Dust is pretty fantastic. Got through the intro, chapter one and part of chapter two so far. It's like Metroidvania meets Mega Man, with witty dialogue and beautiful graphics. Gameplay is good, albeit hectic - I find myself mashing buttons more than I'd like because the combo system is pretty tight so you have to hit the buttons quite rapidly.
The story uses the amnesia trope, but it's been fairly interesting thus far despite that. Stylistically it's very anime-like, with the characters all being anthropomorphized animals. So far, it's excellent, enjoying myself immensely. |
Finally figured out the problem to solve the E:C crash.
Wandered through the first city but haven't figured out yet how to start traveling in the wilderness. |

Once you get your supplies back talk to all the available people and then leave through the gate just to the right of the palace. You can also exit down left, but I found it much tougher that direction. |

Ugh, this talk of Expeditions: Conquistador reminded me I actually have to play the games I bought in the Summer Sale. Thanks a lot. |

Kentucky Route Zero is today's daily deal, $12.49 at 50% off. |
Also looks like they changed daily deals up a bit. They're only on the store front page for a day but the deal is up for 48 hours.

I actually went back and played it a bit last night and now that I get the interface a bit, it's a pretty slick little game. It's very "board-game"-esque with some good play-balance. That board-game part threw me off at first but now that I get it, I see what the dev had in mind. |

Tempting. |

nice, thx |
You also get the soundtrack downloaded to the games folder and it is wonderful.

Waited all Summer Sale for this deal. Was pissed when it didn't win the community choice. All mine now. |
It looks like Shadowrun Returns isn't going to launch on Steam until 1 pm eastern tomorrow, though TotalBiscuit will have a 43 minute video of it up on his youtube channel at midnight eastern time.

I almost forgot about Shadowrun. Lady H_B is heading over to a friend's house for most of Saturday and I was contemplating what I would get up to. That question has been answered. |

We have a tournament this weekend in Columbia, Mo at the Show me games, so I guess I'll dive into this on Monday, which just so happens to be a day off. :) |

well, dang, me too... sigh... I rarely preorder stuff, I'm sure I'll get my money's worth, even at such a high price as 18 bucks ;) FM |
Eurogamer with one of the first review for Shadowrun Returns, giving it an 8/10
For those who just want to relive the isometric action of the SNES and Megadrive days, Shadowrun Returns easily delivers. It's not the deepest or most flexible game of its type, but there's a lot to be said for simple ideas realised intuitively. Add in some excellent writing and, judged purely as a standalone game, it's an unambiguous success. There's more to Shadowrun Returns though. Much more. And it won't be until the community gets its hands on the editor, starts remixing the current material and generating its own, that the game will really begin to blossom. When it does, the patience of the hardcore will be well rewarded. |
It's probably what you were hoping for if you were are into Shadowrun. I think this is the kind of thing that you were praying for. It feels old in a good way. Very reminiscent of RPGs of old. The fact that it doesn't have voice acting is a strength of it...It forces you to read and the writing is good |

I suppose it will depend on how well the game does, but are there plans to expand beyond Seattle and Berlin? I know what drew my attention about the original RPG though I didn't play it much was sourcebooks like the Neo-Anarchist's Guide to North America, which gave a whole bunch of information about places across the continent and how they'd been affected by the changed world of the Shadowrun future. |

There's plans for other DLC, not sure what if anything they have planned for other locations. |
I've been watching the developer videos on Prison Architect tonight and I have to say I am highly impressed with the amount of input and feedback the designer and developer are taking in from people playing the alpha.
I'm seriously considering giving them a huge chunk of money for one of the higher support tiers because of these videos alone. If they're willing to put so much work in and are willing to make changes based on suggestions from the people putting down their money to play the game, I'm willing to make an investment to it. Considering the $100 or $250 option. I love the idea of getting my face in the game as a prisoner. Prison Architect by Introversion Software |
I also got sucked in by the Shadowrun Returns pre-order.
|
Hopefully I'll find some time to dig in to Shadowrun on Sunday. :)
|
Thanks for sucking me in fuckers :D
Just purchased, never played the original or the TT version, but it definitely looks interesting. |
I rented it for the SNES and really enjoyed it, but never bought it for whatever reason.
|
Played a little bit of Shadowrun, definitely like the feel. Combat is very X-Com like (which is good) and the story grabs you right away. Very early impression is this will be a good one

