Snow Globe #1 is the Assassin's Creed Black Flag logo so it will probably show up as a daily deal, though as a recent release probably won't be more than 25% off.

Buccaneer 12-23-2013 09:48 PM

Sigh. Having to start (and keep open) a launcher in order to start a launcher to start a game. When will this madness end?

BYU 14 12-24-2013 06:11 AM

Eyeing the complete Victoria II bundle due to the time period it covers. Any feedback on it?

Izulde 12-24-2013 08:46 AM

The Victoria series is essentially what the CK series used to be before CK 2 exploded - underrated in the Paradox canon, but with some diehard fans.

It's one I *want* to like, but have a hard time getting into and understanding the mechanics of, whereas CK and EU series felt comparatively intuitive. Depending on what it's going for, it's not a bad pickup at all.

Thanks Tim, I think I will probably get it before the sale ends. Really interested in Aegeod's Civil War 2 as well, then there is FIFA 14..LOL.

Maybe I'll just get them all...

Coffee Warlord 12-24-2013 09:14 AM

Izulde summed it up perfectly. Vicky has one of the neater time periods, and should theoretically be great fun, but it's got some seriously weird and hard to understand mechanics.

Even then, I enjoy it.

I love Vicky2. It's probably more hands off than CK2 or EU4, but I enjoy the economics.

BYU 14 12-24-2013 10:22 AM

Thanks for the input guys, going to pick up the bundle as I hear the expansions have improved things immensely. (19.95 for game, both expansions and all DLC on steam)

I think Victoria 2 will be cheaper on Amazon tomorrow. $4.99 for base game with expansions running $4.99 and $2.49.

Even better, thanks for the heads up!

Grover 12-24-2013 09:50 PM

Starbound looks awesome, but I was never really able to get into Terreria. Can I be sold on Starbound? It seems much more user friendly that Terreria did.

Vince, Pt. II 12-24-2013 10:42 PM

Starbound is going to be awesome, but it's not there yet. Gameplay is fine now, but the quest element (which should be fantastic for a game like this) is almost completely absent so far. It's just not implemented yet. I'd suggest holding off for now.

I never cared much for Terraria. I'm already enjoying Starbound though.

Victoria II - $4.99
Victoria II: A Heart of Darkness - $4.99
Victoria II: A House Divided - $2.49

Doesn't have all the cosmetic DLC, but there is some available for $0.60

Amazon.com: Victoria II: Songs of the Civil War [Online Game Code]: Video Games
Amazon.com: Victoria II: Interwar Engineer Unit Pack [Online Game Code]: Video Games
Amazon.com: Victoria II: German Unit Pack [Online Game Code]: Video Games

I think the deal is good for 24 hours, so comes off at midnight Pacific time tomorrow.

mckerney 12-25-2013 12:38 PM

You can get a copy of Left 4 Dead 2 for free on a Steam today.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/550/

mckerney 12-25-2013 02:01 PM

Steam (or UPlay) key for Assassins Creed IV Black Flag is 34.99 on Amazon today.

EagleFan 12-25-2013 02:26 PM

Anyone having issues with Steam today?

It's not just you.

Grover 12-25-2013 02:51 PM

I haven't been able to get to the store since around 1:30 EST

chinaski 12-25-2013 03:06 PM

Its the Left for Dead 2 for free deal thats killing it.

Lonnie 12-25-2013 03:17 PM

I thought everyone already owned that anyway.

PilotMan 12-25-2013 04:52 PM

Steam has been completely down for me all day today. I'm already having withdrawal symptoms.

I haven't messed with steam much, I bought FM 2010 through it. If steam is down, can you not play your games? I've been trying to purchase FM 2014 for a couple hours now, with no luck.

PilotMan 12-25-2013 04:58 PM

No you can play if it's already downloaded, but you probably can't download until you connect again. I just want it to vote and look at sales, and maybe spend some of my gift money.

Haven't had any trouble playing games, just the storefront and community that's down. Only issue playing games is some multiplayer games that use Steam servers have been having trouble.

If you can't get on the storefront Amazon has the same deal on FM14 today, Steam key activation has been working for me today.

I can't load up the store but I have been able to log in and downloads work just fine.

