Me too. Jefferson annoys me and I never thought he was worth the money.

Karlifornia 06-26-2008 06:40 PM

Rose goes first.

And OJ Mayo looks like a teacher.

Karlifornia 06-26-2008 06:43 PM

Miami takes the Beez...darn. I was hoping for a stunning development.

And as I say that, RATner's group posts a press release saying that the Supreme Court doesn't want to hear the eminent domain case. Sooo...looks like they might be getting their dream.

Karlifornia 06-26-2008 06:50 PM

Mayo needs to buy a fur coat.

kingfc22 06-26-2008 06:54 PM

What was the SEA/LAC trade?

Sublime 2 06-26-2008 06:56 PM

Hmmm, I figured the Knicks wanted Westbrook...wonder what that does to their draft board.

Yes we have, but at this point, the problem isn't getting an arena built around skyscrapers. It's that these skyscrapers (and condos and malls and other commercial developments) are never going to be built unless the current economic climate is flipped on it's ear. Commercial real estate values dropping, cap rates escalating, inability to get financing, price of steel rising, etc makes it impossible at the planned level. And as you and I know, the Brooklyn arena was publicized as being the main component of this project, but that's just Ratner's guise for the billions he was trying to make on the commercial property.

Karlifornia 06-26-2008 06:57 PM

First reach of the draft right there.

Right, I knew that part. That makes sense. But he's trying to keep the lie going as long as possible. It's going to really injury the team's ability to do...anything.

Karlifornia 06-26-2008 07:03 PM

Well, I guess the Sonics are picking for the Clippers, right?

Logan 06-26-2008 07:04 PM

I'm not a Nets fan (although I like to see them do well), but if I were, I'd hope like hell that management understands that they don't have Brooklyn to fall back on.

Karlifornia 06-26-2008 07:06 PM

Time for the Knicks pick...this is always fun

Same boat you're in (like to see them do well..) though if they played in Newark, I think I'd adopt them. Management probably doesn't care where they play, so long as RATner keeps signing the checks.

Logan 06-26-2008 07:08 PM

Did I mishear, or did Stu Scott just say the Knicks haven't been to the playoffs in 7 seasons?

Sublime 2 06-26-2008 07:08 PM

LOL...Man the Knicks picking Gallinari was just too perfect.

Not saying he won't be good, but this was just awesome.

Young Drachma 06-26-2008 07:09 PM

Ugh....D'Antoni sucks.

Logan 06-26-2008 07:10 PM

It's nice to know that the guy who pimps Gallinari the hardest, Fraschilla, drools yet describes him as just a "very good player" at best.

Young Drachma 06-26-2008 07:10 PM

Darko 2.0

Logan 06-26-2008 07:13 PM

I believe Eric Gordon is wearing a white tux jacket.

Karlifornia 06-26-2008 07:13 PM

The Clippers select....Webster

Noop 06-26-2008 07:14 PM

Eric Gordon is a chubby fellow.

Logan 06-26-2008 07:15 PM

Chubby guys look even chubbier when they were t-shirts under their jerseys.

Young Drachma 06-26-2008 07:18 PM

I will give them credit, the draft is moving fast though.

Young Drachma 06-26-2008 07:20 PM

And this Alexander kid...cool story. Speaks Chinese fluently.

Logan 06-26-2008 07:21 PM

Stu Scott: "Stephen A., hope the English is good!"

Stephen A: "Uhhh uh mmh uh....so Joe..."

Karlifornia 06-26-2008 07:23 PM

Yeah, this is infinitely better than the "sunrise to sunset" NFL draft.

GoldenEagle 06-26-2008 07:26 PM

Brook Lopez was crying. Who would draft a cry baby

Logan 06-26-2008 07:26 PM

I hope the team that was hoping for Brook Lopez to fall to them is watching in HD and sees a 7 foot guy FUCKING CRYING!

edit: I love GE.

Karlifornia 06-26-2008 07:27 PM

Oh great, Brook crying...we saw what happened with Adam Morrisson

Racer 06-26-2008 07:31 PM

Even though the Pacers just traded for T.J. Ford, I really hope they take Jerryd Bayless.

Arena construction won't begin until other lawsuits are cleared, property is transferred by eminent domain, and tax-exempt bonds issued. While it's possible that construction could begin this year, I'd bet against it.

Karlifornia 06-26-2008 07:35 PM

See, Brook...brighter days are always ahead.

Logan 06-26-2008 07:36 PM

There have been five picks made after the Knicks picked Gallinari...and the 5 guys off the board all would've helped more.

You have to believe D'Antoni said "look, you let Isaiah do what he wanted to do...it's our turn now." Way too early to draft that kid, tho.

Karlifornia 06-26-2008 07:37 PM

Pacers got a real steal with Bayless. I like him more than Westbrook, although Westbrook is better defensively.

Racer 06-26-2008 07:40 PM

I'm really pumped the Pacers got a player with Bayless's potential with the 11th pick! :D

Karlifornia 06-26-2008 07:42 PM

Boy, the Kings really reached there.

Racer 06-26-2008 07:42 PM

Dola, I'd much rather have him then Indianapolis native Eric Gordon. Bayless has point guard skills and Gordon doesn't. That would be okay if Gordon was taller then 6-3.

You know what, that's fine. He can do whatever he wants, up to adding a dollar of payroll that goes past the 2010 season.

I don't even care if the end result is not getting LeBron. Get the hell out of this cap situation.

Logan 06-26-2008 07:44 PM

aka Stu Scott's "Jason Thompson is announcing the 2nd round" joke.

Groundhog 06-26-2008 07:45 PM

lol

Nets got a steal at #10.

Logan 06-26-2008 07:48 PM

The best part is that announcers/commentators laugh at terrible jokes all the time. And even those three couldn't fake a chuckle.

Logan 06-26-2008 07:49 PM

Rush was a fantastic pick. Whenever Oden is healthy, they'll be a force.

GoldenEagle 06-26-2008 07:58 PM

At least Robin didn't cry when he did not get picked 14th.

Karlifornia 06-26-2008 08:01 PM

Anthony Randolph...well...This is a repeat of Brandan Wright last year. I would be surprised if Randolph plays more than 30 games.

And another nice job from him there, as Speights apprently was 9th in the NBA in FG% last season. Lots of awkward looks all around.

He also called Brook "Brooks."

Either he didn't know he was supposed to call him a female name, or he loves Shawshank.

Racer 06-26-2008 08:11 PM

I really wish the Pacers would have taken a gamble on Kosta Koufos, DeAndre Jordan, or Darrell Arthur rather then draft someone who is a sure thing, but never going to be anything more then an average player in the NBA.

Racer 06-26-2008 08:14 PM

Dola, all three of those players might end up being worse then Hibbert, but all three also have a much higher upside. Hibbert won't help the Pacers become an elite team again like they were when they had Rik Smits, Reggie Miller, Mark Jackson, and Dale Davis in the late 90s.
