Hogs vs Ole Miss next. Strong rumors that Ole Miss will be playing with QB2. Here’s hoping for an upset
|
So uhhhh.....I missed it the other night but what in the world happened to UCLA? I get the QB didn't pan out but your roster shouldn't be getting thumped at home to New Mexico.
|
I see now that Aguilar seems to not like facing zone. Georgia switching things up has slowed down Tenn a lot.
|
Tennessee-Georgia is a really good game.
|
I picked the wrong day to quit huffing glue.
|
Going into this season, the questions for Georgia was on the offense. The early games didn't help the questions, as it look like the running game couldn't get going and Stockton was a real question mark on being able to throw down field. This game seems to show the offense does have the ability to pop it on the ground, and the first play of th game Stockton hit a big pass down field showing he can air it out. The defense has been the problem, this being a young and unproven group that looked lost early. Now we will see if they can continue to stifle Tennessee like they did in the second quarter.
|
Great 2 pt conversion, tied game. Dawg defense has to hold’em now
Really fun game regardless of ending. |
I picked a bad day to stop smoking crack.
|
That was crazy. I'll take a win over Tennessee any day, but wow.
|
Congrats Dawgs. Another classic.
|
Hogs vs Ole Miss 28-28
Needless to say, both defenses sucks |
Hogs lost 41-35.
Our defense did stiffen up a little in 2H but defense lost this game for us. Any capable QB (or in this case, QB2) can shred it. Our offense scored well but couldn't keep up. They did have a chance to score in their last series but just couldn't do it. And, our offense is way too reliant on Taylen Green running (305 passing, 115 running). Overall, sad but also optimistic about offense. Petrino is showing his magic again but this year is really tough. Including Ole Miss, we have 8 ranked teams out of remaining 10 games. Such is life with a perennial SEC basement dweller. Memphis is next week, so hoping for some respite. |
Coastal Carolina gets shut out by East Carolina and this may be the worst Coastal team ever. No one standing out on offense or defense, very sad :(
|
Couldnt post at all last night. Cal has a quarterback worth keeping an eye on. Not typing his name out lol
|
Dola
I am jonesing for a TCY dynasty again, but need to figure out some kind of a new wrinkle to make it fun again |
One week, South Carolina had a quarterback that people were hyping as a Heisman hopeful and the team being a playoff contender, then this week they get killed by Vandy.
|
WVU knocked off Pitt in overtime in Rich's first backyard brawl in his return. Gonna be a rough year with 80+ new players, no real quarterback for Rich's system, and Jaheim White out for the year after a dirty tackle (horse collar+facemask) against Ohio. Always good to beat Pitt though. Hopefully Narduzzi stays there as long as possible.

DeShaun Foster at UCLA and Brent Pry at Virginia Tech fired.

I said yesterday that if Pry wasn't gone by midnight then only idiots would give the program a dime TFN. That said, as underfunded as they appear to be, it might be time to give serious consideration to dropping football or dropping down in classification, I don't see any real way for them to be relevant otherwise. Foster is only surprising that they did the right thing so quickly, usually takes longer to admit that you completely bungled a hire. |
I suspect that Napier didn't join them because the schedule is so rough they may as well let him take the beating instead of ruining some poor interim.

Chip Kelly didnt care about HS recruiting and every transfer other than Nico either came from a lower tier to UCLA, or were a p4 backup. Nico hasnt been great, but it's been a disaster with a lack of talent. |
This looks like a pretty good weekend of games as long as TT - Utah is competitive in the early time slot. There's a lot of games like this that should be good match-ups even if they aren't top 5 teams. Illinois v Indiana, Auburn v Oklahoma, Michigan v Nebraka, USCe v Missou.
On a side note, I saw a high school game last night where one team threw 14 - 26 for 77 yards. A little less than 3 yards per attempt. That's impressive. |
Looking forward to who the 3 rivals are for the Hogs
|
Memory lane.
I was perusing my regular football sites for this weekend's action (still no love for the Hogs) and came on this title. The name was familiar but admittedly, had to google on it. Good to see he is doing well. collegefootballnews.com Quote:

