten Wrap-Up Ding dong, another undefeated goes down. Penn St. was the only undefeated in this challenge, but no longer, as Temple took care of that. Not a lot of true shockers in this challenge, that Louisville/Michigan St. game was dynamite. I had both of those teams in my final four this season in reality, but alas, both fell short. Final Tally: Big Ten wins 10-6 |
Just so everybody knows, I am not giving up on this project, quite the contrary. I took this week and next week off from my regular job, but unfortunately left the excel files on the work computer (I have a lot of free time at work to work on stuff), so I'm unable to do any reporting on this for another week. However, I have been working on writing schedules and simming games when I can, so I should be able to fire up 3 or 4 weeks of this project within a day or 2 when I get back to work. In the meantime, please enjoy my 2 FBCB projects, the MVC and FOFC interactive coaches dynasty, and my starting from the bottom coaching dynasty. Thanks for your patience all!