PilotMan 12-25-2013 05:03 PM

Not for me, I still can't get my gift card loaded.

Thanks, I was going to jump on that, but the Mac link is $37.49 :( Oh well, I'll keep trying Steam. If I don't get the deal, I suppose it'll come up again.

It's a Steam Play game, it shouldn't matter what key you buy. As long as you own it on Steam you can play on either PC, Mac or Linux.

Buccaneer 12-25-2013 05:08 PM

Despite the discount, I'm very glad I got AC4 downloaded, installed, configured and practiced the day before yesterday.

Really, so if I click on the "mac" version on Amazon, and the price jumps to $37.49, I should go back to the PC version, buy, and it'll give me a Steam activation code to redeem?

Thanks.. I'm close to picking this one up.

If you're not going to play it now, then there's no sense in picking it up. After all, it's not even on sale.

But if you do want to play something like that now, then I think Starbound is an excellent choice. I own it already. I'm generally waiting to play it until it's closer to complete, but it's remarkably fun now.

Oh you know me.. I'll play it. :)

Thomkal 12-25-2013 07:30 PM

Seems like its back up

vex 12-25-2013 07:42 PM

Still down for me.

Atocep 12-25-2013 07:48 PM

I think it just died again. The store would load for awhile and I was able to add L4D2 to the boy's steam account, but I tried to gift him Terraria and couldn't actually purchase anything in my cart. Now it seems to be completely down.

Thomkal 12-25-2013 07:52 PM

spoke too soon I guess, sorry about that

PilotMan 12-25-2013 07:58 PM

I wonder if they'll extend the sale as a result of the issues today?

Blackadar 12-25-2013 08:05 PM

Weird, but I haven't had any issues in the last hour. It even took my vote for the next Community Sale.

vex 12-25-2013 08:07 PM

Whooo! Got FM 14 purchased.

cougarfreak 12-25-2013 08:15 PM

Yeah, I was just able to try again, and successfully purchased FM 14. Thanks for all the help/advice.

Heart of Darkness on amazon is a steam key. If you already own the Amazon versions of Vicky and AHD, you're fucked.

Fucking annoying.

There are download versions available as well, though for some reason different product pages rather than an option on the same page.

Amazon.com: Victoria II: A Heart of Darkness [Download]: Video Games

The pages are marked either [Download] or [Online Game Code].

Yes, either would have given you a Steam key. Not sure why they're listed separately. Usually has to do with a different publisher for the Mac version (Civ V on Mac is published by Aspyr), though that doesn't seem to be the case for FM14. As long as it's Steam Play (you can check on the store page, on the one for FM there is the Windows, Apple and Linux Penguin above the Add to Cart button) then you'll be able to play it on any available OS if you have it on your Steam account. There are a few games out there like the original Borderlands that have PC and Mac versions without being Steam Play games.

Yeah, I just noticed. I fucked up, and didn't notice the multiple versions. Still annoying, but it was my mistake. Just contacted Amazon, hopefully they can swap it around.

PilotMan 12-27-2013 01:35 PM

Nailed Don't Starve for 92% off right at 1p when it went live. Actually I got 2 copies for $1.78. Score.

Wolfpack 12-27-2013 04:45 PM

Finally. I set my older daughter up with a Steam account so she could play Scribblenauts as a birthday present back in November. I knew that she likes puzzle games like Portal (though she hates the more violent levels like the ones with the turrets), so I'd been waiting for the Portal two-pack to go on sale and it finally did today. Now we'll have a chance to do the two-player levels on Portal 2 at some point.

I've also been curious about a game called Violett. Anyone play this one? Daughter would probably enjoy a puzzle game with a girl protagonist, so I'm eyeing this one in case it goes on deep discount between now and the end. Failing that, are there other games in a similar vein I should look at? She's not interested in FPS type games.

frnk55 12-27-2013 05:14 PM

Hey does anyone know how far along Prison Architect is? I'm tempted but I'd rather wait if it's only lets say a quarter done.

Another suggestion: Puzzle Quest. My daughter, who loved Portal and is currently enjoying Scribblenauts, went nuts over this one, and actually picked it back up again recently.