That '95 OSU team was so loaded and I'm mad we were robbed of seeing them against that '95 Nebraska team because they let Tim Biakabutuka run all over them. |
C'mon Atocep. Too soon. :)
Speaking of the '95 OSU team, I didn't expect Luke Fickell to fail so miserably. How do you go from getting the University of freakin' Cincinnati into the playoffs to cratering the Wisconsin program in a couple of years? Maybe Freeman deserved more of the credit for that run but what a downfall. Also, Clemson is not a well coached football team. |
Hogs up 31-20 in 3Q.
Our running game is 62 yards without Taylen Green's 28. Pretty mediocre. |

Dabo basically daring leadership to fire him this week, and they might just take him up on that. |

"This play was a matter of who wants it more"- announcer. Yeah, the fact that the cornerback has 5 inches and 30 pounds on the receiver had nothing to do with it.
|
Ok, I thought maybe Alabama was good after all after the whipped Wisky, but it's possible the Badgers just suck.
|
How did Fickell take a G5 team to the 4 team playoff and then grind Wisconsin into dogmeat?
|
We suck … our offense has potential but defense is worthless
|
Arky gives up 489 yards offense to Memphis, the most the Tigers have managed this season.
Their previous three opponents were Troy, Ga State, and UTC, all held Memphis to 400-450. That's 975 yards Arky has allowed in the past two weeks. Which probably means they'll beat Tennessee in a couple weeks. edit to add: There's been a lot talk about the schedule facing Napier as he tries to save his job but it's not a lot better picture for Pittman. He's 2-2 with 7 of the remaining 8 opponents in the top 25. |
Deebo Swanny needs a change of scenery
|
Why was such a long review needed? That could have taken 20 seconds.
|
Also, I hope that Angeli injury isn't what it looked like but the crotch TD catch was impressive.

Unless we miraculously turn it around, go 6-6 or better and a minor bowl, Pittman and DC Travis Williams have to go. Give it to Petrino ... if he wants the mess. I'm looking for a backup team to root for. Has to be outside the SEC. Maybe Hawaii, that'll give me a good excuse to go to Hawaii for an occasional bowl game. |
Fired first: Billy Napier or Bill Bellicheck.
I know it will be Napier, but it would be pretty funny. |

It is a shame VT is so irrelevant because their home entrance is so damn good. |

I think NIL is just shaking up that 2nd and 3rd tier in these power conferences. Schools like Wisconsin are just not able to spend as much as schools that used to be below them like Illinois. Kind of what we're seeing with OK State. It has me wondering if the approach for these middle of the conference teams will change. Instead of spending $8 million on a coach and $8 million on your roster, do you hire a coach who makes much less? The coach doesn't seem to be as important from a recruiting perspective anymore. So if you can find a decent guy for $4 million and dump the other $4 million into the roster, are you better off? Most of the big name coaches aren't drawing the X's and O's anyway. |
Quote:
Illinois is one of the lowest P4 NIL spenders in college football. Wisconsin is upper half of the Big 10 and probably around the top 25 nationally. Where some coaches today are struggling is evaluating transfer targets and roster building in the NIL era. Tyler Van Dyke was a huge miss for them and so was Billy Edwards. Fickell's last 2 freshman classes have been solid, but they really haven't been pulling in impact guys from the portal despite the money spent. One area that most coaches that move up into the P4 struggle with is assistant hiring. They are far too loyal to the guys that were with them at their previous job and a lot of those guys are in over their heads at the P4 level. Coaches will watch position coaches and coordinators fail for multiple years before pushed by the AD to make changes. Part of that issue comes down to contacts and relationships. Coaches that haven't moved around much tend to have far fewer contacts in the coaching world to help build a staff. Fickell may be one of those guys. |
Are you sure about Illinois spending? There was a huge stink this offseason about them really ramping up their spending and I've seen figures right around $10 milllion. They had a few big donors really splash the pot. They were also not fully reporting last season from what I can see.
|
Does Florida have an offensive line? I have a feeling Napier is gonna have to get a rental car home.
|
Cristobal punting from the the opponent 39 on 4th and 4.
|
It’s nice getting revenge on Bret Bielema. He used to like to run it up on Indiana when he was at Wisconsin. How does our ass taste, Bret?
|
The real Carson Beck has returned.
|
As much as I enjoy the Big Ten after dark, it feels like MSU is at a disadvantage having the finish a game at 3 AM their time.

The guy is infuriating. He can make every throw, and look near perfect one game. Then he gets uncomfortable and he gets all in his head. |

Not official until Tue so take it FWIW. Got 2/3 so I'm happy with it (but obviously, the broader problems we have still exists) Sources: SEC sets annual football opponents for next four seasons - On3 Quote:
