Terraria at $3.49. Great deal. My kids and I have played the heck out of this game.

I'm in. One of my biggest regrets was never playing this game. I beat the original KOTOR about five times back in the day, it was one of my favorite games of the generation. I hope this one still holds up.

Scoobz0202 11-21-2012 02:38 PM

I haven't played it, but I've read that you want to download something called the Restoration Mod before you play KOTOR II. Might want to look into that. I don't know if it is a gameplay mod or something to make it work better on modern machines.

Draft Dodger 11-21-2012 02:56 PM

IIRC, the game was pretty good but was rushed and people found a lot of content that wasn't finished. this mod was an attempt to add that back into the game.

I think. (I bought it as well)

Izulde 11-21-2012 03:13 PM

Tempted to pick up KOTOR 1 and 2 for $2.50 even though I prefer them on console.

mckerney 11-21-2012 03:15 PM

Walking Dead is $12.49 and the last episode is out.

Izulde 11-21-2012 03:15 PM

eh, what the hell, it's only $5. That's less than what I spend at Jimmy John's for lunch.

I always liked 2 better than 1. Probably because I played 2 before I played 1 though. But it had more options during conversations as well. Plus it really went out of its way to have an equivalent of each major SW character around. I think what I liked most though was how the story started. YOu started as jedi right off the bat, albeit one without a memory or something like that that had to build up. And being a jedi I think was the best part of this stuff.

jeff061 11-21-2012 04:09 PM

Let the wallet emptying begin. Dishonored, Age of Empires and Orcs Must Die DLC down.

bhlloy 11-21-2012 04:31 PM

I didn't even know AOE III existed, which is strange because I loved the previous games. Copped that and Sins of a Solar Empire:Rebellion so far.

Dutch 11-21-2012 04:47 PM

Oh God...here we go again. Just picked up XCOM...

Anyone getting this might want to check out the restored content mod, it adds in some of the stuff that had to be cut to make the release date.

There's links to it and things like resolution fixes and adding controller support at the PC Gaming Wiki.

Just made the purchase myself.

Never read the comics (not really a comic book guy) but do watch the show.

I hope the game and the show are far apart in timelines. A few friends said that this was a candidate for 2012 GOY so at this price, its a no brainer.

Izulde 11-21-2012 06:24 PM

Picked up the KotORs, the M:tG Planeswalker 2013 + expansion today.

Green Man Gaming Blog: Let the Winter magic begin

Dishonored and Skyrim will both be 50% off on GMG from the 23rd to the 26th.

Dishonored will also be on a flash deal on Amazon for $25 on all systems tomorrow (Nov. 22nd) from 1:10-5:10 Pacific Time (I think these deals have limited quantities, so there's no guarantee it will last until 5:10).

It is a Steamworks game, so you'll get a Steam key no matter where you buy it from.

Abe Sargent 11-21-2012 09:07 PM

These are the games I'm picking up in a few minutes off Steam's sale, for the first run through

Patrician IV - $5 right now
King's Bounty: the Legend 7.50 right now
KOTOR II (Can't get old one to work on PC) - 2.50 right now
Endless Space - $15 right now
Jagged Alliance 2 - Wildfire - 7.50 right now

I think those are a good slate of games to tide me over.

yeah, no real timeline issues although it echoes a lot of the themes of the show / comics (perhaps a little too much IMO). I feel it's a lot like the show itself - great story (better than the show, actually) but some of the characters will get on your nerves (and by "some" I mean "almost all"). Like the show, there are moments of brilliance and moments of meh.

definitely worth playing through. oh, and as an FYI there is a quick scene after the final credits of the last episode.

Julio Riddols 11-22-2012 04:56 AM

Fate Of The World is half off right now on steam, you can get it for 10 bucks. I think I just spent about 5 hours playing it and loved every second. It's not easy making the world happy, but I plan on trying again.. and again.. and again.

It's been on sale for under $5 and that's a pretty weird game. Since it's kinda odd, I'd recommend peeps wait until it's $5 again to try.

dave731 11-22-2012 06:56 AM

I'd be right there with you guys on a lot of these but how the heck do you find time to play these? Where was steam 10 years ago when all I did was work and play video games?

