Play it after. it isn't related to the story of season 1 though and is intended as a setup for season 2.

DaddyTorgo 07-12-2013 02:46 PM

Cool - that's what I thought. It's also not on sale, so no NEED to grab it now.

DaddyTorgo 07-12-2013 02:47 PM

da fuq is this trading card thing? Can someone explain it? I gather FM13 is giving them now, which means I will hopefully start getting a bunch for playing/prowess in that.

PilotMan 07-12-2013 02:48 PM

Just picked up XCom as a reward for being patient. I'd like to see Kentucky Route 0 for a pretty good price. I would pick up Surgeon Sim on a flash deal. I'm also hoping Borderlands 2 and Skyrim come down closer to my strike price.

You and me both!

Did you grab the DLC for XCom too? It's on flash also...both pieces of it for like 2.99 total.

Careful if you have to fly into SFO hmm?

It will probably go on sale before season 2 comes out.

The DLC isn't very important. Elite soldier is just cosmetics and Slingshot changes a few council missions and gives you an elite unit for completing the first council mission.

Kentucky Route 0 is great, the first two episodes have it as a contender for my game of the year so far.

Borderlands 2 and Skyrim will probably go back on sale, but not lower than they were yesterday.

For $3 I'm down with that. At least the missions-bit.

nilodor 07-12-2013 03:45 PM

I picked up FM2013. I'm hoping it will hold my attention better than 2012. It's really going to be made on the classic mode. If it brings the season length down to a few hours I'll be very happy. Does anyone have a good guide to how soccer works (like the idea of transfers and loans and all that stuff) because one of my big problems getting into the game was figuring out what I actually should be doing with regards to how many players to bring in, what transfers mean, when to do it, etc.

BrianD 07-12-2013 03:57 PM

What is the verdict on Endless Space for $10.19?

Izulde 07-12-2013 04:08 PM

FTL for $2.49 feels like something I should pull the trigger on, given all the rave reviews it got here.

It is easily worth $2.49.

jeff061 07-12-2013 04:39 PM

I've gotten more playtime and fun out of ftl than I've gotten out of most big budget games.

mckerney 07-12-2013 05:39 PM

Steam key for Tomb Raider is $14.87 on Amazon when you use the code "gooncave" (one time use code).

I did. Eh, I still won be at the controls of a plane for 5 or 6 weeks. Actually excited to go there. That's an airport I've never been to.

You absolutely should pull the trigger.

I got through the first couple sectors fine but never got weapons upgrade and couldn't repair my hull. Then these Mantis things wiped out my crew and ship in some zone with a solar flare so I croaked.

Expect croaked to be a common occurrence. :) Why couldn't you repair your hull? Ran out of scrap? And yeah Mantis = not nice. With solar flares, unless you are facing a much weaker ship, best bet is to makes sure you have power to the engines and jump out as quickly as possible.

A couple of the Yogscast guys, Sjin and Nilesy have done some FTL videos that were helpful to me early on:

Sjin: Sjin Plays: Faster Than Light #1 - YouTube

Nilesy: Nilesy Plays FTL: #1: Heal me up, Scottie! - YouTube

They both have done more than one series of it.

Wolfpack 07-12-2013 08:19 PM

Picked up Anti-Chamber and Endless Space yesterday, now probably going to get FTL.

Played Anti-Chamber yesterday and the statement of Portals without a plot is a reasonable description. It may be more accurate to say it's the most bizarre maze puzzle that you'll ever try to solve. If you like trying to find solutions to unusual problems and can appreciate the cleverness involved, it's a fun experience. Just be prepared for the fact that the normal 3-D world doesn't exist here. Things can and do change without warning and you will end up in places you weren't expecting when you first enter a space.

Steam's answer to Gamerscore, basically. You earn cards by playing participating games. You can use those cards to craft badges to increase your Steam level, or you can sell them on the marketplace to people who give a shit and use the money to buy more games.

I'm told that you can only earn something like half of the cards for any given game; if you want to finish crafting the badge, trading/purchasing the missing cards is what you gotta do.

MJ4H 07-12-2013 08:48 PM

Thomas Was Alone is awesome.

Icy 07-13-2013 04:03 AM

Tropico 4 with all DLC for $5.5, was waiting for the mac version in the mac store, but it's $30 there, can't resist to this offer, will play in bootcamp.

Neon_Chaos 07-13-2013 05:35 AM

XCOM Enemy Unknown down to $19.99

edit: Vote to get it down to $10. :)

Wolfpack 07-13-2013 10:52 AM

Ended up with FTL and Just Cause 2. Hemmed and hawed over L4D games and Walking Dead, but passed. I'm just not a huge zombie fan like some are.

PilotMan 07-13-2013 10:57 AM

Batman: Arkham City with all the DLC for $7.50. I finally have a computer that will play it alright. I've heard to many good things about it to pass it up.

edit: For another hour anyway.

Walking Dead is a good game in that it's much more like a choose your own adventure book than a true blood and gore zombie game. L4D does nothing for me, but I've really enjoyed Walking Dead.

For anyone considering the Left 4 Dead games you should skip the first and just get to. Almost all the content in Left 4 Dead has been added to 2. Left 4 Dead 2 has all the campaign maps from the original, the only thing I'm not sure on is if all the survival maps have made it over.

well crap I missed that by 9 minutes. Do games ever hit flash sales twice during steam sales, or should I go ahead and grab it for $14.99?

I would wait and make sure you have the game on your wishlist so you get email notification.

Most flash deals come up more than once. Borderlands 2 is on its third sale.

Ryan S 07-13-2013 12:29 PM

The Batman games are regularly on sale somewhere, so I would definitely hold off for now.

Coincidentally, Gamersgate is also running their summer sale right now, and they have the same game for $8.99 all day if you would rather go that route.

All the time. In the winter sale I think I saw a couple of the same games in the flash sale 3-4x.

mckerney 07-13-2013 01:50 PM

If anyone is wondering about the new Tomb Raider I thought it was great. For other deals today a The Witcher 2 is the best RPG to come out in the last few years. It has a mod that one of the secs just put out to improve combat.

Hoping Incredipede wins this round of voting.

SackAttack 07-13-2013 02:14 PM

I voted for Incredipede.

FWIW Tomb Raider I-VI are all like $0.62 each at the moment.

PilotMan 07-13-2013 03:00 PM

Great. Steam now tells you how much money you have spend during the sale season. I preferred not knowing.

Izulde 07-13-2013 03:05 PM

Picked up Witcher 2 for $5, so now have both Witcher 1 and Witcher 2, both on deep discount Steam sales. Might have had Witcher 2 for PC before, but now I have it for Mac as well if I didn't have W2 before.

You might want to think about drinking less. :D

Izulde 07-13-2013 03:11 PM

Has anyone played Mars Wars: Log?

Thomkal 07-13-2013 03:17 PM

Well I made the mistake...er delightful discovery of looking at my wishlist...and found my #1 game on it, Two Worlds 2, was now 80% off during the sale. Another $6 down the tubes...

I have Kinetic Void from backing the Kickstarter, it's still in alpha and when I last checked it out a couple months ago it didn't seem close to being in a really playable state yet.

SnowMan 07-13-2013 07:33 PM

Also would be interested in any feedback on Stardrive