If anyone was wondering about the Citadels game that showed up on Steam the other day...
Totalbiscuit @Totalbiscuit 16h This Citadels game just came out of nowhere. Looks Russian, it's a gamble Totalbiscuit @Totalbiscuit 16h Oh dear lord unit selection is so horribly broken in this game. I've never seen a game do band-boxing so badly Totalbiscuit @Totalbiscuit 16h Ahh, this is a game about the Knights of the Round Table, so obviously all the peasants are speaking Russian Totalbiscuit @Totalbiscuit 16h Gather 100 of the four different resources. But we won't give you any Stone within about 2000 miles of your home base, enjoy Totalbiscuit @Totalbiscuit 16h I am happy to say that attempting to construct a wall causes an 85% drop in framerate Totalbiscuit @Totalbiscuit 16h And now it crashed. SAFE TO SAY YOU SHOULD NOT BE BUYING THIS THING RIGHT NOW Totalbiscuit @Totalbiscuit 16h My $35.99 died for your sins. I'll give it a more indepth look tomorrow when I summon up the courage |
Oooh, and there's more.
Totalbiscuit @Totalbiscuit 1h Ok I swear half my workers just vanished in Citadels, nowhere to be seen Totalbiscuit @Totalbiscuit 1h OH RIGHT, units have no collosion detection so they infinitely stack up, great Totalbiscuit @Totalbiscuit 1h DO NOT BUY CITADELS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Video coming tomorrow showing you exactly why |
LOL, what a trainwreck... :D

I think this got posted in the CK thread, but just on the off chance, CK II and all its DLC on sale on Steam. The Old Gods is $3.74.
|
Good enough time to fill in all the DLC blanks I have.
|
Expeditions is on sale for $9.99
|
Spelunky went on the Steam store finally and is $13.49. It's an awesome, ever-changing little platformer that is finally on PC after being, I believe, a PlayStation Online title.

It was previously on 360 with a simpler free version on 360, coming out on PSN later this year. Picked it up and haven't had a chance to play yet, but it definitely should be worth it going off the original on PC (available here. For the PC version it has a Daily Challenge mode. Papers, Please (free beta available here) and Guacamelee! (metroidvania game that came out last year on PSN to great reivews) also out today. |
Has anybody given the game Skulls of the Shogun a try? How is it?
|
Papers please is fantastic!
|
It really is... I wondered how he was going to expand the game from the demo/free version (which was fun but very limited) but the story is great and they packed in a ton of additional features
|
Quote:
He did? Cuz I think the free version is awesome...there's more features? Like what? |
Quote:
I haven't played it, but I watched my roommate play a good deal of it. Guacamelee looked freaking awesome. |
Quote:
Explain why? I was looking at buying it.. |
Quote:
This pretty much sums it up for me. :) Papers, Please review • Reviews • PC • Eurogamer.net Starts off simple and then ramps up the difficulty, forcing you to make some quick, critical decisions. I had an hour pass without even batting an eye. The game absorbs you into its 16-bit world so effortlessly. You have an important job, but also have to balance your decisions with what's right vs making sure you make enough money to provide for your family. It's just well written and laid out. |
Quote:
What'd be really cool to increase replayability would be some sort of procedurally-generated code for it that would randomize who's coming through your line more. |
That is a totally disturbing game idea. I love it

DuckTales remastered looks amazing.

Tried it on my phone, and gave up when it wouldn't let me save during the initial tutorial part, which I was like 20 minutes into. I deleted it, I don't typically game for stretches like that on my phone. Maybe the other platforms will allow you to save more often, or it's easier to dedicate time to. The gameplay itself was fine, I just hate it when they don't think through things like the save system. |
Quote:
hah, i just played 3 1/2 hours and I honestly thought it was no more than an hour tops. Game is great. |
Quote:
Yeah.. that would be great. Maybe in a PP2 :) |

It's such an odd game and it works beautifully. |