Draft Dodger 11-22-2012 07:19 AM

I don't. I collect unused Steam games.

Considering this as well...$33.49...probably the best price we are going to see for this game for a while

Capital 11-22-2012 08:36 AM

Torchlight 2 - first game was a lot of fun - 25% off for $14.99...let the fun begin...

Was more than worth my money at $50 and I'm keeping an eye out for good DLC.

Thanks for the endorsement...been on the fence but tried the demo and really seemed fun...

Draft Dodger 11-22-2012 10:06 AM

well, I went back to pick up Torchlight II today and found that I had completely missed Witcher 2, which I had been waiting for. Now I've got to get cracking on finishing the first Witcher (which I'm enjoying)

I was going to say, people actually play all the games they buy?

It's like hoarding. I have a jam packed Steam library that I never get to but it's always nice to know that I have the option.

This is so true. :)

Oh, and I just picked up Rage for 5 bucks. Nice, been waiting for that to drop.

Ugh. The wife went to see Twilight on Tuesday night, so I decided to finally purchase TWD from Amazon and take it for a spin. It took longer to download than I figured, so I never actually got to play it. Then I woke up on Wednesday to find it 50% off!

Amazon was very cool about it and offered to refund my money so I could re-purchase, but it doesn't appear as though you can uninstall and re-install the same game on Steam.

mckerney 11-22-2012 12:06 PM

A couple notes on todays deals:

-If you're interested in DayZ you might be better off skipping Arma II and buying the stand alone that's coming out this year.
-Max Payne is available with the DLC season pass for $20 on Amazon right now and it comes with Steam activation, cheaper than you'll get them together on Steam

Noticing this more and more. It's making the Steam sales interesting in that I don't plan on exclusively using Steam. No more throwing 100 bucks onto a Steam account because there is a good chance steam will be undercut. Hell, GMG (Green Man Gaming) had Sleeping Dogs for $13 earlier this week. I missed it, but that just blows Steam away.

It's probably due to the difference in how the stores work. Steam let's the publisher set the base and sale prices and then takes a % cut (which I think is the same for both regular and sale prices) from every copy sold. Amazon and GMG will often buy up bulk lots of keys so the publishers don't care what they sell them for afterwards, so they can sell for a lower margin to drive traffic to their site.

mckerney 11-22-2012 12:42 PM

The $25 Dishonored deal is on (PC version is box copy, but with free shipping and activates on Steam).

This is with the expansion packs included, so the deal may be different in value than it was previously. Why is it a weird game? I see it as being kind of similar to XCOM, but dealing with world events rather than space aliens.

frnk55 11-22-2012 01:59 PM

Company of Heroes question....I'm not a fan of RTS games so can you slow everything down to a snails pace? Pause and give orders? I hate being rushed so I'm terrible at RTS games.

The game is only 2.49 maybe I'll just say what the hell.

Scoobz0202 11-22-2012 02:17 PM

Yes, it can be slowed down.

I'm not a huge RTS guy either, but CoH is fantastic. For $2.49, it is a steal.

cschex 11-22-2012 02:26 PM

Anyone have thoughts on Dishonored for Xbox vs PC? I don't yet have a PC capable of running it how I'd want to, but would I miss out a lot by playing on Xbox?

XCOM is kind of a bad comparison for Fate of the World. It's a card game where you try to stop global warming.

It has zero in common with XCOM. One is a card game, the other is a squad-based combat game. That's like saying an umbrella is kind of similar to peanut butter.

Ditto. I loved one mission where I felt like I completely got my butt handed to me despite winning.

You still deploy agents to various locations to combat things on a budget while trying to research new ways to defeat the problems you face. You also have to make sure to secure continued funding from those regions as well. Just because it is handled by a mechanic involving cards rather than fighting on a grid doesn't mean it is a lot different. I think the cards were an excellent way of simplifying the interface and making it easy to get into quickly. I mean I'm not even trying to defend the game here as much as I am trying to defend my description of it, I just wanted to know why you thought it was weird.

Draft Dodger 11-22-2012 06:04 PM

yeah, CoH is awesome.

If you go for it, Green Man Gaming has 50% off, plus you can add a voucher to get 20% off that price. (I have tried it and can confirm it works with Dishonored)
