If a game is on either a daily deal, flash sale, or community choice it is as low as it will get during this sale.

FrogMan 07-15-2013 06:59 PM

I finally picked up Might & Magic Heroes VI at the buzzer this afternoon. Eador seemed too buggy to be worth trying, from reviews at least.

Another that caught my attention is Expeditions Conquistadors:
Save 50% on Expeditions: Conquistador on Steam

Anybody has played that one, or heard good or bad things about it?

Waiting for it to appear in a daily or flash deal, or at the very last day of the sale...

Read good things about that, also been hoping that it goes on a deal.

Izulde 07-15-2013 07:06 PM

I've been keeping an eye on that Expeditions: Conquistador as well, simply because it looks like great thematic game. If it goes on a deeper discount, I'll pick it up.

I figured you'd be the kind of person to be interested in a game like that ;)

PilotMan 07-15-2013 07:47 PM

Today was Organ Trail, Reus, Sins plus DLC. All still less than 20 total, but its' starting to add up now.

I picked it up but failed to get into it. The interface, while a nice concept, was too clunky and the tactical combat needs work.

Izulde 07-15-2013 08:17 PM

85% off Deus Ex Revolutions and the entire Deus Ex collection is only $6.

Deus Ex Collection
Deux Ex: Invisible War
Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
3 DLcs for DE:HR

all for $6

Hence the deeper discount wait. Once it gets cheap enough, it's worth the flier even I end up hating it (like I did with Portal 1 + 2 combo)

FrogMan 07-15-2013 08:44 PM

I'm realizing now that while I've only bought a couple games, my 16yo son has taken advantage of the sale to get quite a few good deals.

So far he's bought:
Saints Row 2
Walking Dead
Borderlands 1 GOTY
Fallout 3 GOTY
Fallout New Vegas Ultimate
Sniper Elite: Nazi
Dishonored with DLC
Killing Floor bundle

Average discount on these games is 72%, most expensive item is Dishonored at $10.19, not counting the DLCs... That's some good way to add to one's game library...

Yeah, he's paying for all those ;)

What the summer sale looks like for a developer.

Fez sold over 105,000 copies during its 24 hours as a daily deal.

Vince, Pt. II 07-16-2013 02:04 AM

I stayed strong until today. Picked up Dishonored, Reus and Dust. Who knows when I'll get to them, but they were cheap.

PilotMan 07-16-2013 07:17 AM

I'm going to break on Dishonored, I can feel it. But, if I wait now, It'll probably come around at least 1 more time.

Bobble 07-16-2013 07:54 AM

I've got two free gift games lurking in my Inventory. Frozen Synapse and Civ IV (4, not 5). Anyone want?

Should I be embarrassed that when I go to buy a game, it says that I already own that game and just hadn't gotten around to ever loading it up and playing? I shouldn't, right?

Yours Truly,
Mr. Organized, Bobble

MizzouRah 07-16-2013 08:02 AM

Ha.. I know.. I almost bought a game yesterday and found out I already did awhile back. :)

Neon_Chaos 07-16-2013 08:09 AM

I actually have a free copy of Frozen Synapse too, if anyone wants it.

MizzouRah 07-16-2013 08:19 AM

Gal Civ II: Ultimate $4.99

Worth it?

JPhillips 07-16-2013 08:22 AM

I'd take a copy of Frozen Synapse.

Dutch 07-16-2013 08:29 AM

I've got one too. :) Anybody want that one?

Never gifted a game before but I think I need either an email or friend me on Steam and it's yours.

JPhillips 07-16-2013 08:54 AM

It's in my library.

FrogMan 07-16-2013 09:03 AM

caved and bought a 2-pack of Don't Starve this morning, sending the second copy to my son. I figure if I ever run out of idea to try and survive more than one day, he'll have tried a bunch of stuff ;)

Still hanging on for more than 50% on XCOM. I've really wanted to try it out. Any thoughts here?

It's been 75% off at least once so far, if it is again definitely go for it.

mckerney 07-16-2013 12:15 PM

Nice deals today. System Shock 2 is one of the best games ever made and still holds up well. Sleeping Dogs is a good GTA style game with a focus on hand to hand combat instead of gunplay. I would advise against getting the pack including all the DLC as there's some DLC that gives you a bunch of money and XP at the start of the game. Mark of the Ninja and the Orcs Must Die! series are great indie games that are practically must buys at that price. And then there's FM finally 75% off.

Skyrim back on deal as community choice winner though I think I'm gonna hold of on Dragonborn at only 30% off.

Izulde 07-16-2013 12:17 PM

FM 2013 for $10, too.

Radii 07-16-2013 12:20 PM

Second Sleeping Dogs if you like the GTA style. Also second skipping the DLC, its mostly cosmetic and the content DLC they released wasn't well received really. The core game is really solid though.

The DLC with game content is Nightmare at Northpoint, Zodiac Tournament and Year of the Snake. I found Nightmare at Northpoint to be fairly dull, liked Zodiac Tournament and just picked up Year of the Snake.

XCom is good. I still suck at it. Maybe I should tamp down the difficulty level...LOL

mckerney 07-16-2013 12:58 PM

Alan Wake is a game I really wanted to like since it starts off as a good Stephen Kingesque horror story but the gameplay really doesn't fit in will with the theme. Then the games final act drags on and is followed by two chapters that were DLC on the 360 and are repetitive and don't add much.

It's an excellent game. It lacks the re-playability of the original, but it's a really great game.

I have been playing it like crazy. It is one of the most unique games I have ever seen.

I formulate and/or refine strategies a little bit more each time I play, but half the time I still die before 5 or 6 days and I always seem to be missing one key ingredient for success. My current dilemma has been whether to play it as a nomad versus setting up a base camp.

Anyone else as intrigued by this one as I am? Have any tips?

My last game, I decided to go hardcore with the base camp strategy. Built my science machine. Had a couple farming plots (had a shortage of manure/couldn't find the buffaloes -- but "luckily" was able to kill some bats that flew too close one night that dropped guano), had harvested a number of berry bushes (again, short on manure), built the backpack, and had a rabbit and bird trap, so I was pretty set on food. My plan was to just head off in one direction, each day, and gather as much as I could (with the hope that I could find the buffaloes) before either heading home or camping for one night.

Was doing great, hoarding supplies, found a treasure with several blueprints for improved items, and thought I would be able to dig in and kick butt for a long time. On night 7, I hear something and get attacked by two animals that looked like wild boars. I literally ran around in circles from them the entire night until my fire died and they killed me. I resurrected on that marble stone thing, regrouped, and came across a turkey. I had found a boomerang by a corpse earlier, so I thought I'd see if I could kill the turkey from a distance and the boomerang nails the turkey and then kills me on the comeback throw. ...back to Day 1.

LOL, I usually lack imagination for games like that, we'll see how it goes when I install/try it. It has me intrigued to say the least...

Excellent stealth game, by the developers of Don't Starve and Shank.

That is on my list of the many, many 4x space games that I own and have never played. Others on that list include:

Distant Worlds (and all the expansions)
Endless Space (and the expansion)
Stardrive
Sins of a Solar Empire

Maybe others?

I believe the last space strategy game I actually played was "Masters of Orion 2." I have purchased many since then, but have never really taken the plunge and played one. Despite this fact, I can't stop buying them.

I can't stop either. :) Still haven't played the new Civ V expansion.

Stardrive isn't good and I just couldn't keep interest in Endless Space after a few games.

I prefer turned based instead of real time, so I'm hoping Gal Civ II holds my interest.

I think that's one of the barriers I am facing. I strongly prefer turn-based as well. Maybe I'll fire up Gal Civ II sometime.

I have played the new Civ Expansion. I really enjoy it.

I wish I could answer that questions, but I boguht FM 2012 on a Steam sale, never played it, and then just bought FM 2013 because I am weak... I feel shame.

I think I'm going to get FM 13, since the last version I had was FM 10 I think.

Heh. I should add that my 4-season run with Salisbury City up from the BSS to an under-performing L2 favorite would be hard to let go of. :p
