Bayless for Jack and Rush

Logan 06-26-2008 08:15 PM

Oh man, Bill Simmons is gonna be dying over the "WNBA/NBA, mother/son" combo in his draft diary.

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: . Why do the Pacers seem to want to take sure things rather then take guys with a lot of potential. It's like when they chose Jamaal Tinsley over Tony Parker several years back. Look how that turned out. Stupid trade.

Bayless is more of a sure thing then Rush is...

Sublime 2 06-26-2008 08:27 PM

Wow...curveball. Ajinca to Charlotte.

Young Drachma 06-26-2008 08:31 PM

Nets could end up with quite a draft.

He is white...add him to the Pacer's whitewash team.

Racer 06-26-2008 08:32 PM

Well I guess on the bright side, at least Indianapolis has one team that drafts really well.

CU Tiger 06-26-2008 08:36 PM

Apparently
Jordan + Brown = Clueless

DaddyTorgo 06-26-2008 08:37 PM

more and more looks like maybe a quality SG will drop to the C's...*no jinx*

Sublime 2 06-26-2008 08:38 PM

Man, there are a few prospects I would love the C's take a look at with the 30th pick including:

PG Mario Chalmers
C DeAndre Jordan
C Koufos
SG Courtney Lee

Sublime 2 06-26-2008 08:39 PM

dola

One down.

DaddyTorgo 06-26-2008 08:40 PM

I think they have to go chalmers or chris douglas roberts (if he drops) - need to address the backcourt more than koufos and the frontcourt

Anthony 06-26-2008 08:40 PM

the Knicks didn't need to pick the next Tim Duncan. if Gallinari turns into the next Detlef Schrempf, i'll be very happy with that. sometimes you need to pick up solid guys who can contribute and maybe aspire to be an All-Star one year. that's a good draft. it doesn't take Jerry West or some guru to draft the Durants and the Wades and the Lebrons. teams are built by having your picks pan out. some will be superstars, and you hope the ones that aren't can stick around for a bit and be a steady contributor or worst case scenario someone you can trade in a package for someone even better. between gallinari (if he pans out), David Lee, Robinson, Reynaldo Backman and Crawford, that's a decent group of under 30 guys that you can keep for a while.

Jeez, CDR completely slipped my mind. I agree though Chalmers then CDR. But I really would like to add an actual Center to backup Perk. Powe and Baby are just too undersized for Centers and PJ Brown is gone I'm assuming.

DaddyTorgo 06-26-2008 09:16 PM

huh - either CDR or Chalmers fall to the C's if they want them...

Nobody was looking for the next Duncan. But it would be nice if a team that couldn't play a fucking lick of defense drafted a guy who's biggest issue wasn't a complete lack of being able to stay in front of his man.

Logan 06-26-2008 09:17 PM

Put me in the "CDR will be the steal of this draft" camp.

DaddyTorgo 06-26-2008 09:17 PM

but veteran backup C's are a dime-a-dozen and the C's should be able to get one on the cheap

Sublime 2 06-26-2008 09:17 PM

I hope the Celts don't sell this pick and take Chalmers, CDR, or Jordan.

DaddyTorgo 06-26-2008 09:21 PM

I think they'd rather have chalmers - much better defender

DaddyTorgo 06-26-2008 09:23 PM

pistons go forward - leaving the choice up to the C's

I honestly don't see how they can't go one of those guards...

DaddyTorgo 06-26-2008 09:30 PM

is david stern on the crapper?

DaddyTorgo 06-26-2008 09:31 PM

Celtics select

J.R. Giddens from New Mexico???

eh??

Sublime 2 06-26-2008 09:32 PM

Hmmm...

DaddyTorgo 06-26-2008 09:32 PM

oh great...a headcase

DaddyTorgo 06-26-2008 09:33 PM

i'm no NBA-GM, but i'm surprised CDR+Chalmers are still on the board

MrBug708 06-26-2008 09:33 PM

Heh...might as well have taken CDR...?

DaddyTorgo 06-26-2008 09:34 PM

waaaaah waaaaah waaaaaaah Dick Vitale - shut your fucking pie-hole. No one gives a shit about your opinion

DaddyTorgo 06-26-2008 09:35 PM

i'm surprised the celtics didn't take cdr or even more chalmers (better defense+hustle, better outside shooter)

molson 06-26-2008 09:35 PM

Giddens might have been available at 60.

DeToxRox 06-26-2008 09:35 PM

Detroit is trading DJ White to Seattle for two seconds. The 32nd pick is Detroit.

Logan 06-26-2008 09:36 PM

You knew Seattle was going to make a move resembling that. Four 4ths they had?

DeToxRox 06-26-2008 09:36 PM

Dola .. Pistons figured to deal their first anyway because no one out there would've been al ock to make their roster, so the garaunteed contract was a waste.

Yep. I like it. Take three guys in the second, let them fight for spots and if they don't make it, no harm, no foul.

DeToxRox 06-26-2008 09:38 PM

Detroit should probably go for Jordan. I don't even think he's good, but a young 7 footer is worth a second.

Logan 06-26-2008 09:40 PM

Adam Silver is a hideous human being. He also needs to learn to stand in one spot.

You have to love the "WE WANT RUSS! WE WANT RUSS!" chant being directed at him.

BishopMVP 06-26-2008 09:43 PM

Giddens averaged 9 rebounds a game last year as a 6'5 SG, that's not bad. Plus he's been stabbed in a barfight, so he and Pierce can talk about that. I would've gone with CDR, Jamont Gordon or Bill Walker.

Karlifornia 06-26-2008 09:44 PM

I want the Warriors to get Joey Dorsey. They need some bruisers.

Nicolas Batum: Come to see the Houston Rockets. the next NBA champion.

I've always liked cocky athletes.

Izulde 06-26-2008 09:45 PM

I'd have gone CDR as well.

He's not a lanky SF though, so how's he gonna fit in?

Give him a summer's worth of practices with Nelson, he'll be shooting 5 3's a game and averaging less than 5 RPG at the four spot.

I won't lie, I wish that trade with GS happens. I am hard for Baron Davis.

mckerney 06-26-2008 09:59 PM

I'm happy and surprised that McHale managed to take Mayo and resist the temptation to trade him for a lower pick and cash. Disappointed they didn't go with DeAndre Jordan in round 2. Probably a high chance he'll bust, but has the physical tools where he could be a good combo with Jefferson. It's probably a better chance he'd work out than taking a European center.

GoldenEagle 06-26-2008 10:09 PM

The Nets got the steal of the draft.

Good replacement for Jefferson.

mckerney 06-26-2008 10:21 PM

So McHale is going with a strategy of stockpiling 2nd round picks when he has trouble finding talent in the top 10. This should work out.
